We are so happy that we chose Hill House for my mother-in-law. The home has such a lovely caring family vibe which we noticed as soon as we walked through the front door. The care shown to my mother in law has been exceptional particularly when her husband sadly passed away in March. Her health deteriorated at this time with grief but the support & care from the staff has brought her back to strength & she is very much enjoying life again. She is always included in the numerous activities & loves to go on outings. There are also regular family events that take place at Hill House which we have enjoyed sharing with her. An especially thoughtful touch was a lovely family birthday celebration prepared by the staff to mark her special day. Thank you to all the staff at Hill House.

Review of Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home from Loraine R (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum has been resident in Hill House for nearly two years. She was initially in the downstairs large lounge, then moved to upstairs where there is a smaller dementia unit for those that find it difficult to deal with lots of people and noise, which were affecting Mum. It is a lovely community with several ladies in a similar physical and mental condition. Everyone who works there does so because they enjoy it, they care. It has a wonderful, happy, caring atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. They put on a lot of meetings for relatives to gain feedback, and their social events allow residents and their families time to eat, drink, and enjoy music together.

Thank you for your lovely review. It's fantastic to see your mum so happily settled into the Hill House community, and we hope you and the family have enjoyed our most recent summer bbqs and events. Thank you again.

Overall Experience
Hill House nursing home gave incredible care, compassion and love to our Mum throughout her time there, especially during her final weeks and days.
From the moment Mum arrived, she was made to feel safe, valued and cared for. Living with dementia is an incredibly difficult journey, she was always treated with patience, kindness and dignity, seeing the wonderful person she was beyond her illness. Knowing she was so happy and well cared for brought our family immense comfort.
The home has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, family and friends were always made to feel welcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every member of staff went above and beyond, not only for Mum but for all of us as a family.

The care Mum received at the end of her life was truly exceptional and we were able to spend those precious final days simply being with her due to the fantastic care she received. We highly recommend Hill House, outstanding care for our lovely Mum.

Review of Farnham Mill Nursing Home from A B (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our mother has been living at Farnham Mill for a number of years now and whilst becoming increasingly frail and dependent on staff for all her care needs she is still able to enjoy some quality of life. As well as being very much looked after by all the staff you sense that they really do care for Mum and the other residents, it is never just a job for them. When we celebrated Mum's birthday in May they made a great fuss of her with a lovely cake and singing happy birthday and you sensed that Mum knew something special was going on. It meant a great deal for the immediate family who were there to share that celebration with her. All the staff at Farnham Mill do an amazing job in their various roles and it gives us peace of mind to know that Mum could not be in better hands and a lovelier care home.

My Mother stayed at the Home for two weeks. I visited a few times and took my Father there for visits a few times as well. The staff were really helpful and cheerful and I was very impressed with the Home and the staff and was also very happy with the care my Mother received.

Also the young lady whose name I have forgotten who was on reception the first time I visited and showed me around and took me up to my Mother's room was excellent.

We experienced kindness and warmth from all staff at all levels. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were accessible at all times. Knowing that mum was safe and well looked after was a huge relief after a lengthy hospital stay. Dad was made to feel very welcome from his visit to mum, this enabled him to spend valuable time with her in the privacy of her room, with regular cups of tea! Mum didn't always take part in activities but they certainly seemed all inclusive and engaging!

Overall Experience
We chose Hill House as we had had an excellent experience with my parents-in-law a few years previously. It was a delight and very reassuring when my mother became a resident this Spring to see staff who had been caring for my in-laws 8 years ago. Mum had a lovely room and a happy team of staff who worked extremely hard to care for her. Despite her unwillingness to leave her room, everyone came and spoke to her and the unfailing kindness of all the team at Hill House pervades the home and all they do. The team were very responsive and always treated Mum with the utmost dignity. The Management and Nursing teams were always available and happy to talk through things with the family.

Hill House functions as a family with everyone making sure both the resident and their family is cared for. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Overall Experience

Farnham Mill is an excellent home. On visiting the first time we were impressed by the welcome; the professionalism of the staff and most imprtantly that the residents appeared happy and well cared for. My sister was incapacitated + confined to her room, where she felt safe and settled. She received excellent nursing care and was regularly visited by the activities team, the staff from administration, nursing, support and cleaners were without exception caring and friendly. They all made my sister's stay and last few months comfortable + contented. I couldn't ask for more.

