Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Night Care Assistant to join our team in a busy residential care home. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents throughout the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents during night hours

Assist residents with mobility, toileting, continence care, and repositioning as required

Administer and support with medication in line with care plans and company policies

Carry out regular checks on residents and respond promptly to call bells and emergencies

Maintain accurate and detailed care records, including medication administration records
-
Support residents with night-time routines and promote a calm, safe environment
-
Delegate tasks appropriately and support junior staff on shift
-
Communicate effectively with colleagues and hand over clearly to the day team

Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures at all times
Skills and Experience Required:
-
Proven experience working as a Night Carer or Care Assistant in a care home setting

Strong medication experience and understanding of safe medication practices
-
Excellent organisational and delegation skills

Ability to work independently and manage priorities during busy night shifts

Calm, reliable, and professional approach, particularly in emergency situations

Good written and verbal communication skills
-
A caring, respectful, and person-centred attitude
Desirable:
-
NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards). Must have level 2 NVQ.

Experience working in a fast-paced or high-dependency care environment
