We moved my mother into The Mill House in January this year. She was failing in health and not responding to care in her previous home. The staff at the Mill House made it their responsibility to care and motivate her towards recovery. Since the move she has regained both physical strength and cognitive
awareness. She is very happy and the staff have been the key factor in her change. A lovely home.

My husband was assessed by The Mill House for respite care. I was very thorough in describing his needs and they were happy to accept him. He fell 16 times in the 2 weeks he was there. There was a lack of communication between the home and myself and between one shift and the next. Remembering that
my husband has Alzheimers and needs others to help him on and off the toilet, which they were aware of, I feel he should not have been accepted there. The staff were lovely with him, but his needs were not met. On coming home, he fell on the doorstep and is now in hospital. There is no duty manager on at night.

My mother moved in to The Mill House in September 2024 and we are really sad to have to move her into a nursing home due to her being diagnosed with a rare brain condition and her needs being out of the scope of what can be managed at the home.
Her time at the home has been a happy one, she settled
quickly and made many friends and enjoyed the varied range of activities on offer . The Mill House is a beautiful home which feels more like a lovely hotel and it is a pleasure to visit and spend time in lovely surroundings. The staff have truly gone above and beyond to adapt to mums ever changing symptoms and have done their very best to help her and us navigate a difficult time. The management have been outstanding in their support with the difficulties we have faced and their door has always been open .
We are sad she is having to move on but also grateful to the Mill House for their support. A beautiful home highly recommended .

My very elderly mother came to The Mill House for respite care, but deteriorated and died a few days after coming.
The home is beautifully presented, but more importantly, the staff were all incredibly kind and caring. Altogether a first class experience.

Mill House staff continue to provide outstanding care to my parents, who live in an assisted living apartment. Without exception, the staff give them exceptional support, always with a smile, even when it must be tough going! Recently my mother was in hospital for a month and they did a sterling job

My Mother-in-law has been at The Mill since it has been open. She has been at the end of her life for the past three years at least four times the doctor has told us she had twenty-four hours to live. The carers at The Mill House say she is not going anywhere, she is still here because of the care and
love of the staff at The Mill House.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Mill House to anybody who needs the services.
If it was not for the care of the staff and the attention to detail she would have died years ago. Well done keep it up.

The staff at The Mill House are excellent they show that nothing is too much trouble you can see that the residences are all happy clean and very well looked after.
The Mill House has a homely atmosphere and they have a lot of entertainment.

On walking in it is an excellent visual impression with a lovely light and welcoming atmosphere. The coffee bar makes a sociable and friendly community hub. Despite the difficulty of leaving her home (not wanting to leave), I think she has settled in well, couldn't think of a better place for her to be. Really happy with the care Mum is given. I just wish she would use the activities on offer more often. From our point of view it has been a massive weight
off our shoulders to know Mum has 24/7 care if anything goes wrong medically it is dealt with.

My mum came to The Mill House in September 2024. We looked at 10 care homes but knew straight away that The Mill House was the right choice for my mum. The home is stunning, it feels like a luxury hotel rather than a care home. The staff are wonderful and my mum receives a high level of care. There
are daily activities, trips out and they even have their own canal barge. My mum is happy, we are happy. Communication is excellent and we know my mum is cared for, well-fed, warm and comfortable. This is a five-star care home on all levels.

We have been delighted with all aspects of The Mill House since my mother moved in. The staff, without exception, are excellent and very caring. They show such patience with every individual resident and know how to care for them all. In addition, they are a delight to talk to when visiting my mother.
Nothing is too much trouble for them. The care plans are kept up to date, they know what my mother prefers to eat etc. Communication from the admin staff is wonderful and we have no concerns at all.

My mother has been a resident at Mill House for just over a year now and although it took her a while to settle in, she now classes it as her home.
All the carers and staff have been absolutely brilliant, some going above and beyond (you know who you are) dealing with some difficult situations.
This
is a beautiful home with professional, caring and understanding staff and I wouldn't want Mum to be anywhere else.

Sharleen Polley

Hello, I am Sharleen Polley, general manager of The Mill House care home and The Mill Lodge care suites. I have worked for Anchor for 9 years and previously I was the manager at Anchor’s Thornton Hill care home which we decanted and moved into The Mill House in July 2023.


As a home manager, I am very passionate about leading and equipping my team with the knowledge and resources to enable them to deliver the highest standards of care and services to those who choose to live with us. I take great pride in ensuring the residents are at the heart of all the decisions I make. Please know my door is always open.


Away from work, I love going long walks with my dog and going on holidays.
