I have been a regular visitor to Wetherby Manor for almost two years and cannot fault it. It always feels clean and looked after. My close friend could no longer live in her own home and I am glad that she chose here to be taken care of. I am fortunately very well but if I require a care home in future I would choose here in a heartbeat.

Initially, Covid caused problems with both residents and staff being affected. More recently, Covid has cleared and staffing is now up to strength. Visiting restrictions are now normal, apart from mask-wearing. The staff are very caring.

Our mum was cared for on Harewood Unit (nursing) at Wetherby Manor for the last 5 months of her life. She was looked after with the greatest kindness and professionalism throughout. The surroundings are lovely, however, it is the staff who made the most positive impact. The staff of all designations were approachable, diligent and always had a friendly word for Mum and ourselves.
Mum received excellent and highly personalised end of life care. There was abundant evidence of a great team working within the unit and with external professionals (primary care and palliative care) and the communication between Mum and ourselves was good.

Mum's death was gentle and peaceful and we are very grateful to all the staff at Wetherby Manor who supported Mum and us throughout.

My mother is now in her third year at Wetherby Manor and is very contented. She started on Chesters as she does have memory and confusion issues but as her physical needs increased she was transferred to the nursing floor. She has settled well into the new environment and this must be attributed to the staff all of whom are warm, welcoming, caring and professional. I have found all staff to be approachable and they act promptly on any request I make. I am very happy with the love, care and attention Mum receives at Wetherby Manor. I believe that the handling of the Coronavirus situation has been second to none evidenced by the very low infection rate. All communication has been clear and informative.

The team at Wetherby Manor were very helpful when I was struggling to get my husband back to this area after he was sent to Bradford after being in hospital with Covid. They took away all my anxiety and went to collect him when transport could not be found. My husband has been cared for since then with skill and compassion for his medical, physical and spiritual needs. The staff have kept me informed at every stage during this very challenging time.

My mother has lived at Wetherby Manor for the past three and a half years. She currently resides on ‘Chesters’, the dementia floor. Throughout her time at Wetherby Manor, she has received nothing but professional and sensitive care and particularly now when she exists in a very confusing world. During COVID, the home has genuinely been incredible with little or no cases of the virus but, when identified, swift action has been taken to contain it. Communication has been excellent and I honestly would not want Mum to be anywhere else. We do not live locally so knowing that my mother receives the level of care she does is of great comfort.

We had been on the waiting list at Wetherby Manor through recommendations of friends.
It was amazing when we were offered a place, which was well worth the wait!
A room became available just before lockdown at the beginning of March.
Mum is 91 years old and has dementia and other problems which we have seen amazing changes in her since arrival which are a clear result of the special care she receives.
In fact, she is communicating better, her appetite is back and her general wellness is perfect.
The management and carers at Wetherby Manor are outstanding and definitely deserves 5*stars or more !!
There’s strong communication between management carers and all staff who are all extremely dedicated and professional which allow Mum to see the same faces every day which has made her feel so comforted and loved throughout lockdown.
I couldn’t have wished for Mum to have been in safer hands throughout this terrible pandemic.

All I can say is THANK YOU WETHERBY MANOR for everything!!

We just wanted to say to all the staff at Wetherby Manor, thank you for the care and support given to our mother. Without exception, all the team on Chesters who looked after her in her final days were so kind and respectful to her. We wanted her to stay in an environment that she knew and was familiar to her as well as be cared for by faces and voices she recognised. We cannot fault the care she received by everyone. Also, their kindness and counsel to us as we stayed with her. It was a very difficult time but we are so reassured that her final days were as peaceful and calm as they were.

From the word go when my husband went into Wetherby Manor, I was treated with respect and kindness and overall my husband was treated with kindness always. He always had a smile on his face and when I asked him he said he loved the staff and the food. I feel the last year of his life in Wetherby Manor was as good as it gets.

My sister and I have been very happy with the care and wellbeing of our mother during these recent difficult months by Wetherby Manor staff. Despite the difficulties of not being allowed to visit, I have been dropping off 'goodies' and treats throughout the 3 months and FaceTime calls have been as regular as required. There have been written updates on the coronavirus status of residents so we know we are fully informed. We are grateful of all the personal sacrifices the staff have made individually for the benefit of our mother and other residents which we know impact on their own lives.

