Working Pattern: Alternate weekends required

Team: You will work alongside another maintenance colleague, with occasional overlap of shifts
Role Overview
The Maintenance Person will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the care home, ensuring the environment remains safe, compliant, and well presented in line with CQC standards.
You will play a key role in supporting resident safety, dignity, and wellbeing by maintaining the building, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor improvements

Complete routine health & safety checks and planned preventative maintenance
-
Report, record, and respond to maintenance issues promptly
-
Support compliance with health & safety, infection control, fire safety, and water hygiene requirements

Work respectfully around residents, families, and staff
-
Liaise with external contractors when required
-
Ensure all work is completed in line with company policies and CQC regulations
Essential Criteria
-
Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities role
-
Ability to maintain a safe environment within a regulated care setting
-
Working knowledge of health & safety legislation and risk assessments
-
Understanding of infection prevention and control
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-
Good communication and record-keeping skills
-
Willingness to work alternate weekends
-
Physically able to carry out the role, including manual handling

Right to work in the UK

Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check
Desirable Criteria
-
Experience working in a care home or healthcare environment
-
Knowledge of COSHH, fire safety, legionella, emergency lighting, and water hygiene
-
Relevant maintenance or trade qualifications
-
Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems

Understanding of CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs)

Full UK driving licence
