Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in the role of Second Cook. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience within a dynamic food service environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in food preparation, ensuring food safety standards are met, and supporting the overall operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
• Support cooking activities, ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and to high quality standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils and equipment
• Follow food safety protocols to ensure hygiene standards are upheld at all times
• Help with inventory management by organising ingredients and supplies
• Support serving staff during busy periods, including plating and delivering meals as required
• Adhere to health and safety regulations to create a safe working environment for all team members

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and meal preparation processes
• Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
• Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed
• Level 3 Food Safety is desirable but not essential
