When entering Wetherby Manor, you are greeted by friendly staff. They always take time to talk to you and no problem ever seems to be much for them to assist with. The carers always try to stimulate the residents and the activities and light entertainment often bring back many memories. Office administration is excellent, always there to help with any questions & queries.

We found a very pleasant environment and a warm welcome. The staff are very friendly and the manager camera to talk to us. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and it is lovely to look out at the immaculate gardens. We enjoyed tea and cake in the lounge whilst our friend had an appointment. It is like being in a nice hotel with the staff in smart uniforms - and the attractive decor.

I feel safe here.
The staff - management, carers, cleaners, people in the laundry/the kitchen staff and those dealing with meds are excellent.
Kindness, patience, thoughtfulness, care and friendliness are always present.

Although there is nowhere like your own home and there are niggles - I am happy here.

I wanted to praise the hospitality staff at Wetherby Manor. The manager and his team are wonderful. I have been visiting Mum most days for over a year now. They have always offered me a drink and infact now it just arrives!! A lovely touch! The bar and dining room are always immaculate and nothing is too much trouble. I know a lot of effort goes on behind the scenes to ensure things run so smoothly. Mum is looking forward to the new chef starting on Monday andI really hope he fits in and is an asset to the team.

The vulnerability I was beginning to feel at home was soon dissipated when I came to Wetherby Manor for respite care after a short stay in hospital. I can say, without hesitation, that every member of staff is empathetic and dedicated to caring for each and every resident to the highest of standards and professionalism. The highest priority is given to the well being of each and every resident, from the comfort of the accommodation to well cooked and nutritious food served in sociable surroundings with care taken with individual tastes. There are various opportunities for social interaction if you should wish from concerts to quizzes to handicrafts and films to watch. Of course it goes without saying that the medical care is second to none.

My very elderly grandma is a resident at Wetherby Manor and myself and/or my family visit most days. Although she can get confused and forgetful, my grandma only ever has nice things to say about the staff. She likes seeing them when they check on her or when they take her downstairs, and they brighten her days. We feel they know her well and always treat her with kindness and patience. The staff respond well to any queries and nothing is too much trouble. It was a difficult decision moving her into a home but we definitely feel reassured that Wetherby Manor is the best place we could have found for her.

We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to you and all the caring staff at Wetherby Manor. My grandfather was a resident in the nursing floor. I can't thank the staff enough for the care they gave to him and to all of our family. Everyone from the managers to the maintenance man took time to chat with us and make us feel at home. I would like to thank the nurses and carers especially for the care and compassion.

We are afraid that our experience on the nursing floor of this care home was not good at all. They were understaffed and resident was neglected on numerous occasions. There were no organised activities for residents despite these being advertised. Other floors might be better but not the nursing one.

I visit Wetherby Manor every week to see a friend and do her hair. I have been doing her hair for nearly forty years, since I was 16 years old. She is a lovely lady and always likes everything just right. Things matching, always dressed smart and clean. She has gone into the Manor and she still looks very smart. The carers are very lovely and helpful. I would highly recommend Wetherby Manor to people.

My mother was in the Wetherby Manor for a month before sadly she passed away. We experienced the ground floor for a short time and then my mother was end of end-of-life care in the nursing suite. I was absolutely delighted with how the nurses and carers looked after my mother. She passed away peacefully and the care was superb.

The end-of-life care was superb. My brother-in-law was treated with great respect and dignity. Following his death until he left the building with the funeral directors and a member of the clergy, his treatment was exceptional.
The staff were superb, I cannot praise them enough.

Brilliantly run by a superb team of caring staff. Always difficult to make the transition from 'own home' into 'care home', but the team at Wetherby Manor couldn't have been friendlier or more accomodating. Meet the Team (3)

Caroline Byron
Caroline ByronJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

Hello, I’m Caroline, the registered manager of Wetherby Manor. I have over 35 years of experience within the care sector, bringing a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the needs of the people we support.

During my time working in the care industry, I have had different roles that have provided me with varied experience and skills. I worked with Marie Curie, specialising in palliative care, I was the Deputy Manager of an Extra Care facility, a care co-ordinator in the community and I was registered manager of a care home in Selby for two years.

Seven years ago, I qualified as a nurse and worked in the elderly care ward at Harrogate District Hospital. Showing compassion to others and supporting them in times of need has always been a calling of mine, demonstrated further by my volunteer roles delivering complementary therapy to those still living at home on the palliative care pathway.

I am one of seven children, and we are all qualified nurses. So some might say the job is in my blood!

Just before I was born, my mother bought a care home which she ran, I grew up within that care home; learning and watching people to support others showing compassion, empathy, and kindness. That foundation has provided me with the life skills to support my passion for care in a professional way. I am very proud of my roots and my working life so far and am delighted to now be the registered manager of such a luxurious residential and nursing home in the heart of Wetherby.

The team at Wetherby Manor are diverse and passionate and I look forward to being able to support and expand their development as far as they want to progress.

I look forward to welcoming you to Wetherby Manor.

Please say hello or stop by for a chat on your visit, my door is always open.

Hi everyone, my name is Laura and I am the Deputy Manager at Wetherby Manor.

I started my role in June 2023, and I support Caroline with the daily management of the home. With over 30 years’ experience in the care sector, I have a vast knowledge and a wealth of experience in looking after people, being able to look after your loved ones is a true privilege. If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to approach me.

Away from work, I love spending time with my three children, my dog and my horses.

Alison Driver
Alison DriverJob Title:AdministratorJoined: 2023

Hello! I’m Alison and I am the administrator at Wetherby Manor.

I have worked in payroll, recruitment and administration roles for 34 years so I have a lot of knowledge about the processes required to execute my role effectively.

I started my career within care in 2017 when I was a care recruiter; firstly, in Children's Services and then into Adult Services, inclusive of management teams for nursing homes, residential homes, supported / independent living, home care and complex care. I was responsible for over 25 clients recruiting the right people for their roles.

I have a diploma in payroll management.

At Wetherby Manor, I will support you and your loved ones with your resident contract, account management and other administrative duties.

I live in Leeds with my husband and three children – a boy 23, and two girls aged 12 and 9.

We own a Caravan on the East Coast which we love spending time at.
