Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and pro-active Maintenance &
Facilities Manager to manage the maintenance, health & safety, and
operational efficiency of our Care Home premises.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance at Pax Hill, which will include hands-on DIY, the day to day management of a small team, managing suppliers and trades, weekly maintenance/H&S checks and ensuring the smooth functioning of all facility-related activities.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive team player with strong DIY skills, IT and admin experience and knowledge of H&S within a care home setting. An IOSH qualification would be a bonus but not essential.
The successful candidate will be required to:-
- Maintain all areas of a busy care home
- Lead and supervise the facilities team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely
- Oversee maintenance schedules, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement preventative measures
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas of the facility
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialised repairs or installations
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and project progress
Skills
- Excellent DIY skills and practical building maintenance experience
- Basic plumbing and electric skills highly desirable
- Proven supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance environments
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Health & Safety experience
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in planning and documentation
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues quickly and efficiently
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can be hands-on 70/80% of the time, carrying out maintenance of the building, with the rest of the time spent on admin and management.
