Overall Experience
My mam has been a resident since April 2024 and I feel like I have been handed my life back since then as the situation prior to that was simply untenable and I was close to breaking point mentally and physically. Mam had a private carer who visited her twice daily to give her medication, and help her with washing, dressing, meal preparation and shopping but even with this - we were seriously struggling and she had been hospitalised twice with e-coli as she was refusing to throw away old/bad food, refusing to wash/shower and refusing to go out/engage with others.

All this has changed since being a resident at Oak Tree Lodge. She's clean, well fed, has put on weight, is happier and has made firm friends whom she engages with daily and joins in all the activities with, which is so lovely to see. Staff are fantastic and treat residents with such care and dignity, encouraging them to join in all the daily pursuits which are thoughtfully put together and are clearly a lot of fun.

It was my Mum's first time at Oak Tree Lodge for a 2 week respite break. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and Mum was shown to a lovely, clean room. The Care Assistants (including housekeepers and the chef) warmly embraced my Mum and quickly got to know her despite her initial difficulty in settling in. Mum enjoyed the food, the banter with staff, residents, and liked the open space of the lounge and dining area where she could see what was happening. There was a good understanding with regards to her Alzheimers disease and care was taken to ensure she was safe and comfortable. This is a place where the clients/residents come first and are well cared for in all areas. Thank you.

My dad came in for respite care and I can honestly say he was so settled and content that I worried about bringing him home. I cannot praise the staff enough, they are so unbelievably caring and lovely and let my dad be what he needed to be, they did not push him to do anything he didn't want to. His room was lovely and the whole care home is so clean. The food he really enjoyed. What more can I say other than a very big thank you to all of the staff who are priceless.

I believe that my mother received the highest possible care she could have done. Any incidents were responded to. Staff were open and honest at all times as far as I am aware. Safety measures were put in place when necessary. Staff were loving, affectionate, caring and kind to Mum.
Management was open and always welcoming and friendly to me and Mum's visitors.

I have been very satisfied with the care my mum received. Thank you to all the staff.

Mum has been in Oak Tree for just over a year and for me having peace of mind she is looked after well and since I don't live near to Mum, I know she is safe which means I sleep! The staff, carers and all the people who come into the home are so wonderful with time and the entertainment is good. Mum does keep busy and loves colouring, she joins in with activities when she wants and loves the silent disco.

Thank you to all the staff, carers and team who look after Mum for me.

On my first visit to Oak Tree Lodge, I found it easy to get to. When I went in, I thought the check-in and out system was good. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I was impressed with how nice the decor, furnishings etc were. It didn't smell. The rooms looked nice. The kitchen and dining room were spotless. It was nice to be able to make a drink etc. It was nice and clean everywhere. I didn't see much of the garden but I'm sure it would be nice to sit in when the weather warms up. The staff were around if you needed them. It looked like a home-from-home. I would recommend it to anyone.

My mum has lived at Oak Tree Lodge for 2 1/2 years and we have been very pleased with the care she has received. The staff are very caring, they take time to get to know the residents so they can give them the best experience possible. Staff have communicated with us regularly and when we visit we are always made welcome.

Mum has remained content and calm in the home and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they give her.

Ever since my mother-in-law moved into Oak Tree Lodge in October 2021. She has been treated with dignity, respect and affection. Her dementia is progressing quite rapidly and she has had moments of very challenging behaviour with both residents and staff, but each incident has been has been handled professionally by the managers and carers and I have nothing but admiration for them all. Thank you so much to all at Oak Tree for taking such good care of my mother-in-law.

My father has just celebrated his 92nd birthday in Oak Tree Lodge. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They gave over a small room to the family so that we could make it special. They also provided tea, coffee and drinks for the children. This is just one example of the care and thoughtfulness that the staff have shown both my father and my mother. I cannot praise them enough

I've been to see my friend every week since her arrival and I've seen a big improvement in her condition. On admission, she was very upset and angry each time I came, but not she seems quiet settled and happy. A much better experience for us both.

My mother is coming up to a one-year anniversary at Oak Tree Lodge; she has been cared for in an amazing way. Staff love Mum and look out for her every need. She has struggled with settling, but the staff supported not only Mum but also me. We have worked together to support Mum through her settling period. The staff are amazing and very caring.

Not enough staff who know everything. Too many agency workers coming and going. Old people get used to people, and they don't like new people all the time.
But there are some lovely carers also.

Manager is not very good.

Thank you for your review; we take feedback seriously. Staffing levels are always in line with residents’ safety and well-being, which sometimes means we need to use agency staff to ensure that we meet staffing requirements to keep Oak Tree Lodge a safe and happy place to live. Recruitment is...

Since my mother moved into Oak Tree Lodge a few months ago, her health has improved hugely. She loves the food, and the staff are always encouraging her to eat and drink, which was previously a worry for us. She is putting on much-needed weight and is less frail than she was. The staff are excellent, caring and friendly, even when they are clearly very busy. Visitors are always warmly welcomed, although I make sure I avoid meal times.

Originally, my mother moved in on a temporary basis to build up her strength, and she planned to return home. However, she has made friends, is very happy and comfortable and has decided to stay permanently.

I am pleased to introduce myself as the registered Home Manager at Oak Tree Lodge care home. I have 14 years of experience of working in care homes. I began my career in care when I worked as an agency carer whilst studying Nursing at the University of Leeds. At the end of my second year of study, I was offered a permanent position by the company I had been working for.

After taking the decision to leave my nursing studies in 2011, I worked as a Senior Carer for five years. I then became Deputy Manager with Anchor in 2016 and was promoted to Home Manager a year later. I moved to Oak Tree Lodge last year and I am very proud to be Home Manager.

I am passionate about providing a high standard of care and treating our residents with respect and dignity. It is my responsibility to ensure that resident’s individual needs are met from the start of the pre-assessment to admission. I look at a dedicated team who have the relevant training to be responsible for ensuring each resident is looked after with care and compassion.
