Maintenance & Facilities Manager 

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and pro-active Maintenance & Facilities Manager to manage the maintenance, health & safety, and operational efficiency of our Care Home premises.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance at Pax Hill, which will include hands-on DIY, the day to day management of a small team, managing suppliers and trades, weekly maintenance/H&S checks and ensuring the smooth functioning of all facility-related activities.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive team player with strong DIY skills, IT and admin experience and knowledge of H&S within a care home setting. An IOSH qualification would be a bonus but not essential.

The successful candidate will be required to:-

  • Maintain all areas of a busy care home
  • Lead and supervise the facilities team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely
  • Oversee maintenance schedules, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement preventative measures
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas of the facility
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialised repairs or installations
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and project progress

Skills

  • Excellent DIY skills and practical building maintenance experience
  • Basic plumbing and electric skills highly desirable
  • Proven supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance environments
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Health & Safety experience
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in planning and documentation
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues quickly and efficiently

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can be hands-on 70/80% of the time, carrying out maintenance of the building, with the rest of the time spent on admin and management.
