Overall Experience

Pax Hill is an excellent care home with modern buildings and set in beautiful grounds. The facilities are good, everywhere is very clean and there is an excellent range of activities. My husband was looked after with care and compassion and always treated with dignity during the last four months of his life. His end-of-life care was excellent. The staff are all delightful not only caring for him but also very caring of the relatives. I would have no hesitation in recommending Pax Hill to others.

Reply from Angela Strange, Resident Liaison at Pax Hill Care Home

Relatives become part of our Pax Hill family and it is so important to us that they are cared for alongside our residents. We are grateful for your review and for giving us the opportunity to care for your husband in his final months.

Overall Experience
My father was receiving palliative care for 2 weeks over the month of October.
The staff gave exceptional nursing care, being particularly attentive to patient care and communicating with myself and my sister about what to expect and how to manage the treatments he was receiving.
The team was very good at respecting my father's wishes and providing all the help he required.
The carers were particularly kind and managed to be positive and cheerful in difficult circumstances.

At Pax Hill, we will rate highly all of the factors that contribute to a good care environment, such as food, cleanliness, etc. But really what makes Pax Hill stand out as an outstanding care home is the personal and caring nature of the team, from the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, the whole team are there to support you in a very genuine and touching way.

Reply from Angela Strange, Resident Liaison at Pax Hill Care Home

We always strive to provide the best care possible for our residents and to be there as a support for family, your review is really appreciated and I will share your kind words with the whole team at Pax Hill.

From the moment I stepped inside the care home I was met by smiles, greetings, helpfulness and kindness. Visitors are never treated as outsiders, but are warmly welcomed at any time. I know that many of the staff went the extra mile to care for and support my friend, who couldn't have been happier. The surroundings, which are beautiful, seem so quiet, until you spot all the woodland wildlife and hear the birdsongs. I feel so glad we chose Pax Hill for my friend.

Pax Hill is a lovely home. The grounds and buildings are beautifully presented. Mum has been here for three months and quickly settled in with lots of help from the brilliant carers and nurses. Their unfailing friendliness and support has seen her go from strength to strength.

My mother has been at Pax Hill for 2 weeks and we cannot fault the welcome we received. The staff are friendly, helpful, kind and understanding. Mum is settling in well and we would thoroughly recommend the home. The rooms are nicely decorated and look out onto lovely countryside with squirrels and birds as constant visitors.

The staff at Pax Hill are kind, caring and considerate towards my mother-in-law. They show good humour in their working day and are very patient. Nothing is too much trouble. The bedroom is very tidy and clean, with an ensuite with various apparatus added for my mother-in-law's needs. The surroundings and gardens are well-kept. It's clear she is very well cared for by compassionate and caring staff, who are warm, chatty and empathetic.

My uncle passed away after living at Pax Hill Care Home for two years. It was with some trepidation that my cousin decided on full-time care for my uncle but we can honestly say that for the entire time that he lived here, he appeared happy, stimulated, well cared for and always well turned out.
My mum and I were so impressed with the care and compassion that he was shown by all of the staff and how well the family were supported in my uncle's last few days.

Thank you so much for looking after a very special person.

I first joined Pax Hill Care Home as a respite care user on February 2nd 2024, on discharge from hospital and right from my first introduction to one of the fun activities, have felt happy and secure here. To such an extent, have decided to become a resident. Set in beautiful surroundings, with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere, it seemed the place for me.

I highly recommend Pax Hill, based on my experience of 2 months of care for my Mum. Each time I visited, I found it to be excellent. The Windsor nursing staff were always warm and friendly, regularly giving time to talk me and other visitors through the situation as Mum's end of life care progressed.

My mum was treated with respect and dignity during her time there. The nurses' priority was to keep her happy, comfortable and pain-free. Everyone was kind and caring: It was possible for us to personalise the freshly painted room - incl. with favourite paintings on the walls - so that it felt like home. It was also quiet in the room with a lovely view out over the courtyard (lit with garden lights in the evenings). Lots of activities were advertised, and the common room had lots of films, books, and CDs. When Mum passed away, the nursing and care team gave us excellent guidance and emotional support, and have been warm and friendly with time to talk when we've been back since.

My wife was admitted in late 2023 from hospital for palliative end-of-life nursing case.

She passed away in Jan 2024. I am grateful to all of the staff at Pax Hill Care Home for the exceptionally professional and loving care given to my wife during her short 2-month stay. Nothing was too much trouble and she was treated with respect and loving care making her happy, comfortable and pain-free right to the end of her life. I can't emphasise enough how pleased I am with the warm reception we were given right from our very first visit by the reception and all the staff prior to and then during my wife's short stay until she passed away.

The staff and facilities are simply outstanding. My beautiful mum was a resident on the Windsor floor for over two months, and we are so thankful she was in the loveliest place possible and received the very best end-of-life care from a wonderful team. We always received a warm and friendly welcome. All staff are truly exceptional, from receptionists, resident liaisons, nursing teams and carers to domestic help, handyman and activity coordinator. Everyone was kind and caring and had so much time for my lovely mum and our whole family - nothing was too much trouble. It felt like a family, and my mum was treated with the utmost respect and dignity during her time there. The nurses kept my mum happy, comfortable and pain-free, and this was their priority. Each room is decorated and personalised, so it feels like home. When my mum sadly passed away, the nursing and care team gave us the guidance, love, emotional support and privacy we needed. We highly recommend Pax Hill to care for your loved ones.

My mother has been in Pax Hill (nursing home) following a stroke and requires 24/7 care. I have been extremely impressed with every aspect of her care and treatment. Over the past five months, I have come to know all the care staff, and more importantly, so has my mother, and it feels more like extended family and friends looking after her - so much better than with changing agency workers. I'm able to visit whenever I want and for as long as I want with family and friends and even pets.

My mum was cared for by the Pax Hill team for just under two years. She has advanced Parkinson's. Words cannot convert how wonderful the team were. They offered the best possible care, love, medical assistance and personal support. There is no doubt in my mind that Pax Hill was the perfect home for her, and I am immensely grateful to all the staff and residents for all they did for her.
