Kirkley Lodge

Kirkley Lodge is a 'home from home' for its residents who are cared for by genuine carers sensitive to their needs. I have been visiting for nine years and it has only got better in that time!

I have been very happy with what I've seen so far since my mother came here 2 months ago. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Cleanliness of my mother's room and very prompt laundry service.

I have found the management and staff at Kirkley Lodge to be professional, polite, courteous and kind from the moment my brother and I made our first enquiry about my mother becoming a resident. Since she made Kirkley Lodge her home she has been treated with respect and all the staff are friendly and encouraging.

The pleasure of renewing contact with so many members of care staff after seven years was a bonus and speaks volumes about the high standard of Kirkley Lodge as a place of work. Happy staff provide the best customer service and this shone through every aspect of this excellent facility.

My mother was only in Kirkley Lodge for the last three months of her life. She had previously been there for several weeks before for respite and liked the place very much. She was not well for those three months and I felt the care, kindness and dedication of the staff looking after her was of the highest standard and I was pleased we had chosen Kirkley Lodge.

My stay at Kirkley Lodge has been made enjoyable by the politeness and kindness of all the staff. There was one hiccup, with my medication. My Piferdone couldn't be found (this is my must have medication). This was quite quickly sorted so the problem was solved. The Piferdone cannot be prescribed by my doctor or the local hospital but only another hospital. I think any care home should be aware of any problems that make a particular medication difficult to obtain. I think the review form should have a Very Good square between Good and Excellent (the difference is too big). If I need care/support in the future I would certainly stay at Kirkley Lodge again and would recommend Kirkley Lodge (certainly with the staff you have now).

The care home is very welcoming and homely. The staff are extremely courteous and really do 'care' for the other residents. Next to living at home, I feel this care home is the best. Excellent rooms and the food is really good and varied. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they make you feel like a member of a large family. I go away with the knowledge that my husband is getting the best care and attention and is extremely settled and happy there. Couldn't ask for more!

After a short stay in hospital we had to find somewhere for my mum with 24-hour care in a hurry so that she could come home - as she was already an Anchor resident, we contacted Kirkley Lodge. What a fantastic find. The home is lovely, the care team are great, each showing wonderful care and skill in welcoming mum and looking after her. My mum is settled and happy and the team cope with whatever she needs. We are very happy and an extra thank you to the management team who have made the overall process so easy! Just one negative comment, access in the evening to the building is difficult as the bell is not always working.

Staff and management are extremely caring. Food not always hot. Kirkley Lodge is a happy upbeat place for loved ones to live. Visits are always made pleasant.

My mum has settled into her new home. It is a home from home. She gets on well with all staff and enjoys all activities and all meals. There is always something to do at Kirkley Lodge.

Mam has lived here just over a year, she seems very happy and settled. The staff are really good with mam and if we have a query or a problem they always do there best to deal with it.

Cannot complain. Service is first class all round. My friend has been well cared for by everyone.

My mother has been in this wonderful care home since December. She had to leave her own home because she had a stroke and needed 24-hour care. She has been and is being cared for by the wonderful staff beyond our expectations. Her every need is cared for. The carers are wonderful, they treat her like she is their own mother/grandmother. The food and snacks are excellent. My mother has gone from size 14 to 18. At the first sign that my mother needs a doctor or water sample required, the staff act immediately. The activities are great. singers and musicians call regularly. They had a day at the seaside plus other outings, including Queens Gardens to name a few. Only criticism is that the place needs updating. The building looks a bit neglected.
