From the moment we entered the home we were made to feel welcome by all of the staff and this continued throughout the 2 years of dads stay. The staff quickly got to know dad and he became a big part of their family. I visited dad everyday and witnessed so many staff going above and beyond their duties.

My dad lived at Oaktree Lodge for just over two years, he just recently passed away. Dad was happy and content, he loved the food, entertainment and the company of other residents.
The care he received from the dedicated staff was wonderful.
Dad lived out his days at Oaktree Lodge as happy as anyone could be living with Dementia.

I thank the staff for their consistent care and approachability.

I have chosen to write this review because I have witnessed a culture and caring commitment I have just never witnessed in an entire organisation before.

The care home had housed my friends wife until she passed away 3 years ago . afterwards they continued to welcome her husband on a social unpaid basis. What's special about this care home is the staff ,everyone of them. My friend recently agreed to become a resident for a couple of weeks. Not only have the staff gone above and beyond to make him feel special and welcome, three of the staff teamed up to offer and execute a thorough clean of his own flat so he could return to a spotless flat after his stay at Oak Tree Lodge. They did that in their own time and without payment. The Care home is spotless itself and the atmosphere warm and caring . The motivation seems to be caring driven not cost. If I had to pick one word that fits what's really special about the staff its " ENTHUSIASM" for the residents care.

Oak Tree Lodge cared for our dad for over a year, the care he received was first class, my mum visited everday and was treated like a Queen. Now my mum stays in Oak Tree Lodge for respite from time to time, she enjoys it so much she doesn't want to come home. The rest of our family are also treated with the highest of respect & kindness, couldn't praise them enough! Absolutely 5* treatment.

My Dad was in Oak Tree Lodge for over a year. He was so well looked after it was unbelievable. My mum went and spent everyday up there with him and loved each and everyone of the carers. He later died in there and they couldn't do enough for us, Mum later stayed there for 2 weeks and loved it that much she didn't want to come home so is now staying for another week. If it comes to it that I had to go in a home, Oak Tree Lodge is the only place I would want to stay.

My dad has been in Oak Tree Lodge since July 2024. There are some wonderful very caring carers that work here. I feel happy that my dad is cared for how he would have wanted. He is very safe and secure and that is very important. My sister and me feel that my dad is being looked after and he seems happy enough. Carers and team leaders arealways willing to talk and help.

My mother-in-law spent her last 2 and a half years at Oaktree Lodge giving her so much joy and companionship which was so needed. She was so well cared for and made to feel loved, she enjoyed each day. The staff from reception to cleaning are exceptional. She passed at 96 in the home after unbelievable end of life care by all, we cannot thank you all enough.

My mum moved into Oaktree lodge in July last year. I had looked around a few homes and knew the minute I walked into Oaktree it was the right one. It felt homely and warm, the staff were friendly and welcoming.
Mum took a few weeks to settle as we had only lost my dad 2 day before the move. With mum's dementia it was impossible for her to stay at home.
The room she had was lovely and very comfortable. Although she ha never been one to join groups, she loved sitting in the lounge watching the world go by. She did sometimes join in the activities and It was fabulous to see. The management and staff go beyond what is expected to make sure the residents are happy and safe. The food was excellent and mum especially enjoyed all the gorgeous cakes and puddings.

I am very pleased I chose Oaktree for mum to send her final months. Mum passed on Christmas Day, during her final days the care and love shown to her was so reassuring to me, I knew she was well cared for when I was not with her.

My mother was discharged to a care home after long and repeated hospital admissions and subsequent deterioration in dementia symptoms. After temporary placement in a different care home was transferred to Oak Tree Lodge. The team at Oak Tree Lodge have been fantastic and made a very stressful time for the family and for Mum much easier to deal with. The staff are caring, know the residents and aim to meet all of their individual needs. Mum is starting to settle due to their care and attention. It is early days but I am very grateful to the team.

My mum was admitted to Oak Tree Lodge in July 2024 after having a fall at home and needing twenty-four-hour care afterwards.
From the first time we entered the home, my mum and I were made to feel welcome and valued.
All the staff from the reception through to the manager including care staff and housekeepers, are friendly, accommodating and helpful. Mum is always clean, comfortable and happy when I visit and I am allowed to book in to have meals with her which is lovely as we always ate together at home.
They have allowed me to put up the pictures and photographs that she had at home, so her surroundings are familiar to her and this has helped her to settle in and feel "at home," something which is important when a person is suffering with dementia.

I was worried when I had to find long-term care for Mum as I obviously felt that "only the best would do" for such a wonderful person but I'm delighted to say, that I found it at Oak Tree Lodge and we both want to say a big thank you.

Overall my husband enjoyed his 2 week respite at Oaktree Lodge. The staff are very good with him and support him well, they are also very friendly. My husband was all smiles when we went to pick him up, he was really happy. He looked well, clean-shaven and tidy and had everything he needed, his room was clean and tidy. All his clothes were washed and dried ready to go home.

Knowing that my husband is being looked after so well, means the world to me, due to my husband having dementia, he is unable to tell me about this stay.

Vicky Gudgin
Vicky GudginJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2022

I am pleased to introduce myself as the registered Home Manager at Oak Tree Lodge care home. I have 14 years of experience of working in care homes. I began my career in care when I worked as an agency carer whilst studying Nursing at the University of Leeds. At the end of my second year of study, I was offered a permanent position by the company I had been working for.

After taking the decision to leave my nursing studies in 2011, I worked as a Senior Carer for five years. I then became Deputy Manager with Anchor in 2016 and was promoted to Home Manager a year later. I moved to Oak Tree Lodge last year and I am very proud to be Home Manager.

I am passionate about providing a high standard of care and treating our residents with respect and dignity. It is my responsibility to ensure that resident’s individual needs are met from the start of the pre-assessment to admission. I look at a dedicated team who have the relevant training to be responsible for ensuring each resident is looked after with care and compassion.
