Beacher Hall Care Home, 42 Bath Road, Reading RG1 6PG

Salary £12.75 - £14.34 per hour depending on experience

Permanent - 22 Nights available

Located near the centre of Reading, Beacher Hall offers 24-hour nursing care and support for those 18 and over with a range of needs.

That includes those living with complex needs and neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, respiratory conditions, Parkinson's and acquired brain injuries. The home offers both long-term, short-stay and rehabilitation care.

A converted listed building, Beacher Hall offers a relaxing environment that is well equipped for a range of individual care needs.

There's always a bustling atmosphere, with plenty for residents to get involved in. There is a physiotherapy gym - great for slow stream rehabilitation and preventing secondary complications - large landscaped gardens and an inviting lounge. These are open to all, whether they're staying long-term or for a few months.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities as well as a TV and telephone point. Comfortable communal areas and lounges, as well as the attractive landscaped gardens, provide the ideal setting where residents can socialise and relax with friends and family.

The home goes to great effort to ensure mealtimes are satisfying and enjoyable, aiming for a balanced and nutritious diet that also accounts for personal taste.

Sensory art classes and music therapy are part of a thriving activities programme, and regular trips and outings are organised allowing residents to get out and enjoy community life or visit the cinema.

You'll help us make health happen by:

  • Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit

  • Supporting with clinical duties, including supporting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and accurate record keeping

  • Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsible for all shift handovers of the teams

  • Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported

  • Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses

  • Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • You'll have completed / working towards an NVQ3 in care. We're more than happy to support you in the completion of your qualification if needed.

  • You're motivated, positive and with great interpersonal skills, and you enjoy working in a close-knit team. You're pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home.

  • You have previous experience of the role and knowledge of its rewards and challenges. Just as importantly, you also have a passion for making a real difference to people's lives, giving them the kindness, personalised support and dignity they need.
