Job summary
Activities Coordinator
At Thomas Knight Care Home, we recognise that every resident joins us with a lifetime of experiences, interests and relationships that continue to shape who they are. Our role is not only to meet care needs, but to support each person to retain their identity, sense of purpose and connection to the things , and people, that matter most.
We are looking for a warm, creative and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to help make each day meaningful.
This is more than organising a quiz or arranging entertainment (though those can be great fun!). It’s about truly getting to know each resident , who they were before they came to us, what makes them light up, what brings comfort, purpose and joy, and building activities around that.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Creating engaging daily programmes based on residents’ life stories, interests and strengths
- Planning events, themed days, outings and community visits
- Encouraging residents to maintain hobbies and personal interests
- Supporting people to stay connected with family and friends, including video calls and online access
- Producing activity schedules, posters and newsletters to keep everyone informed
- Working within a set budget while keeping ideas fresh and meaningful
- Working closely with care and nursing teams so activities complement individual care plans
- Involving families and the wider community wherever possible
- Keeping clear records and contributing to care planning
- Looking for new ways to grow and improve the activities programme
About You
- Experience working in a care setting
- Ideally experience in an activities or wellbeing role
- Kind, patient and naturally engaging
- Confident motivating individuals and small groups
- Creative, organised and able to adapt when plans change
- Comfortable supporting people with additional or complex needs
- Good basic IT skills to create materials and support residents online
If you believe that meaningful activities are at the heart of great care, and that laughter, purpose and connection matter just as much as clinical support — we’d really love to hear from you.