Wetherby Manor was my father’s home for 2 and a half years until he recently passed away. The facilities are lovely and well maintained with nice spacious bedrooms and numerous lounges where there is always plenty of space to accommodate all the various activities and visitors. At the same time, there is enough room for a quiet space for those that want it. The garden is outstanding and was such an added bonus to my father who loved to spend time there. Most importantly though is way the staff care for the residents. It is clear that they genuinely care for the residents and treat them with respect and dignity. I cannot thank them enough for the care they gave my father.

My mum spent her last 3 years here with dementia. The staff are amazing, they show so much respect and love and give the utmost care and dignity to individuals needs. The home is beautiful and so well looked after. The gardens are stunning! There’s always something to do each day for the residents ie films, pottery, dancing, singing, and so much more.

I will never be able to thank all the staff at Wetherby Manor enough for the care they gave Mum right till her passing, they were with her and giving her the love and support she needed. Thank you all.

Making a Christmas cake was a fantastic experience with one of the other residents and a staff member - big achievement, we won.
Lip Sync was hilarious, gave laughter to all and I even joined in doing Vera Lynne singing We'll Meet Again and everyone joined in with me. We have a beautiful garden and entered in the local in bloom competition, which we won. I was invited to the luncheon and really enjoyed myself.

I love being a resident at Wetherby Manor.

Most staff are very good. Food has been not so good, but a food committee was set up with input from three residents and it has now improved. Dinners generally are very good. Teas vary.

Caroline Byron
Caroline ByronJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

Hello, I’m Caroline, the registered manager of Wetherby Manor. I have over 35 years of experience within the care sector, bringing a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the needs of the people we support.

During my time working in the care industry, I have had different roles that have provided me with varied experience and skills. I worked with Marie Curie, specialising in palliative care, I was the Deputy Manager of an Extra Care facility, a care co-ordinator in the community and I was registered manager of a care home in Selby for two years.

Seven years ago, I qualified as a nurse and worked in the elderly care ward at Harrogate District Hospital. Showing compassion to others and supporting them in times of need has always been a calling of mine, demonstrated further by my volunteer roles delivering complementary therapy to those still living at home on the palliative care pathway.

I am one of seven children, and we are all qualified nurses. So some might say the job is in my blood!

Just before I was born, my mother bought a care home which she ran, I grew up within that care home; learning and watching people to support others showing compassion, empathy, and kindness. That foundation has provided me with the life skills to support my passion for care in a professional way. I am very proud of my roots and my working life so far and am delighted to now be the registered manager of such a luxurious residential and nursing home in the heart of Wetherby.

The team at Wetherby Manor are diverse and passionate and I look forward to being able to support and expand their development as far as they want to progress.

I look forward to welcoming you to Wetherby Manor.

Please say hello or stop by for a chat on your visit, my door is always open.

Hi everyone, my name is Laura and I am the Deputy Manager at Wetherby Manor.

I started my role in June 2023, and I support Caroline with the daily management of the home. With over 30 years’ experience in the care sector, I have a vast knowledge and a wealth of experience in looking after people, being able to look after your loved ones is a true privilege. If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to approach me.

Away from work, I love spending time with my three children, my dog and my horses.

Alison Driver
Alison DriverJob Title:AdministratorJoined: 2023

Hello! I’m Alison and I am the administrator at Wetherby Manor.

I have worked in payroll, recruitment and administration roles for 34 years so I have a lot of knowledge about the processes required to execute my role effectively.

I started my career within care in 2017 when I was a care recruiter; firstly, in Children's Services and then into Adult Services, inclusive of management teams for nursing homes, residential homes, supported / independent living, home care and complex care. I was responsible for over 25 clients recruiting the right people for their roles.

I have a diploma in payroll management.

At Wetherby Manor, I will support you and your loved ones with your resident contract, account management and other administrative duties.

I live in Leeds with my husband and three children – a boy 23, and two girls aged 12 and 9.

We own a Caravan on the East Coast which we love spending time at.
