My wife recently died. She had been a resident of Firth House for almost 3 years. Throughout her stay my wife was always treated with kindness in a dignified but loving manner. This was done in a very professional way by well trained staff working well together. A credit to good management and training.
Her room was always immaculate and her personal presentation excellent. As our family is spread around Europe ease of clear communication was essential. We have no complaints. It was a momentous decision to move my wife into care. It quickly became apparent that the loving care and professionalism provided by Firth House far exceeded what was possible at home. This continued right up until her recent death. As a family we are forever grateful to the wonderful manager and her excellent team.

On seeing mam for the first time in her room at the Firth House I saw calm and content in her expression and body language people overseeing mam and the establishment was a great relief and happiness. Great choice and would recommend it.

My wife and I attended a Coronation Party put on by the care home for the residents. It was a lovely and friendly party and the food laid on was very tasty. My wife and I were treated to the food and drink which was a very generous treat and my mum had a lovely time!

My husband has been a resident of Firth House since October last. I have nothing but praise for the home. I go in very regularly and I have never heard anyone being impatient with the residents. My husband has advanced dementia and is very happy and contented there.

Firth House Care Home is a very welcoming place both outside and in, when you arrive the staff that you meet are efficient and bright and cheerful (as my mum-in-law says, full of fun). The decor is bright and pictures on the walls, furniture looks inviting to sit in, not all mish-mash and odd bits of
furniture.
My mum-in-law landed on their doorstep (from hospital) at tea time and had a good night's sleep which says a lot as she is a very anxious/nervy person. We leave knowing she is well cared for and, most importantly, she is happy.

After a difficult decision of my grandma, who suffers from dementia and needs a care home, when looking around Firth House we felt that the atmosphere and feel of the home was the right place for her instantly. Since being in Firth House she has joined in activities and enjoyed singalongs it's great
to see this side of my grandma again and the Christmas activities and family lunch were a lovely way to spend time with her for her first Christmas in a care home.

I couldn't be happier with the care my grandma receives at Firth House, it is always clean and all the residents always look happy, healthy and warm. All my grandma's needs are met and the care home communicates well with all of our family. We speak highly of the home and the staff.

Staff at Frith House are welcoming and efficient. Covid restrictions were implemented and maintained strictly. During lockdown, staff kept us well informed about the visiting arrangements. They also provided relevant information about residents. Many of the staff have worked there for years, and that
means there is a wealth of experience. In pre-Covid times, a wide range of activities was operated, benefiting residents. I have visited a number of care homes, and I consider that Frith House is well managed by committed and enthusiastic staff, meeting needs in a caring and sensitive way.

Mum recently moved into Firth House, having spent several weeks in hospital. The staff couldn't have done more to make her feel welcome and settle her in, and she keeps telling me they are all very kind and look after her well. The home is kept very clean, and the food always looks tasty and appetising
with a good variety and voice. All the residents seem very happy and well cared for with plenty of activities to keep them entertained.

Knowing mum is well looked after and cared for gives us so much peace of mind as a family, following a fall mum was in hospital before social care took over and she was placed in a home. Her property went missing, she hardly ate and the staff hardly knew her, my daughter found Firth house and we haven't
looked back, she is safe and happy and I couldn't ask for more. We are very happy and as is mum!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.988)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.988) out of 10 for Firth House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.988 for Firth House is calculated as follows: ( (395 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 400 Ratings = 4.988
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Firth House is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
