Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Person to support our 3 care homes across Seaton, Colyton, and Sidmouth. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, functional, and comfortable. This is a hands?on, varied role where no two days are the same — from simple repairs to larger refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out routine general building maintenance repairs including painting and decorating, electrical and plumbing.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and safely.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work and completed tasks.
• Assist with installation of new equipment, fixtures, and upgrades.
• Prioritise and respond to maintenance requests promptly.
• Support emergency repairs and out?of?hours call?outs on a shared rota (including some evenings and weekends).
• Ensure all work meets regulatory and safety requirements.
Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, repairs, or similar roles.
• Strong problem?solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with a friendly, customer?focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.
• Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (desirable but not essential).
• Good all?round DIY skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations (essential).
• Experience in a care home or similar environment (advantageous).
Additional Information
This role involves working across 3 care homes, so a full manual driving licence and access to transport are important. You’ll be interacting regularly with residents, staff, and visitors, so a warm and approachable manner is key. Out?of?hours /on?call duties are shared across the maintenance team.

- UK Manual Driving Licence
