As Mercer Moors continues to develop and strengthen its leadership team, we are now seeking an experienced and motivated CQC Registered Manager to lead the service and drive excellence.
Role Overview
We are looking for a confident, compassionate, and highly organised CQC Registered Care Home Manager to take overall responsibility for the operational, clinical, and regulatory management of Mercer Moors.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound clinical understanding, and a clear commitment to delivering safe, effective, and responsive care. Experience managing a nursing home or working closely with nursing teams is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Act as the CQC Registered Manager, ensuring full regulatory compliance
- Provide visible, supportive leadership to the care and nursing teams
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture
- Lead recruitment, supervision, appraisals, and staff development
Quality, Governance & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with CQC regulations and the Health and Social Care Act
- Prepare for, manage, and respond to CQC inspections and audits
- Ensure robust governance systems, audits, and quality improvement plans
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and incident investigations
Care & Clinical Oversight
- Ensure care is person-centred, dignified, and outcome-focused
- Oversee medicines management, care planning, and clinical governance
- Work collaboratively with GPs, district nurses, mental health services, and allied professionals
- Support residents with complex needs and behaviours
Operational & Financial Management
- Manage budgets, occupancy, and resources effectively
- Oversee admissions, assessments, and transitions of care
- Monitor KPIs and drive continuous service improvement
Family & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, commissioners, and professionals
- Manage concerns and complaints sensitively and professionally
- Act as the main point of contact for external agencies and
regulator
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- In-depth understanding of CQC frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, MCA, DoLS, and best-interest decision-making
- Excellent communication, documentation, and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage complex situations calmly and professionally
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality care

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a care home
- Proven experience managing CQC inspections and compliance
- Strong working knowledge of UK health and social care legislation

- Nursing Home Management experience
- Registered Nurse qualification (RGN/RMN/RNLD) – advantageous but not essential
- Experience managing residents with complex clinical needs
- Experience working with commissioners and multi-disciplinary teams
Skills / Qualifications:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Eligible and willing to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
- Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a care home setting
- Experience managing CQC inspections and regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of UK health and social care legislation and standards