The care my father received at Farnham Mill was absolutely outstanding. The staff were, without exception, so kind and compassionate that he became settled and happy in the place he referred to as ' home'. They brought warmth and humour into his life every day, and it was wonderful to see him smile even on the day he passed away. They made him feel part of the life of the home in every way, and made great efforts to assist him maintain his mobility with daily walks around the beautifully maintained garden and duck pond. When Dad arrived at Farnham Mill he couldn't sit to stand from a chair, but within two weeks he was walking unaided, thanks to the dedicated staff. He spent two years there, and always said it was wonderful. When he came to the end of his life, the kindness and compassion from the nursing staff was incredible, and was of huge comfort to him and me. I will always be grateful to Farnham Mill for being our extended family. Thank you so much.

Review of Woodlands Residential Care Home from Mark C (Son of Resident) published on 1 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated Woodlands as Outstanding. Woodlands is outstanding or even more specifically as I prefer, a Care home that Stands Out. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed, every member of staff keen to chat and enquire, you feel part of the Woodlands family. A cup of tea offered as you sign in..luxury! Their ethos is a home from home, and it certainly lives up to that, in many ways providing that extra care that we as a family could not keep up with. If you've ever encountered caring for an elderly loved one you will understand the "ups and downs" cycle, well all I can say is my Mum is thriving at Woodlands both physically and mentally ( which we all know are as important as each other). Physically through the care and attention the staff provide, and mentally through the company and stimulation from the staff and the activity programme. Many times when visiting Mums room a staff member is deep in conversation with her, laughing!

Mum went into Farnham Mill after Dad had a car accident. She was in for 2 weeks. Farnham Mill treated the whole family with compassion and understanding.

The home is of a great standard - it is bright, clean and the staff were very attentive and so well trained, based on the way they cared for Mum. We could not fault Farnham Mill and would highly recommend it.

Farnham Mill was absolutely fantastic. My father was only there for 10 days, joining them from hospital for end of life care and in that time the whole team showed him so much love and kindness. Everyone was so attentive and helpful and did all they could for dad. All of the staff made us as relatives so welcome too and not only looked after us but fed and watered us constantly too!
We were delighted that Sarah and her colleague were able to come to Dads memorial service too which was brilliant.

I cannot recommend Farnham Mill highly enough .

I was very nervous about moving my Dad into Farnham Mill, but our experience has been an overwhelmingly positive one. The whole staff community are unfailingly welcoming every time I visit and they work hard to create a stimulating, respectful and homely environment for my Dad. Communication and updates are regular and thorough, if I need clarity on anything staff members are always on hand to answer my questions. The activities team seem to have boundless energy and enthusiasm, their timetable is varied and interesting. Meals are prepared, cooked on site and delicious, I'm always offered a meal to eat with Dad, if I time my visit right!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Farnham Mill, not only do they take care of my Dad brilliantly, they take of me brilliantly too.

It will be 3 years in August that my parents have been at Woodlands, as I said last year, I couldn't be happier that they are residing here. Outstanding, caring & friendly staff, beautiful gardens to stroll around or sit in. Many activities & outings to entertain the residents, they always make sure everyone joins in too.

I've joined my parents for lunch & the food is great!

Christmas lunch was lovely, it was good to be able to spend Christmas day there, with my parents as mum's mobility is not good. However I'm sad to hear that, apparently we will not be able to do this in the future, (the only complaint I have)

Thank you once again to all the hard working staff!

L.J.

I visit a lady who has been a friend of my mother for over 50 years. Whenever we visit, we always receive a warm welcome from all your friendly staff. My mum has now been a resident at woodlands for nearly a year now. Mum always seems happy & content. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The staff look after her so well & always greet you with a smile. Mum joins in with the activities & enjoys going out for trips. It is lovely to receive news letters & be able to see mum enjoying herself as I cannot get to visit as often as I would like. It is wonderful to see that mum is so well looked after.
