About the opportunity:

As a Night Nurse Manager you will be responsible for:

  • To take a lead role in overseeing the clinical management of residents’ conditions, enabling quality of life through effective care, service, and activity
  • To be the go to person, providing leadership, clinical advice, and support to the staff within the home, the residents, their friends, relatives, and any visitors to the home
  • To be a role model for all staff, demonstrating and leading clinical best practice, behaving in a highly professional manner at all times whilst ensuring alignment to The Code and KYN values
  • To maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills and where needed convey any concerns to the Home Manager
  • To ensure the Home Manager is kept fully informed regarding the clinical management of the home including the residents’ conditions and to provide clinical advice to the Home Manager as necessary
  • To ensure the needs of each resident are assessed effectively at pre-admission and continually throughout their time in the home, ensuring that they receive the highest standard of care and service appropriate to their individual needs
  • To ensure each resident has an up-to-date and agreed care plan, involving the residents and relatives where possible, which details the interventions required to meet their individual needs, evaluating and reviewing the assessments and care plans in line with the policies and procedures
  • To regularly audit care plans to ensure compliance with KYN’s policies and procedures
  • To lead the team to use additional charts to monitor residents’ care needs effectively when necessary, ensuring that all documentation is completed contemporaneously and accurately. This will include but is not limited to, flood/fluid charts, turns charts, monitoring MUST and palliative care charts
  • To take a lead role in managing the home’s clinical responsibilities including but not limited to infection control, medication management, tissue viability and wound care management, nutritional and dietary requirements, moving and handling management
  • To complete the homes clinical audits and action plans in the required timescale, taking a proactive approach to managing clinical risk and demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to residents’ clinical needs
  • To build and deliver action plans around the outcomes of the audits to ensure an environment of continuous service improvement is promoted and maintained
  • To be able to conduct a ‘show round’ to prospective new residents or families
  • To provide appropriate clinical supervision, mentoring, effective communication, and leadership to the care team including any visiting agency staff
  • In conjunction with the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, and Clinical Lead support registered nurses with their Revalidation
  • To give guidance and training to the care/nursing team and provide clinical support and direction as required
  • To support and guide the Household Care Leads in their duties
  • To maximise staff involvement with the residents’ activities both in and out of the home and encourage leisure pursuits accordingly
  • To assist in the recruitment of team members with support from the Home Manager and the HR team where necessary, in accordance with KYN’s policies and procedures
  • To arrange orientation and supervise the completion of the induction programme for all new team members, including the completion of the Care Certificate
  • To ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix on each shift meet the requirements of the residents, current legislations, and company policy
  • To assist in the appraisal of team members identifying and meeting the training needs of the team, as well as promoting their personal and professional development
  • ·To take an active part in the management of team performance ensuring that any formal action is taken with the support of the HR team and the Home Manager
  • To support the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in the implementation of a whole home approach to the provision of meaningful occupation for all residents, taking a proactive attitude towards the engagement of all residents at all times
  • To take full responsibility for specific aspects of the home’s management, as agreed with Home Manager. This may include ordering and checking medication
  • To be responsible for the health and safety of self, colleagues, residents and visitors under the health and safety regulations
  • To report any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge or take other appropriate action
  • To adhere to all KYN’s policies and procedures
  • To undertake on-call requirements as agreed with the Home Manager. This will include an arrangement to ensure that there is an agreed schedule to provide on-call support for the home 24-hours a day, Monday – Sunday
  • To work in accordance with an agreed rota, to include emergency cover, weekend work and night duty as required
  • Leading, motivating and mentoring to ensure that strong relationships are developed with our residents
  • You will ensure residents are involved in any decisions about their care to promote an exceptional quality of life in a nurturing and beautiful environment
  • Delivering the highest standards of person-centred care to individuals who call a KYN residence their home whilst preserving their dignity, respect, and wellbeing
  • Providing clinical guidance to the care team and being instrumental in delivering all CQC duties
  • Creating a nurturing environment where our residents and their family members feel loved, happy, safe and secure
  • Acting as a brand ambassador who demonstrates and leads the KYN values

About you:

  • A Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid and active PIN
  • Experience working as RGN with minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within care
  • Current registration with NMC with no restriction on practice  
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the professional standards that registered nurses must uphold by The NMC Code and other regulations and legislation within the care profession
  • Experience in managing clinical KPI’s and a proven track record acting in line with The Code
  • ·Experience in dementia and palliative care training and working with multidisciplinary teams to improve health outcomes for people
  • Extensive knowledge and use of clinical assessment tools, a good understanding of care planning processes and writing care plans
  • Experience in administering and managing medication and using medical equipment
  • Can lead and motivate team members and inspire professionalism
  • Can resolve complaints and investigate incidents effectively and efficiently
  • Patient with the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to anticipate problems before they arise
  • A compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual
  • Previous experience in GSF is desirable
