Senior Care Assistant
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
About Us
We are a compassionate, CQC-rated “Good” care home in Dudley, providing quality care and support for up to 35 elderly residents, many living with dementia. Our mission is to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where residents feel truly at home — and where our staff feel valued and empowered.
The Role
We’re looking for a strong, proactive Senior Care Assistant who can take the lead in delivering exceptional care. This role is ideal for someone with excellent clinical awareness, sound judgment, and a calm, confident approach to leadership. You’ll be the go-to person on shift — coordinating care delivery, supporting staff, managing medication, and ensuring residents’ needs are met with professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Medication Management: Confidently book in, administer, and order medication using ATLAS eMAR, ensuring full accuracy and compliance.
- Clinical Documentation: Create, review, and update care plans and risk assessments (including continence and falls assessments).
- Referrals & Liaison: Coordinate with GPs, district nurses, pharmacists, and other professionals to arrange assessments, referrals, and follow-ups.
- Leadership: Supervise and mentor care staff, providing guidance, feedback, and hands-on support to maintain high standards across the team.
- Resident Care: Deliver and oversee personal and emotional care, promoting dignity, choice, and independence at all times.
- Challenging Behaviour: Respond calmly and effectively to behavioural challenges, using de-escalation and person-centred strategies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records using PCS and other digital systems, ensuring compliance with company and CQC standards.
- Team Coordination: Lead handovers, delegate tasks efficiently, and ensure continuity and consistency of care throughout the shift.
About You
- Proven experience as a Senior Care Assistant (minimum 1 year).
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (Level 3 preferred or willingness to complete).
- Strong knowledge of medication procedures and clinical documentation.
- Confident communicator who can liaise effectively with healthcare professionals and families.
- Calm under pressure, highly organised, and “on the ball” when managing priorities.
- Skilled in using ATLAS eMAR and PCS (preferred).
- Genuine passion for dementia care and supporting older adults.
Working Hours
- 8am–8pm shifts (full-time and part-time positions available)
- Rotational shifts, including some weekends
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly rate (£12.70 – £14.00, depending on experience)
- Enhanced pay on bank holidays
- Free training and opportunities for progression
- Company pension and wellbeing programme
- Free uniform and on-site parking
- £100 staff referral bonus
