Anchor’s Firth House is located at the heart of Selby, in a quiet area within a mile of Selby Abbey. The home is Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accredited to be able to provide personalised care for veterans.

The home provides residential and dementia care for residents in single en suite rooms and continues to welcome new residents.

Anchor provide care for older people living with dementia care and provide training to ensure their approach is best for people living with dementia.

Staff work hard to build relationships and ensure all aspects of the service provided is focused on personalised, compassionate care. Firth House offers residential, dementia and respite care.

The organisation has 60 years of experience in providing care homes and housing for older people on a not-for-profit basis.

Our granny had lived at Firth House for around two and a half years, in this time she had declined in her physical and mental health but the staff at Firth House made a great effort to maintain her care and dignity, giving reassurance and support throughout to granny and our family. Unfortunately, granny
became unexpectedly poorly and required end-of-life care. The staff at Firth House supported us as a family to keep granny comfortable and content in her own room as she saw this as her home, the staff at Firth House generally work very hard at keeping residents happy and safe but as granny was near the end of her life they absolutely excelled at ensuring she and our family had everything needed for her final stages of life. Thank you so much for the kindness and care given to granny throughout her stay at Firth House.

My mother-in-law was in a care home in Germany for 2 years, both her physical and mental health declined significantly over the last six months; exasperated by regular falls. We resigned ourselves that she would not improve and brought her back to be close to us all. The interactions with the staff
and the care attention (after only 2 days) at Firth House, were so significant that one can only draw the conclusion that a well-staffed and caring residential home is key to ensuring the dignity of the elderly.
We arrived to find an eagerly chatty, engaging lady, well cared for. To top it off, she no longer feared getting up to walk, although aided she walked to the dining room, something we thought was impossible.
Thank you to the team leader and the rest of the staff.
If I was to encapsulate the ethos of Firth House; the energy is extremely positive, the patients are treated with dignity and an abundance of respect.

My grandad has been in Firth House now for over a year and I'm so thankful for how well cared for he is. Ever since day one and settling Firth House care staff have been there and ensure every single aspect of grandad's well well-being is catered for. Upon visits to grandad he always states how happy
he is and how well cared for he is and that he is in such a good home. He literally has nothing but praise and appreciation for the whole team, and him smiling on every visit gives so much reassurance. When tough days have come there's always been staff about with absolute care and understanding and always been able to feel I can speak to someone. It's lovely to see social postings within the care home as a whole including activities within the main lounge and residents being involved with every aspect. I'm so grateful my grandad has gone to live in a care setting where every single member gives the most professional care. Thank you so much to you all.

Mum is well settled and comfortable and obviously enjoying the food provided. Whilst she doesn't remember the various activities it is a comfort seeing the various social media updates where she is obviously fully engaged and enjoying her time there. The staff are all very caring and I get comfort myself
knowing she is well cared for.

Very good to be around, they are brilliant with the residents, very very helpful, and the manager is so helpful with everyone. My uncle is like my dad because he brought me up and only the best will do. He loves it at Firth House and they all love him, but not as much as me.

My mother has been a resident of Firth House for several years and the care she has received has been first-class. The staff are wonderful in the way they care for her, they treat her with respect ensuring her dignity is respected at all times and her hygiene is cared for. I have confidence in approaching
management should I have any concerns knowing that they are acted on. The food is first class with a good menu.

The carers know and understand my mother-in-law’s needs and support her and us as a family they know her hygiene needs giving her everything in a caring way. The food is of a high quality and she has choices of dishes. I cannot praise the staff and management highly enough.

My mum was hospitalised after a fall and breaking her coccyx. I was concerned that she would have to go elsewhere for rehabilitation but Firth House took her back despite the extra work looking after Mum as she is unable to walk at the moment. They have been brilliant in accommodating her extra needs,
and the staff care very much about their long-term residents. They are kind and compassionate and deal in a business-like but humourous manner and are always empathetic and supportive to family members.

My father has received excellent care in Firth House. His care has become more demanding during the three and a half years he has been here, but staff have been very supportive to me and my father. As my father's disease progresses, we hope he'll be able to stay at Firth House. The meals are always
very good. The afternoon cakes and ice creams are always a treat! The activities are very valued and enjoyable. It's always a treat for my father that I can bring my dog too!

My wife recently died. She had been a resident of Firth House for almost 3 years. Throughout her stay my wife was always treated with kindness in a dignified but loving manner. This was done in a very professional way by well trained staff working well together. A credit to good management and training.
Her room was always immaculate and her personal presentation excellent. As our family is spread around Europe ease of clear communication was essential. We have no complaints. It was a momentous decision to move my wife into care. It quickly became apparent that the loving care and professionalism provided by Firth House far exceeded what was possible at home. This continued right up until her recent death. As a family we are forever grateful to the wonderful manager and her excellent team.

On seeing mam for the first time in her room at the Firth House I saw calm and content in her expression and body language people overseeing mam and the establishment was a great relief and happiness. Great choice and would recommend it.

My wife and I attended a Coronation Party put on by the care home for the residents. It was a lovely and friendly party and the food laid on was very tasty. My wife and I were treated to the food and drink which was a very generous treat and my mum had a lovely time!

My husband has been a resident of Firth House since October last. I have nothing but praise for the home. I go in very regularly and I have never heard anyone being impatient with the residents. My husband has advanced dementia and is very happy and contented there.
