The Role
Our Kitchen Assistants are responsible for assisting in the catering provision of the Care Home by supporting the kitchen team with preparing food, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safe storage and hygiene standards are met each day.
Our Care Home Kitchens are fully equipped to offer a breakfast, lunch and dinner service for our residents their guests and our staff.
Working under the guidance of our Chef, the Kitchen Assistant’s main duties are:
- To prepare vegetables, salads and sandwiches on a daily basis
- To wash up and store all crockery, cutlery and other utensils.
- Assist serving the food at meal times to the residents, guests and staff.
- Ensure the stores are kept clean and tidy and kept in date order
- Dispose of refuge on a daily basis in a proper manner
- To use correct chemicals when cleaning, whilst complying with the current COSHH regulations including the contact time for all chemicals and sanitizers.
- To ensure the kitchen is kept clean and tidy and free of mess at all times
- Keeping an up to date check list of temperature checks of the fridges and pantry areas on a daily basis.
- To be aware of the guidelines relating to the use of cleaning schedules used on a daily basis.
- To receive, check and store deliveries in the correct places.
- Assist serving at special functions when required, including assisting with preparing the food and setting up for service.
Working hours:
4 x 10 hour shifts per week (08:00 - 19:00)
Shifts are rostered
on a four-week rolling roster and include alternate weekend
working.
The successful candidate must have the flexibility to
work any day of the week.
Requirements
- At least 1 years’ experience of working within a catering function.
- It is not essential to have experience with a Care Home setting but would be desirable in understanding the needs of our residents.
- The successful candidate will either hold a Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2, or to be prepared to study for this as part of the role requirements.
- All posts are subject to a clear enhanced criminal record check and satisfactory references.
- Proof of x2 Covid-19 vaccinations
- This role does not meet the requirements of Sponsorship - you must have current valid right to work in the UK.
