My very elderly mother came to The Mill House for respite care, but deteriorated and died a few days after coming.

The home is beautifully presented, but more importantly, the staff were all incredibly kind and caring. Altogether a first class experience.

Mill House staff continue to provide outstanding care to my parents, who live in an assisted living apartment. Without exception, the staff give them exceptional support, always with a smile, even when it must be tough going! Recently my mother was in hospital for a month and they did a sterling job keeping my dad upbeat, and with her aftercare on return.

My Mother-in-law has been at The Mill since it has been open. She has been at the end of her life for the past three years at least four times the doctor has told us she had twenty-four hours to live. The carers at The Mill House say she is not going anywhere, she is still here because of the care and love of the staff at The Mill House.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Mill House to anybody who needs the services.

If it was not for the care of the staff and the attention to detail she would have died years ago. Well done keep it up.

My mother has been in the care of the manager for over 6 years and it's only with the care she has received that my mother is here today.

I will recommend the Mill House to anyone who asks me.

On walking in it is an excellent visual impression with a lovely light and welcoming atmosphere. The coffee bar makes a sociable and friendly community hub. Every member of staff has been kind, helpful and caring not only to residents but to all who enter. Nothing seems too much trouble. The food is excellent, the service in the restaurant is tailored to the individuals. The service in communal areas and to the rooms is excellent, cleanliness outstanding. My sister could not have a better service anywhere. Frequent visits out, Brilliant.

My mum came to The Mill House in September 2024. We looked at 10 care homes but knew straight away that The Mill House was the right choice for my mum. The home is stunning, it feels like a luxury hotel rather than a care home. The staff are wonderful and my mum receives a high level of care. There are daily activities, trips out and they even have their own canal barge. My mum is happy, we are happy. Communication is excellent and we know my mum is cared for, well-fed, warm and comfortable. This is a five-star care home on all levels.

We have been delighted with all aspects of The Mill House since my mother moved in. The staff, without exception, are excellent and very caring. They show such patience with every individual resident and know how to care for them all. In addition, they are a delight to talk to when visiting my mother. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The care plans are kept up to date, they know what my mother prefers to eat etc. Communication from the admin staff is wonderful and we have no concerns at all.

My mother has been a resident at Mill House for just over a year now and although it took her a while to settle in, she now classes it as her home.
All the carers and staff have been absolutely brilliant, some going above and beyond (you know who you are) dealing with some difficult situations.
This is a beautiful home with professional, caring and understanding staff and I wouldn't want Mum to be anywhere else.

Many thanks to everyone, everything you do is very much appreciated.

My mother returned to The Mill House in early October after a couple of weeks in hospital. On discharge we were advised she was probably approaching the end of her life. Since her return to The Mill House she has received a high level of care and as each day has passed she has become stronger and her health has improved. Her amazing improvement can only be put down to the gentle, supportive care and knowledge of the staff team who have looked after her with compassion and dignity.

Since my mum came into Mill House, she has received outstanding care and support from all the staff at all times.
She absolutely loves being there amongst very friendly residents and made friends very quickly with both staff and guests.

The entertainment provided in the home is wonderful and Mum especially loved the boat trip on the canal. The Mill House deserves a five star review. We couldn't have chosen a better place for Mum to enjoy her latter years. Thank you to everyone.

Hello, I am Sharleen Polley, general manager of The Mill House care home and The Mill Lodge care suites. I have worked for Anchor for 9 years and previously I was the manager at Anchor’s Thornton Hill care home which we decanted and moved into The Mill House in July 2023.

As a home manager, I am very passionate about leading and equipping my team with the knowledge and resources to enable them to deliver the highest standards of care and services to those who choose to live with us. I take great pride in ensuring the residents are at the heart of all the decisions I make. Please know my door is always open.

Away from work, I love going long walks with my dog and going on holidays.

My name is Jodi Carlisle. I have worked for Anchor for 20 years. I started as a care assistant and then completed my qualifications to progress to the role of Team Leader. Around 12 years ago I progressed to Deputy Manager. I love my role and I am passionate about ensuring our residents receive the highest standard of care. I have 3 children and we enjoy family time, games nights and trips to Cornwall to visit family.

My name is Alice Smith, I have worked for Anchor for 5 years. I started in 2019 as a team leader on nights. I then worked on days for a while, then I got promoted to Deputy Manager. I have worked in care for 26 years. I love my job and I take great pride in ensuring all our residents receive person-centred care to the highest level.

Jacqueline Ashley
Jacqueline AshleyJob Title Home AdministratorJoined 2012

My name is Jacqueline Ashley and I’m the Home Administrator at The Mill House and The Mill Lodge. I will support you and your loved ones with your resident contract, account management and other administrative duties. I moved to The Mill House after working at Anchor’s Thornton Hill Home for 11 years. Thornton Hill was a charming old Manor House, a stark contrast from The Mill House, which is a very luxurious brand new build.

The residents are still and always will be, the centre of our priority no matter where we are, but how lovely to care for them in such lovely surroundings.

When I am not at work I enjoy walking, wild swimming and being out in nature.
