Job Purpose: To support the Director in the
operational leadership and strategic management of the care home,
ensuring high-quality, person-centred care, regulatory compliance, and
effective team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the care team, promoting strong collaboration, accountability, and high standards of service delivery for adult residents.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of personalised care plans, ensuring they reflect residents’ individual needs, preferences, and risk assessments.
- Oversee Rota management and staffing levels, ensuring safe staffing ratios, cost efficiency, and appropriate skill mix in line with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Monitor and support managerial duties, including performance oversight of senior staff, supervision processes, appraisal systems, and ensuring delegated responsibilities are effectively carried out.
- Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives, including building relationships with local authorities and healthcare professionals, promoting the service, and supporting occupancy growth by generating new service user referrals.
- Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and CQC regulatory standards.
- Maintain effective communication with families, representatives, healthcare professionals, and external agencies regarding residents’ well-being and progress.
- Coordinate and support staff training and professional development, ensuring mandatory and specialist training requirements are met.
- Monitor compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, MCA/DoLS, and infection control standards within the home.
- Support staff in managing behavioural or complex care needs, conduct regular team meetings, and review service performance to address operational challenges.
Skills & Experience Required (5)
- Proven experience in adult social care within a residential or nursing care home setting, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), capable of liaising professionally with residents, families, professionals, and colleagues.
- Sound knowledge of care planning, safeguarding procedures, CQC regulations, and person-centred care principles.
- IT proficiency in care management systems, record-keeping software, and the Microsoft Office application
Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards)
- Level 3 Safeguarding Adults
- Training in MCA (Mental Capacity Act) & DoLS
- First Aid & Medication Management certification
- Full UK driving license (if overseeing multiple sites or external meetings)
