Anchor’s Firth House is located at the heart of Selby, in a quiet area within a mile of Selby Abbey. The home is Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accredited to be able to provide personalised care for veterans.

The home provides residential and dementia care for residents in single en suite rooms and continues to welcome new residents.

Anchor provide care for older people living with dementia care and provide training to ensure their approach is best for people living with dementia.

Staff work hard to build relationships and ensure all aspects of the service provided is focused on personalised, compassionate care. Firth House offers residential, dementia and respite care.

Dad was admitted in February 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances. It was a very trying time for dad and myself as he was adamant that he would never go into care and was quite resistant with all the staff. All the staff were absolutely brilliant with him and his moods and behaviour they deserve a medal.
Now June he has settled and has started to join in the activities, something that I never thought I would see him do. Thanks to all the staff.

My father-in-law looks amazing. Such a change. The best thing was to move him into Firth House. The home is amazing, excellent care, Excellent staff. He loves the activities, to see him so happy is such a relief. Senior staff are so wonderful and keep us informed of everything. 1st class home, one happy

MY mother lived at Firth House for 6 years. She suffered from ongoing dementia during this period, the experience that both my mother and myself was always super. I got to know the manager and the staff well and often shared a cup of tea during my visits. Prior to my mother moving into Firth House was
quite insular, bordering on anti-social, but thanks to the daily activities, she became more cheerful and socialised with other residents - thank you.

Firth House was Dad's happy home for over 2 years. All the staff treated him with love and compassion, care and dignity. He enjoyed many of the activities especially a new found enthusiasm for dancing and meeting visiting furry friends including a llama and a sheep. On Burns night, the haggis was ceremonially
accompanied by a bagpiper in full regalia. Words cannot express my gratitude for helping my mum and I with such kindness at a very difficult time.

Since my mother moved into Firth House she has improved tremendously, physical health and well being compared to when she was living at home. The staff are all wonderful and the food is excellent with plenty of daily activities which my mother enjoys.

I am a friend of a service user who lives at Firth House, all I can say is this care home is fabulous. The staff are so caring, efficient and welcoming, the range of activities and special events they do are great for the residents and get everyone involved. It's like one big family, they love it when

Firth house is a wonderful place for my nana. I would fully recommend it. It is like home from home. From the minute you walk inside staff greet you like family. They know every resident as if they were their own relatives and the compassion they have for each individual is obvious. My nana is always
clean when we visit, wearing her own clean clothes with her hair done and is often engaged in activities arranged by the home, which is great as she is quite a sociable sort. We are allowed to take the dog to see her as she adores dogs and they facilitate us taking Nana out to town with the loan of a wheelchair etc. I doubt there are many care homes left as brilliant as Firth house! Keep up the good work team!
