The home smelt fresh on arrival. Staff introduced themselves at reception and on the wing. The atmosphere was pleasant; it felt calm.

Mum recently moved into Firth House, having spent several weeks in hospital. The staff couldn't have done more to make her feel welcome and settle her in, and she keeps telling me they are all very kind and look after her well. The home is kept very clean, and the food always looks tasty and appetising with a good variety and voice. All the residents seem very happy and well cared for with plenty of activities to keep them entertained.

Knowing mum is well looked after and cared for gives us so much peace of mind as a family, following a fall mum was in hospital before social care took over and she was placed in a home. Her property went missing, she hardly ate and the staff hardly knew her, my daughter found Firth house and we haven't looked back, she is safe and happy and I couldn't ask for more. We are very happy and as is mum!

Frith House is very well run. They take good care of Mum and keep me well informed of and included in all aspects of her care. They have provided the best possible care during the pandemic.

Thank you to the manager and all the staff.

My husband has been a resident of Firth House since July 2020, through the difficult struggles of the Covid epidemic. The Home is very well run. Management is friendly, experienced and efficient. Residents are treated with love, care and dignity and it is a safe happy place to live. Would definitely recommend.

On the whole I am satisfied with the care and services provided. It's difficult to judge from the few times I have been to Firth house. Recent times must have been very difficult due to the health situation, but I'm sure everyone must have been doing their best to cope and adapt. Although my mother can be stubborn and refuse help, care, taking part in activities etc. a little more encouragement could be used by the staff.

Access to the garden with a member of staff to get some fresh air and also have a cigarette from time to time would be very welcomed. It's one of the few pleasures in life that she appreciates and would like that to be taken into consideration. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to review Firth House and we are pleased that you rate our overall experience as very good. We have a daily, weekly and monthly activity programme, which has been arranged with our resident's input. We also have one to one activities, but respect our resident's wishes...

I feel that Firth House is a well run, caring, friendly and welcoming home. The 'Covid period' was extremely stressful and I felt my sister was always safe. The staff I have spoken to are always helpful and pleasant and nothing too much trouble and my sister's needs are always well catered for.
The Manager and Deputy Manager know all the residents and their interaction with my sister is brilliant.
I am delighted my sister is a resident in Firth House and have no cause to be anxious about her care and wellbeing, all her needs are continually met. The weekly activities programme is always a very interesting and an exciting mix.

I would completely recommend Firth House to anyone who needed that 'special, caring place' for a loved family member.

Knowing that Mum is safe and well cared for gives peace of mind to my sister and myself. I don't know how we would have coped during the pandemic without Mum being a resident of Firth house. Thank you to all the staff.

During my mum’s stay at Firth House, the care given to my mum was the very best. But especially the last week of her life, I had the phone call to say my mum had been placed on end of life, I live two hours away and made the journey to be with my mum. The manager gave me permission to stay as long as I needed to and the care given to my mum was tender and also the care given to me during my stay I wanted for nothing. I slept in the same room in a chair with my mum for 4 days until she passed. I was provided with food endless supply of coffee and the use of a shower room to freshen up. I couldn’t have asked for a more caring home with staff that was so patient with my mum and the caring nature towards me. I am glad that the last few years and especially the last few days of mum’s life was in this loving caring environment. Total admiration and respect for all the staff and managers at Firth House.

My Gran stays in this home! It is amazing, it is like a true family! The care they provide is second to none and I wouldn’t want my Gran anywhere else. She is so happy and settled, the staff treat her so kindly as if she is part of their family. It’s amazing to see the interactions, the family days and the events which they put on for the residents regularly. Obviously with the current climate times are tough on everyone but you wouldn’t know it with the way the team at Firth House still go above and beyond! I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone!

My mother had a bad experience in a previous home in which they couldn't meet her needs etc.. and she sadly lost my dad through the beginning of the lockdown. Locally we found Firth House that my mum was assessed and they could meet my mum's needs we are so grateful for the kindness and assistance and loving at Firth House that they have given. My mother is eating better she has now put on weight and other needs have been put into place we are now getting to visit and take my mum out, so thank you, Firth House, the manager, deputy manager and the carers you are all giving my mum excellent care she is so happy to be here where she can call home.

Firth house provided my mother with excellent care, and have been fantastic throughout this whole pandemic. The staff there are brilliant and kept us in contact through virtual media platforms. It’s not just a care facility they class it as their home. From the family perspective it gives us great comfort that our mother is being well cared for and she is very happy, I would highly recommend Firth House for anyone looking for a care home for there family members safe in the knowledge they will be safe and well looked after.

My mother who suffers from Dementia has been a resident of Firth House for 3 years. Although at times she can be quite difficult I cannot thank the staff at Firth House enough for she has continually been treated with the greatest respect and care and knowing her final years are in such an excellent environment takes a great weight off my shoulders.

My lovely sister was in the care of Firth House for a number of months and the care she received was the best I have seen in a nursing home. Having worked in this environment myself in Scotland I knew what to look for in regards care etc and this place fulfilled all those requirements. A special mention to the manager who made sure everyone got the care they needed and is a vital part of the home. Sadly my sister died in April this year at the home and the end of life care was excellent, I’m so grateful for that.

Firth House provided excellent care and support to my mum for over a year.
Mum was living with dementia and was finally taken by cancer.
The staff were brilliant with Mum, she had great fun and really enjoyed her stay.

In an organisation it’s the staff that make the difference and I cannot praise them enough. The home is also very close to the centre of Selby which made taking Mum for those memorable days out really easy.
