My nana was a resident from around July 2025 until her passing on 26/5/25.
Home: Very clean and tidy at all times, which is no easy task. My nana's room was comfortable, personalised and re-decorated several times during her tenure. The food is varied and good quality; snacks and drinks always offered.
Staff: Over 5 years, we knew every member of staff. All were attentive and caring. Nana was treated with dignity. They knew her personality, her humour, and they loved a joke with her.
Activities and engagement: Staff engage with residents all the time; frequent planned activities from bingo, crafts, baking, movie afternoons, themed parties for Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's etc. Regular visiting entertainment of vary forms.
We would have no hesitation in choosing Kirkley if either of my other grandparents need care. That should speak volumes. We thank Kirkley staff for everything they did, and the love they showed my nana.

My mother was admitted a number of years ago, when Alzheimer's dementia prevented independent living. The staff engaged with her, building up relationships of trust, enabling an improvement in her diet and personal hygiene. Many of them took time to know about her, within the context of her previous
life. She was always treated with gentle care and respect.
The home was able to be flexible with Mum's sleep variation. Not a problem to provide 11am breakfast if she had wanted a lie-in or crumpets for a supper snack. I recall specifically a plate of small, tempting fruit portions to try and whet her appetite.
Recently her health declined. The staff informed me and sought the appropriate medical attention. They all worked to fulfil her wishes (and the family's) to die peacefully in the home. She was treated with dignity at all times. Her comfort was maximised. The staff also looked after me and the family, practically and with friendly consolation.

My mam had to reluctantly go into Kirkley Lodge Care Home as a step down from hospital, she had been living on her own for 5 years since my lovely dad passed during COVID, she has never really dealt with her deep grief, she's had limited mobility for 40 yrs then a new hip replacement in Oct24 and whilst
recovering at home she broke her upper arm in a fall in Nov24, she ended up losing so much weight and had become so frail, the minute she went into the home in Dec24 she was made to feel welcome, all the lovely staff have made the transition for us as a family so much easier and we cannot thank them enough. My mam is now back to her normal weight, she's so much happier now, my family love visiting as we can all see how well she is doing, all the staff have a lovely rapport with mam and all the other residents too. I can go home and leave mam now and know she is safe and cared for which means the world to me xx

First impressions were actually okay but there's a clique amongst staff here and if a resident is of the more challenging nature, then Staff who are part of the clique are really quite antagonistic and argumentative towards the resident. Staff not in the clique are really quite kind, caring, patient
and understanding. My relative didn't like only being allowed one bath or shower a week and felt intimidated by Staff on more than one occasion. There is a strong smell of urine at this home which I think could be eliminated with the upgrade of hard flooring and protective furnishing.

Feedback regarding our staff has always been very positive and we have an all team approach to ensure the wellbeing of our residents and to support their loved ones as appropriate. All our residents are offered a minimum of two baths/showers per week unless requested otherwise by the resident. Our housekeeping team have robust rotas in place to ensure Kirkley Lodge is regularly cleaned. We take this feedback very seriously and would be keen to discuss this further to ensure we can understand and implement actions accordingly. My door is always open or please do call me anytime. My Auntie became a resident in Kirkley Lodge following an admission to hospital and prior to that had been living alone, where she was not coping and had become quite depressed.
But since being in Kirkley Lodge, she is thriving on the care and attention she receives. She has a great relationship with
the carers and both her and I have had nothing but praise for all the staff.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Kirkley Lodge to anyone looking for a care home.

Mum has been at Kirkley Lodge for over two years now and is very happy there. The reason being is that Kirkley is a lovely place and the staff are exceptional with the care and compassion they show. Not just to Mum but all the residents.
Mum loves the company of the other residents along with the activities
provided and she likes a laugh with the staff. We as a family know Mum is being looked after which is a relief to us all. Thank you Kirkley.

Both my Father-in-law and Mother-in-law are in the home, they both receive the most excellent care from every member of staff. They are treated like a member of their family and shown the same love. We as their family are truly grateful to each and every one of them as it gives us peace and satisfaction.

It's just over the 12-month anniversary of both my parents entering Kirkley Lodge and it has been a wonderful 12 months, the previous few years where we tried to look after and care for my parents had been very tiring and extremely stressful for both my brother and his wife and my self and my wife.
Despite our best endeavours, the task was becoming beyond us and the relief and joy we got from seeing our parents in a secure safe welcoming, and very loving environment has been literally a lifesaver.
The staff have been fantastic from the outset and have in effect become extended family and made our and especially our parent's lives so much happier and stress-free.
I couldn't recommend this place any stronger to any potential customers as an ideal solution to a difficult situation for all.

My mum has been at Kirkley Lodge since May 2024 following a stroke. To say we were apprehensive about her moving into 24-hour care is an understatement. Having worked in health and social care myself for many years I've seen huge variety in the type of care and support people receive. I chose Kirkley
Lodge after visiting many other care homes in the area and I now realise how fortunate we were that Mum got a space. Everyone from the kitchen staff, carers, team leaders, administrator, deputy manager, and manager are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely caring. In a few short months, both my mum and myself have built relationships with the staff and I feel I could approach them about any issue, which is incredibly reassuring. The high standards are set by the manager and her leadership is evident across the home. There is a real sense of community within Kirkley Lodge and high-quality person-centred care.

Every single member of staff goes over and above for the residents and their families, nothing is ever too much trouble. It has a fabulous happy, safe and

The home is a happy and welcoming place. It's very clean and the care and compassion shown to the residents and their families is exceptional. They provide varied entertainment and encourage the residents to join in. My mother has made friends and the staff try and sit them together in the lounge and
at meal times which really brightens my mother's day. They always listen to concerns. I don't know what we would do without them. Very thankful.

Mum needed short-term respite care from hospital and I feel very lucky to have found Kirkley Lodge. The facilities are excellent with lovely, clean rooms and spacious communal areas but the best thing is the staff who are just lovely, caring and really friendly. Nothing is too much trouble from the
housekeeping to the management team. As a relative, it's a blessing and I'm incredibly grateful to know Mum is being so well looked after. Thank you.

There has been a significant improvement in my mother's condition since entering the home from the hospital. Visitors are made welcome, and staff are generally very friendly. Overall, the experience has been positive, and my mother has settled in well. The management is approachable.

We found our friend very well looked after and settled well very quickly. He enjoyed his time in the home and was thoroughly spoilt by all the staff.
At the end of his life, he was completely looked after with so much love and care.
