Mum came to Montrose in mid-December following 2 stints in hospital due to falls. From day one mum has been treated with the utmost care and respect. The staff are wonderful, helpful and considerate. Mum has settled in very well, and to know that she is safe, happy and well cared for is a huge relief. Thank you.

I work abroad so don't get home often, so responsibility to care for mum has fallen on my sister. As this burden became too much, especially following on from mum having numerous falls at home she came into Montrose in December 2025. Wow...What a difference! mum is happy, relaxed loves being in the company of others. She loves the staff and is so very settled. My sister is now able to be a daughter. So a perfect result all round.

My mum became a resident (at Montrose Hall) at the end of January, following an illness after Xmas when it became apparent that living independently was no longer viable. Although it has been less than a month to date, her general demeanour and outlook have become more positive, and she seems generally happy to have taken up residence. Not only am I very grateful to the management staff, but the overall improvement to the quality of life cannot be underestimated.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at Montrose. Each and every one of them goes above and beyond to meet my mums care needs and the love and support they show not only to my mum but to us as a family is incredible.
My mum always has a smile on her face and is kept safe, entertained and loved.
The facilities are fantastic and the staff are always doing something to keep the residents occupied and entertained.
The food always smells and looks delicious and the whole home is always spotless and smelling fresh.

I would recommend Montrose Hall to anybody in a heart beat, I would move in myself if I could!

Mum moved into Montrose in November. We were all worried about it, but the carers are amazing and mum says she's really comfortable. She says she feels safe and at peace, which makes us all so happy. The room is lovely and mum thinks she's still at home it's so cosy. Within the first few weeks she's been out to a garden centre and watched an Elvis impersonator. Much more than she'd been doing whilst living alone. A big thank you to all the staff!

After a long and difficult year(staying in various assessment units), my aunt moved in to Montrose hall 6 weeks ago. Although she was initially wary , she seems to have settled in well. First and foremost the staff all seem brilliant, everyone I have met have been respectful, friendly and helpful towards both my aunt and myself . From the manager, deputy, seniors, carers, laundry and domestic staff - absolutely everyone has been consistently kind, interested and thoughtful. Although my aunt is not very communicative, staff are gently encouraging her and getting to know her needs and wants.

The home itself is lovely, very clean bright and well maintained. The dementia friendly decor makes it very welcoming, the facilities are great with different themed communal areas. Her bedroom is very comfortable, a good size and well furnished. I am very confident that my aunt will be happy and cared for here.I feel this is a high quality care home with amazing staff.

Communication poor. Residents' needs not met. Home said couldn't meet them ie hygiene, nutrition, elimination (this is not a nursing need). Staff frequently sat at a table on their phones - not professional. Relative sat in chair at 11:45 am, covered in scrambled egg (staff knew she couldn't feed herself). No communication from management re terminating. After a hospital stay measures not put back in place to lessen number of falls. (We accepted that she would fall and never blamed anyone). Received a letter stating we hadn't paid May fees (we had). It appeared we had been refunded too much but no one seemd to accept that initially). Totally unprofessional.

Since my mum moved into Montrose Hall she has improved greatly. Mum fell and broke her hip and required support to start walking again. The staff at Montrose Hall have been amazinf and have gone above and beyond for my mum and us as a family. Mum is now walking! Mum feels safe and is very happy. We as a family are extremely grateful for all the support we have received from all the staff and the management team. Montrose Hall has lots of activities for Mum to get involved in and Mum has even been recognised for her veteran status.

Inside is clean & well cared for, really nice caring staff that interact well with the residents. Rooms have a TV, and a small fan. The corridors have fun themes to them.
Personal Items do wander due to residents' dementia, so mark all your stuff clearly! Take a picture of any glasses :)
Nice gardens, although we didn't go out during visits, was nice to look out of the window to see them.
Cons:
Would highly recommend classical, or golden oldies era music over modern day music played during the day, especially as that has been shown to help dementia patients, was mostly present-day radio. I was present when an hour of oldies (1950 - 1970's) was on and the residents began humming along, some even singing lyrics but many of the people who looked lost in their own world became more animated.
Some air freshener for the corridors, as they have a bit of a weird chemical smell.

Needs info on how to get in on weekends, as it's not clear.

Montrose Hall has a friendly feel to it from just entering. My friend, who is in the early stages of dementia, says he is happy here. What particularly impressed me is that there are couches for residents to sit on in the corridor if they are having a little walk. The grounds are all enclosed, making it safe for them to get fresh air outside. Other establishments I have visited in the past with my relatives have felt like prisons at times.

Overall the care provided is very good. Staff are caring and supportive. The home is very clean and well maintained. Activities are regularly provided and the food is of an excellent standard. The security for residents is good but not for personal belongings, although staff have listened to our concerns and recently taken steps to improve this. On two occasions our relative has not had a bra on or her own knickers although all were labelled which cause a loss of dignity and distress.
