This role will support the Home Manager and senior team in delivering high quality care and ensuring the smooth day to day running of the home.
You will play a key role in leading the care team, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of person-centred care in line with our Sunflower Approach to Care
About the Role:
This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone passionate about elderly and dementia care who enjoys supporting and developing others.
You will lead shifts, provide guidance to care staff, and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate and personalised care. You will also support the management team in maintaining excellent care standards and compliance.
The successful candidate will desirably hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or above) and have experience supporting or supervising staff within a care environment.
Kep responsibilities include:
- Lead shifts and support the day to day running of the home
- Provide high standards of person centred care based on residents individual needs.
- Act as a role model for care staff, leading by example and supporting best practice.
- Supervise, mentor and support care assistants through regular supervision and observational practice.
- Support the assessment, planning and review of resident care plans.
- Work closely with residents, families and the wider care team to ensure excellent communication and outcomes.
- Administer medication safely in accordance with company policy.
- Support the training and development of junior staff and those completing Health & Social Care Diplomas.
- Champion areas of specialist practice such as moving and handling.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is completed to a high standard.
- Ensure residents remain safe, comfortable and engaged in meaningful activities.
- Support audits, best practice and continued delivery of our Sunflower Approach to Care.
- Take charge of the home in the absence of the Manager or Deputy when required.
About You
You will have experience within elderly care and be confident supporting and motivating a team.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) desirable
- Happy to develop and is enthusiastic about leadership and level 3 qualifications
- Have a least 2 years experience in elderly care, including dementia care.
- Demonstrate experience supporting or supervising care staff.
- Show excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Lead by example with compassion, professionalism and integrity.
- Motivate and inspire others to deliver excellent standards of care.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and problem solving skills
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the home and residents.
- Experience with Person Centre Software (PCS) desirable.
