Anchor’s Firth House is located at the heart of Selby, in a quiet area within a mile of Selby Abbey. The home is Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accredited to be able to provide personalised care for veterans.

The home provides residential and dementia care for residents in single en suite rooms and continues to welcome new residents.

Anchor provide care for older people living with dementia care and provide training to ensure their approach is best for people living with dementia.

Staff work hard to build relationships and ensure all aspects of the service provided is focused on personalised, compassionate care. Firth House offers residential, dementia and respite care.

The organisation has 60 years of experience in providing care homes and housing for older people on a not-for-profit basis.

During my mum’s stay at Firth House, the care given to my mum was the very best. But especially the last week of her life, I had the phone call to say my mum had been placed on end of life, I live two hours away and made the journey to be with my mum. The manager gave me permission to stay as long as
I needed to and the care given to my mum was tender and also the care given to me during my stay I wanted for nothing. I slept in the same room in a chair with my mum for 4 days until she passed. I was provided with food endless supply of coffee and the use of a shower room to freshen up. I couldn’t have asked for a more caring home with staff that was so patient with my mum and the caring nature towards me. I am glad that the last few years and especially the last few days of mum’s life was in this loving caring environment. Total admiration and respect for all the staff and managers at Firth House.

My Gran stays in this home! It is amazing, it is like a true family! The care they provide is second to none and I wouldn’t want my Gran anywhere else. She is so happy and settled, the staff treat her so kindly as if she is part of their family. It’s amazing to see the interactions, the family days
and the events which they put on for the residents regularly. Obviously with the current climate times are tough on everyone but you wouldn’t know it with the way the team at Firth House still go above and beyond! I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone!

My mother had a bad experience in a previous home in which they couldn't meet her needs etc.. and she sadly lost my dad through the beginning of the lockdown. Locally we found Firth House that my mum was assessed and they could meet my mum's needs we are so grateful for the kindness and assistance and
loving at Firth House that they have given. My mother is eating better she has now put on weight and other needs have been put into place we are now getting to visit and take my mum out, so thank you, Firth House, the manager, deputy manager and the carers you are all giving my mum excellent care she is so happy to be here where she can call home.

Firth house provided my mother with excellent care, and have been fantastic throughout this whole pandemic. The staff there are brilliant and kept us in contact through virtual media platforms. It’s not just a care facility they class it as their home. From the family perspective it gives us great comfort
that our mother is being well cared for and she is very happy, I would highly recommend Firth House for anyone looking for a care home for there family members safe in the knowledge they will be safe and well looked after.

Firth House is providing excellent care and support to my Mum who suffers from dementia. She went into Firth House during lockdown and it was a particularly difficult and challenging time, but Mum settled in well and continues to be happy there. The staff are what really makes the difference and they
keep us informed and nothing is ever any trouble for them. It is so reassuring to know that she is being so well cared for by such a professional and caring team. I would definitely recommend Firth House to anyone in a similar situation.

My mother who suffers from Dementia has been a resident of Firth House for 3 years. Although at times she can be quite difficult I cannot thank the staff at Firth House enough for she has continually been treated with the greatest respect and care and knowing her final years are in such an excellent
environment takes a great weight off my shoulders.

My lovely sister was in the care of Firth House for a number of months and the care she received was the best I have seen in a nursing home. Having worked in this environment myself in Scotland I knew what to look for in regards care etc and this place fulfilled all those requirements. A special mention
to the manager who made sure everyone got the care they needed and is a vital part of the home. Sadly my sister died in April this year at the home and the end of life care was excellent, I’m so grateful for that.

Firth House provided excellent care and support to my mum for over a year.
Mum was living with dementia and was finally taken by cancer.
The staff were brilliant with Mum, she had great fun and really enjoyed her stay.
In an organisation it’s the staff that make the difference and I cannot
praise them enough. The home is also very close to the centre of Selby which made taking Mum for those memorable days out really easy.

Living experience is exceptional. The staff are led by a very caring and experienced Manager.

Mum lived there from March 2019 until May 2020 when she passed away. Prior to that she had been there for respite. Her care was very good although she wasn’t always the easiest person to care for. The food - excellent and they were constantly reviewing her diet and fluid intake due to her low weight.
There are lots of activities to do although mum only liked the music ones despite the carers trying to get her to join in. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the home. The manager is excellent and sorted any problems immediately and was very supportive of my husband and myself too.

It was lovely to be able to see Dad after so many weeks of lockdown. He looked really well and he recognised me even with a mask on. The facilities were great, out in the garden in a gazebo - brilliant! The manager and staff recognized the importance of visits from family and made this happen as soon
as they were able. They have done a great job during this crisis.

Mother-in-law is 96 and moved into Firth House in January 2020 due to mobility problems. She was made to feel at home straight away and the quality of care and caring nature of the staff has been truly exceptional. She is always treated with respect and the genuine care shown has resulted in her fully
accepting that she is in the best place and very well looked after. The family was very concerned she would be demanding to go home within a couple of weeks as she is very independent-minded. Much to our amazement, this has not been the case and this is definitely down to the caring nature of the staff. They always put their residents needs first and we can not praise them too highly. They are a credit to their profession and themselves and have gained the complete respect of all our family. In these very difficult times, they have gone well beyond their simple duty of care in looking after mother-in-law and in treating her as a member of their extended family have become an extended part of ours.
