Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home

Throughout her time there, the staff have been caring and dedicated, responsive to our requests and kept us well informed of her care.

Hill House is the second care facility that my father has been a resident of. I was unsettled by his first nursing home experience so was cautious when we first approached Hill House. From the very beginning of his care journey, the staff have been nothing short of excellent. They provide the level of care that you feel you would provide to your parent if they were to live with you. Huge effort is made to get to know them and their style of communication and every resident is treated with gentle care and respect. They also go to great lengths for relatives; my father wasn't able to attend our wedding and we were disappointed we couldnt celebrate with him. Hill House went to the most enormous efforts to put on a wedding celebration for is a few days later. They made us a wedding cake, decorated with our wedding colours and made the day extremely special. The team at HH made it possible for me to hold my father's hand as I walked down the aisle which I hadnt ever thought possible

I have my lunch provided for me when I visit and we eat in her room as this is what she prefers. She is unable to participate in the many activities that go on but she is included as much as she can be through visits from the therapy animals and music therapist. Hill House staff always go the extra mile to make sure our mum is happy. She enjoys a chat and staff are very good at making sure this happens. I can't recommend Hill House enough if your parent or loved one needs nursing care.

We are grateful to all the staff, the activities team are upbeat and fun, the care team are attentive and kind, the nurses are caring and always give us time to discuss any concerns we have. The housekeeping and maintenance staff keep the home immaculate and the food is always good, especially the cakes! The home is a warm and friendly place with a real sense of community and life about it. We are always made to feel welcome from the minute we arrive at reception to when we leave. I'm so happy we found Hill House for Mum, I know she is well cared for and that is such a relief

Hill House is an extraordinary place that is clearly run with great care. Every time I visit it's clear just how much energy goes in to everything - not just the basics of caring for the residents, but also a great deal that happens to make life here interesting and comfortable.

The staff make this home what it is, and Hill House benefits enormously from employing all its staff directly so the staff and residents know each other well. It's very noticeable that everyone has time to stop and talk to the residents, getting to know them or sharing a joke, so that life here seems very homely, personal and intimate.

The best example of the incredible nature of Hill House was this summer when my partner and I got married. Hill House arranged a whole wedding celebration for us - complete with reception and a cake - so we could celebrate with my father in law. We were blown away by the effort they went to, just as we've been impressed so many times by the staff at Hill House.

My husband has been a resident for one month and my family have found the care provided to be exemplary. The Carers have worked hard to increase his mobility and they show great patience and kindness towards him. The staff also extend these attributes to my family, making us feel part of the Hill House 'family'. The Nurses are very proactive in gauging the medication needs. Everyone is very approachable and I feel that I am kept informed of all aspects of my husband's daily life in the home. There are plenty of activities to stimulate the residents. To sum up, I have a warm feeling when I walk into the home.

Dad needed temporary respite care which ended up lasting 2 months before he moved to permanent accommodation. The admin team were very helpful and flexible even when we couldn't give them a firm date for how long Dad would stay. His room was comfortable, the nursing, care and reception staff were attentive and caring. Dad thoroughly enjoyed his time at Hill House and as a family we were always made very welcome each time we visited.

We are so happy that we chose Hill House for my mother-in-law. The home has such a lovely caring family vibe which we noticed as soon as we walked through the front door. The care shown to my mother in law has been exceptional particularly when her husband sadly passed away in March. Her health deteriorated at this time with grief but the support & care from the staff has brought her back to strength & she is very much enjoying life again. She is always included in the numerous activities & loves to go on outings. There are also regular family events that take place at Hill House which we have enjoyed sharing with her. An especially thoughtful touch was a lovely family birthday celebration prepared by the staff to mark her special day. Thank you to all the staff at Hill House.

Mum has been resident in Hill House for nearly two years. She was initially in the downstairs large lounge, then moved to upstairs where there is a smaller dementia unit for those that find it difficult to deal with lots of people and noise, which were affecting Mum. It is a lovely community with several ladies in a similar physical and mental condition. Everyone who works there does so because they enjoy it, they care. It has a wonderful, happy, caring atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. They put on a lot of meetings for relatives to gain feedback, and their social events allow residents and their families time to eat, drink, and enjoy music together.

The care Mum received at the end of her life was truly exceptional and we were able to spend those precious final days simply being with her due to the fantastic care she received. We highly recommend Hill House, outstanding care for our lovely Mum.

Hill House functions as a family with everyone making sure both the resident and their family is cared for. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My Aunt arrived at Hill House last September where she was welcomed with flowers and lots of kind and comforting words, she continues to be cared for by the amazing staff in the same manner. The staff at Hill House are permanent which means that from day to day my Aunt sees familiar faces which is so helpful. As well as the excellent personal care she receives she also enjoys the company of staff on a one to one basis for regular chats, cups tea and lots of cake! Every effort is made to to meet my Aunt's needs and I feel very supported and relieved to know that she is being so well looked after.

My mother nearly 100 years old has been at Hill house for nearly 4 years. She has become increasingly frail, wheelchair bound, partially blind and now with dementia. I only have the highest praise for the way she is cared for with compassion and kindness. Although she cannot take part in set activities she can enjoy interaction with the caring staff always on hand in what is a very happy home, clean bright and a place I enjoy visiting. This is very much down to the interaction of the staff, the activites that create a positive image through themes that engage the residents and visitors in what is also the lounge area so for mum it means she is aware of life going on around her and feels part of a community. She is well cared for, looks relaxed and content which means so much as she is completely dependent on the staff to be looked after and they treat her with such kindness. Having looked after mum myself I know how demanding it is to care for someone so I am full of gratitude.

My mother was a resident for over 3 years at Hill House. When she fell and broke her hip the staff could not have been more helpful and caring. One nurse called the ambulance while another spent however long holding her hand, comforting her. The hospital was good at fixing the hip but not able to cope with dementia. I was so relieved and thankful when she returned to a big welcome at Hill house. Despite the extra work, hoisting and trying to encourage her to eat again, all the care and nursing staff were so kind and patient. Sadly, she gave up on life, realising she was not going to be able to walk unaided. The staff enabled her to die peacefully. When I was not there, I knew they would be treating her as though she was their own mother/grandmother. It was better than a hospice, simply because they all knew her well. Everyone was supportive to me throughout. Thank you, Hill House staff.

I know my mother is very settled at Hill House and the staff are all wonderful, both to her and also to us whenever we visit. Everyone there is so welcoming and I see how attentive they are to my mother and to the other residents. I know we don't have to worry about her as her every need seems to be met. I know Mum enjoys the outings that are arranged, and chooses which activities she wants to participate in.

My mother has been with Hill Brow and then Hill House for over 5 years now. Each time we visit her, most weeks, at Hill House my wife and I are always amazed by the care and attention she receives. The staff are truly wonderful with her and she is very much looked after with love and dignity. Alzheimer's is a horrible condition and am not sure how we would have managed without the team at Hill House. It gives us great reassurance that she feels safe and well looked after. The affection and relationships she has built with the staff is remarkable which keeps her engaged and she enjoys the activities they put on, especially music and doing a bit of dancing. She could not be in a better place! Highly recommend Hill House - it is how caring for the elderly and especially those with dementia should be.

My mother, who is a long term resident, is very well cared for. She is treated with respect and kindness by all the staff. I feel reassured that her needs are being met and that if there are any problems I'm informed promptly. Although she doesn't take an active role in the activities she seems to be included. Any time we visit Mum we are greeted by all the staff who are all very kind and helpful. I am very happy with the staff and management of the home.
