Layden Court Care Home in Maltby is seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our dedicated care team.

We are a 92-bed care home providing high-quality, person-centred care in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, supported by committed staff and management.

Job Details

  • Role: Senior Care Assistant

  • Hours: Full-time / Part-time available

  • Contract: Permanent

  • Shift Pattern: Day or night shifts available, including alternate weekends

  • Pay: Competitive rate (discussed at interview)

Role Overview

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will lead by example, supporting residents with their care needs while also providing guidance, supervision, and support to care staff on shift. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care in line with CQC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality personal care in line with individual care plans

  • Lead and support care staff during shifts

  • Administer or support with medication (where trained and competent)

  • Complete and review care documentation and handovers

  • Support safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety practices

  • Act as a point of contact for residents, families, and professionals

  • Escalate concerns appropriately to senior management

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant or experienced Care Assistant

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or working towards Level 3)

  • Good understanding of CQC standards and safeguarding

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and support staff

  • Good communication and record-keeping skills

  • Ability to work day or night shifts, including alternate weekends

  • Respect for dignity, privacy, and person-centred care

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check

Desirable Criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care

  • Medication administration training and competency

  • Experience working in a care home or healthcare setting

  • Understanding of audits, risk assessments, and care reviews

  • Experience acting as shift leader
