Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Night Care Assistant to join our team in a busy residential care home. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents throughout the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents during night hours

  • Assist residents with mobility, toileting, continence care, and repositioning as required

  • Administer and support with medication in line with care plans and company policies

  • Carry out regular checks on residents and respond promptly to call bells and emergencies

  • Maintain accurate and detailed care records, including medication administration records

  • Support residents with night-time routines and promote a calm, safe environment

  • Delegate tasks appropriately and support junior staff on shift

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and hand over clearly to the day team

  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures at all times

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience working as a Night Carer or Care Assistant in a care home setting

  • Strong medication experience and understanding of safe medication practices

  • Excellent organisational and delegation skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities during busy night shifts

  • Calm, reliable, and professional approach, particularly in emergency situations

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • A caring, respectful, and person-centred attitude

Desirable:

  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards). Must have level 2 NVQ.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced or high-dependency care environment
