Selkirk House team were literally life savers for my mum, Evon. She had a fall at home and they were incredibly supportive enabling me to come down from the Midlands. Once at the home, the management team came to say hello and made my mum feel welcomed and safe. The team leaders supported throughout her first 24 hours making sure she settled in. Sadly my mum then had to be admitted to hospital but I have no doubt she would have been cared for and supported throughout her stay. We will definitely look to book planned respite in the future.
Friend is a resident of many years, Jenifer, 94 yrs. Wonderful place to be, the care is amazing, the manager and staff are absolutely the best. I'm forever grateful that my mother lived here in the past, and Jenifer lives here and is very happy and blessed for all the activities and extra care they get here!
When mum arrived at Selkirk House care home after a lengthy stay in hospital after a fall, she was very confused and really not sure if permanent residential care was right for her. Here we are a few months later and mum is settled and happy to be in the home. Yes, her eating habits are somewhat poor, and she is paranoid about her possessions in her room, but she realises that she is in the best place. She likes and gets on with the staff members. Over the last few weeks she has started walking down to a few of the daily events. Well done to everyone at the home and thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to leave Selkirk House a review. We are delighted to hear that you have rated your overall experience as excellent. With the reassurance, encouragement, and support provided, it has been wonderful to see Mum gradually come out of her shell more and more. We are also so...
Selkirk House and staff continue to be the best I have experienced and the continued investment in training, facilities and comfort for residents is evident everywhere. Selkirk has a fabulous culture and it is noticeable that very good selection is made when staffing the premises. My mum is so content and this comes from well cared for and feeling safe 24/7. I feel supported 24/7 to support and continue to aid mum where I can.
I love visiting my granny at Selkirk. The staff are so lovely and it gives me peace of mind to know that she is well looked after and feels happy and safe.
Cosy and welcoming!
So pleased we used Selkirk House. The staff are so caring and friendly and the staff to resident ratio is excellent. Great choice of daily activities for all to enjoy. The food is varied and very good with lots of coffee and biscuits in between. Very well run good communication with relatives. Very, very pleased.
I am very happy that my mum is a resident at Selkirk House. I feel confident that she is cared for in a compassionate and professional manner appropriate to her needs. I feel I am able to speak with managers and staff about any concerns and I will be heard. The activities offered are varied and I am confident that, despite her infirmity, they ensure my mum's life in Selkirk. Selkirk House is a lovely place, staffed by lovely people.
My mum has been a resident at Selkirk for the best part of 3 years now. In that time, mum has received exemplary care from a team of truly wonderful staff. Mum frequently tells me that she feels very lucky to be a resident at Selkirk. She is very happy and knows that she is safe and well cared for. It is always such a pleasure when visiting mum, to share fun and laughter with staff and other residents. All mums needs are cared for and should any issues arise Selkirk are quick to communicate these to the family. It is very reassuring to know that mum is supportive and with such kindness and care.
Living abroad is not easy when family members are in declining health but we have returned to the UK 5 times over the last 12 months to see mum in Selkirk House. And on every occasion we have felt wonderfully reassured by the care being provided by Kate and her team. Not only are the management, maintenance, upkeep and procedures absolutely of the highest standard, but the kindness and genuine empathy of the team with the residents is something that is wonderful to see. I can not congratulate and thank all the staff at Selkirk House enough, and clearly I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the establishment.
I am so impressed with everything I have seen on my visits! The care shown by every single member of staff has amazed me. The food is high quality, the facilities, entertainment etc is more than I would have expected. But above all the care by the staff is second to none! I am booking myself a room here.
Dad has just moved into Selkirk House following the death of his wife. This was a move of over 100 miles, so a huge change on top of his loss. However this move has been made so much easier and smoother by all staff at Selkirk House.
From the initial contact with the wonderful admin staff to the pre assessment with the deputy manager, we were made to feel so welcome and that Dad's needs and happiness were all that mattered to them. Dad's room was repainted before his arrival and some furniture removed so that he could bring his own bits from home. The room is very spacious, a flat really, with a spacious wet room, two built in wardrobes and a large storage cupboard as well as a kitchen area so Dad can make a drink for himself or visitors if he wants to. Everything is centred around dad, and what he needs and his care plan can be changed at any time to suit him. The meals are amazing, tasty and plenty of choice. Every member of staff we have met are friendly and very happy to help.
From pre-assessment to move in everything was put in place. Training for diabetic was arranged. There was a lovely welcome basket with mums favourite things.
Mum is settling in well. I have not scored every area as mum has not been there long enough.
My mum has recently moved into Selkirk House. Mum had a lovely welcome basket with her favourite things. Mum has settled in well and made friends. The care has been good and all staff have made us feel welcome.
The staff are always there if you need help and advice about anything. Their care is second to none. Always happy and willing to help with care.
The activities are interesting and popular with quizzes, crafts and guest speakers and singers to name a few.
My family visited Mum this week. They were made to feel most welcome and were very impressed with Selkirk House and the staff. Mum is definitely in the right place and is thriving in the home.
Best decision we made for mum to live at Selkirk House. Excellent all round. Staff are amazing, management approachable and very helpful, even arranging new flooring to be fitted to mums rooms, which looks fantastic. Mum has settled well, she's been there for over 2 years. Thank you everyone at Selkirk House - food is excellent.
My mother passed away in Selkirk House recently. She had been unwell for some time. The care provided by the staff was exemplary. Additionally, the team working between care workers, nurses and her GP was beyond reproach. My mother remained comfortable, pain free, loved and supported until the end. The compassion shown throughout provided the family, her friends and me with complete confidence that she was in good hands. In the days following, the Home have been similarly supportive. Losing my mother has been devastating, but Selkirk House could not have done more to ensure she passed peacefully. Thank you.
My father suffered a fall and was taken to hospital on his return to Selkirk House, he was given a wonderful 'welcome home'. The staff have all been amazing. They are so kind + loving to everyone here and very attentive to all of my father's needs. The care is excellent. The facilities immaculate. I cannot fault the facilities and feel confident that when I am not here my father is being well taken care of.
