Pax Hill is care home set in nine acres of gardens in the picturesque village of Bentley on the border between Surrey and Hampshire. Every room in this unusual circular building has views of the surrounding countryside or central courtyard through low level picture windows.

Each bedroom has large en-suite shower rooms with wheelchair access, electric profiling beds, flat screen television, telephone and access to a broadband internet connection.

Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day to provide help whatever your care requirements.

Separate, self-contained care areas enable them to provide different types of care and to enable residents to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

Professionals provide general nursing care, palliative care, nursing care for dementia and residential care.

Activity therapists provide a social calendar of events and support to encourage communication and maintenance of an active lifestyle. Alternatively, the gardens provide the perfect place for tranquillity and a spot of gardening.

They are happy to offer respite and short-term care for a few days to a few weeks to cover post-operative recuperation, carers holidays and breaks, or trial visits to see if care home life is suitable for you.

Mother has been resident for nearly 3 years. Her health and well-being have been monitored and adjusted to her needs. The staff are very kind, patient and well-trained in their fields. The home is clean and in good order and nothing is too much trouble. All queries and issues dealt with promptly and
efficiently. We are very happy with our mother's care. Thank you Pax Hill.

My father was not at Pax Hill for long but we cannot thank the team enough for the care they provided. His transition from hospital to Pax Hill was quick and extremely efficient. The nurses and care team who looked after him were exceptional; kind, caring and respectful at all times. My father was treated
with dignity and the kindness extended to our family at a difficult time made all the difference.
Reply from Angela Strange, Resident Liaison at Pax Hill Care HomeThank you for trusting Pax Hill with your fathers care, it was an absolute privilege to care for him. We pride ourselves on being warm and welcoming to all our visitors and family and I am so pleased that you as a family also felt supported and cared for. my husband has been in Pax Hill since the end of December 2025. He has a rare neurological condition and Parkinson's. Pax Hill carers have to do everything for him and he cannot feed himself. He is very well looked after. All the Carers and Nurses at Pax Hill are extremely caring with residents.
Medication is given on time and regular updates given. There are also activities for residents every day. As well as hairdressing, chiropodist and a visiting physio if needed.

Very helpful at reception, all staff very helpful and caring. Wonderful nursing care and aware of my husband if he was in pain and administered pain tablets. He was always kept washed and in fresh clothes. He has a nice room with views up the fields and could see birds. I will recommend Pax Hill to
anyone who requires.

My mum has been in Pax Hill for just over a year. My sister and I and the extended family are so grateful for the kind love and compassion Mum has been shown, she has settled in and improved in many ways with the encouragement of nursing staff and the general care and attention given by the care team.
We are very grateful Mum is living in Pax Hill.

My husband was admitted to Pax Hill in April 2025 after a serious decline in his MS.
From the first day the staff were caring attentive and totally aware of his care needs.
All the staff went above and beyond to support us both at a very difficult time.
I need say no more when I tell you that my husband
is now well enough for me with help to care for him at home. He returned home on the 30th Jan 2026.
Sincere thanks to all staff at Pax Hill for their care and dedication and allowing us the opportunity to continue our life together.

Pax Hill is welcoming to all. The staff demonstrate kindness. All staff treat my parents, who are both residents, with dignity and respect at all times. Food is excellent. The care given is excellent, and any concerns regarding my parents' health or emotional needs are raised early and communicated
appropriately. The activities coordinators encourage both to be involved and particularly enable my mum to engage as much as she can to get maximum fun and enjoyment. It is great that Pax Hill involve outside guests from the local community to entertain the residents.
Reply from Angela Strange, Resident Liaison at Pax Hill Care HomeThank you very much for taking the time to write a review, it is so important to us that everyone that comes to Pax Hill is made to feel welcome and we are very proud of the excellent, person centered care given to all of our residents. My father was at Pax Hill for 2-and-a-half years. It was a happy time for him. Everyone there exceeded expectations. He had the same 2 carers for the entire time he was there and their care was amazing. There is a real family atmosphere and visits are allowed at any time. There is a very low turnover
of staff so families get to know everyone. We cannot praise Pax Hill enough.

The management of Pax Hill runs a tight ship. This is a reflection of running a first class nursing home. The activities staff are a breath of fresh air. The gardens are delightful and a welcome to visitors and residents alike. I find the staff caring and encouraging, especially to residents confused
at being up rotted out from their normal home. The armchair exercises, memory games, plus arts and crafts are a bonus to all concerned. Time is given to socialise for residents of that frame of mind.

My mother moved into Pax Hill, initially for respite care, in 2022 as my father was already up on the nursing floor. She quickly realised that she did not want to return home to live on her own. As my father had been at Pax Hill for over two years, she was already known by many of the staff and they
quickly made her feel at home on Balmoral. She enjoyed her lovely room looking out on the terrace, garden and grounds. She was able to have her furniture and pictures all around her and she knew that she was in the best place. A huge thank you to everyone for looking after her so well.

Pax Hill is a beautiful care home in a lovely setting. The staff are exceptionally caring and friendly towards my husband, who is receiving both dementia and palliative care. He is very happy there, I couldn't single anyone out in particular, as every member of the team is so kind, helpful and compassionate.
They are always welcoming - not just to residents but also to visitors, offering tea, cake and biscuits with genuine warmth .

The first time I saw Pax Hill Care Home I knew this was the perfect place for my Mum, the Staff were friendly and were happy to help you. We were able to choose Mum's room and to decorate it to look like Mum's flat with all her favourite things. Mum was on Montgomery Unit and all the Staff made you
feel relaxed when visiting and pleased to see you. Mum was only in Pax Hill for a few months and was well cared for and was treated with respect, kindness and well dressed. When Mum passed away the Staff were amazing and they took good care of my daughter and I. Pax Hill agreed to do a farewell for the Staff on Montgomery to say thank you for everything they had done for Mum and us, the chef did amazing afternoon tea with giant scones which Mum would have enjoyed. My daughter and I will never be able to thank the Staff enough for everything they did to make Mum's last few months a happy and loved one, you are all truly amazing.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.902)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.902) out of 10 for Pax Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.902 for Pax Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (484 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 533 Ratings = 4.902
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pax Hill Care Home is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 registered maximum number of service users is 19.6, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
