When visiting my mother here for the last few years she seems happy enough but she does need persuading to shower/bathe herself.

Since management changes, many improvements were seen across the care home, which is much more pleasant on the eye (in facilities/home). Great staff, who not only care for our loved ones but who enjoy their work. This is seen when they are around residents and family. Manager change, the new manager
is a great role model to all her staff, and should be praised for it.

Mum has been at Montrose since May 2023 and the care she has received has been amazing. All the staff are so friendly. Mum has dementia and lost my dad in April last year. She has struggled but the staff have ensured that she has everything she needs to feel at home. Would strongly recommend Montrose
to anyone looking for a home away from home for their loved ones. As a family, we have always felt welcome at any of the events and just general visits are made warm and friendly.

Living abroad and only being able to visit my Mum once a month, it is very important for me to know that she is happy and well cared for. Mum enjoys all the activities and days out. She loves having her hair and nails done. She enjoys her food and being able to have a cup of tea on demand! The staff
are very friendly and I have no worries about Mum's care so that is a great relief for me.

All staff are so lovely, there are different areas for residents to sit eg library area, bar, park benches and it has a nice feeling when visiting. The main room is like a living room in your own home (just bigger).
Activities were going on today while I was visiting my father-in-law.
The resident's
rooms are great, each looking like they have its own front door, with a number etc on, which makes you feel like it's your own house you're going into. The home is lovely and warm.

My mum has been a resident at Montrose since January 2023. The love and care she is shown is excellent. The staff are kind and helpful. The rooms are tidy and clean. It is such a relief for the family to know she (my mum) is being cared for properly. They seem to keep the residents entertained well,
with some superb visits from the Elvis entertainer, which Mum loved.

Overall, this is a great care home. Attentive staff that show a lot of care towards my mum. She is happy where she is and anything brought up is dealt with. She is looked after well regarding her personal care, she is always clean and tidy. The staff help her with all her needs up to where they are
allowed. She is fed to a satisfactory level and they do regular activities that test their minds. Overall, me and my family are very happy where she is and feel she is being cared for by some lovely staff. Thank you to you all.

A family friend has recently moved into Montrose Hall. Instantly her anxiety settled. I believe this is due to the security she now feels. Every visit she is always content and full of praise for the staff and the meals. All staff engage with clients and treat them with great respect and genuine care.

My grandma moved to Montrose Hall on 6th December 2020, which was the best thing for her, but the hardest decision for us as a family. Our first contact was with the admin and a carer, who made the transitions so much easier in every aspect. Covid then hit, and we couldn't visit, which was heartbreaking,
but she was looked after impeccably, for which we will be forever grateful. Constant carers are essential for people suffering from dementia to support their well-being and safety needs which is lovely to see. One member of staff is and continues to be an excellent member of the Montrose team.

Our Mum was admitted to the home in August 2019 after my sister had looked after her for two years and we realised we could no longer keep her safe. We got a phone call on Thursday the 29th of December to say Mum was nil by mouth as she could no longer swallow due to her dementia. Us 4 children virtually
never left her side, and we were able to spend three days with our beautiful mum.
On top of caring for all the residents, the staff have done everything to ensure we have been watered, fed and kept comfortable, nothing has been too much for them.
You really are unsung heroes, low paid and antisocial working hours to take care of every need of our most vulnerable elderly relatives. Words cannot express our gratitude to each and every one of you angels. We could all see how much you loved our Mum Thank you so much for keeping her safe night and day, it has been very tough with COVID but you all keep on going like true professionals. This is a wonderful care home and highly recommend it.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Montrose Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Montrose Hall is calculated as follows: ( (441 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 533 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Montrose Hall is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
