My Aunt arrived at Hill House last September where she was welcomed with flowers and lots of kind and comforting words, she continues to be cared for by the amazing staff in the same manner. The staff at Hill House are permanent which means that from day to day my Aunt sees familiar faces which is so helpful. As well as the excellent personal care she receives she also enjoys the company of staff on a one to one basis for regular chats, cups tea and lots of cake! Every effort is made to to meet my Aunt's needs and I feel very supported and relieved to know that she is being so well looked after.

My mother nearly 100 years old has been at Hill house for nearly 4 years. She has become increasingly frail, wheelchair bound, partially blind and now with dementia. I only have the highest praise for the way she is cared for with compassion and kindness. Although she cannot take part in set activities she can enjoy interaction with the caring staff always on hand in what is a very happy home, clean bright and a place I enjoy visiting. This is very much down to the interaction of the staff, the activites that create a positive image through themes that engage the residents and visitors in what is also the lounge area so for mum it means she is aware of life going on around her and feels part of a community. She is well cared for, looks relaxed and content which means so much as she is completely dependent on the staff to be looked after and they treat her with such kindness. Having looked after mum myself I know how demanding it is to care for someone so I am full of gratitude.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident for over 3 years at Hill House. When she fell and broke her hip the staff could not have been more helpful and caring. One nurse called the ambulance while another spent however long holding her hand, comforting her. The hospital was good at fixing the hip but not able to cope with dementia. I was so relieved and thankful when she returned to a big welcome at Hill house. Despite the extra work, hoisting and trying to encourage her to eat again, all the care and nursing staff were so kind and patient. Sadly, she gave up on life, realising she was not going to be able to walk unaided. The staff enabled her to die peacefully. When I was not there, I knew they would be treating her as though she was their own mother/grandmother. It was better than a hospice, simply because they all knew her well. Everyone was supportive to me throughout. Thank you, Hill House staff.

Ever since our Mother became a resident at Hill House my brother and I have ceased to worry about Mother's wellbeing.
Simply because the all round 24 hour care that she receives is exemplary in every detail.
I have yet to visit her to find her upset.

She looks upon Hill House as her home!

For the past couple of years my mum has been taken care of at the nursing home. The care, commitment and empathy shown to each resident is outstanding.
From the moment you walk in, greeted by dedicated, helpful and always cheerful staff at reception, to the compassion shown with individual care.
The whole experience is amazing, always on hand to listen and update health issues and beiing kept informed every step of the way.
The staff know all the residents so well and the interaction with activities and outings is fantastic. Always plenty of home made food and drink, for residents and visitors...and staff.

Thank you to all the staff for your hard work and smiling faces.

I know my mother is very settled at Hill House and the staff are all wonderful, both to her and also to us whenever we visit. Everyone there is so welcoming and I see how attentive they are to my mother and to the other residents. I know we don't have to worry about her as her every need seems to be met. I know Mum enjoys the outings that are arranged, and chooses which activities she wants to participate in.

My mother has been with Hill Brow and then Hill House for over 5 years now. Each time we visit her, most weeks, at Hill House my wife and I are always amazed by the care and attention she receives. The staff are truly wonderful with her and she is very much looked after with love and dignity. Alzheimer's is a horrible condition and am not sure how we would have managed without the team at Hill House. It gives us great reassurance that she feels safe and well looked after. The affection and relationships she has built with the staff is remarkable which keeps her engaged and she enjoys the activities they put on, especially music and doing a bit of dancing. She could not be in a better place! Highly recommend Hill House - it is how caring for the elderly and especially those with dementia should be.

My mother, who is a long term resident, is very well cared for. She is treated with respect and kindness by all the staff. I feel reassured that her needs are being met and that if there are any problems I'm informed promptly. Although she doesn't take an active role in the activities she seems to be included. Any time we visit Mum we are greeted by all the staff who are all very kind and helpful. I am very happy with the staff and management of the home.

My mother spent 2 weeks in respite care over Christmas and the New Year. Every single staff member was so kind, excellent at their jobs and loving towards my mother. My Mum said at one point "I've never been looked after so well", and she loved the activities and the trip out. The activity leaders were fabulous - I had so much fun joining in with my Mum, and their activity options were really varied and creative.

Every single staff member contributed to making a difficult time for my Mum, myself and my brother a thousand times easier. They welcomed not just my Mum into their home, but also her family. The home was spotless, and the menu was exceptional too. I'm so grateful.

My father became a resident on the 6th November. From the very first contact we were all made to feel at home and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and took their time to get to know dad, his needs, as well as his likes and dislikes. We expected to have concerns leaving dad each day, but these were unfounded and in fact we felt comfortable knowing that he was being looked after to the highest standard. It was good to get the regular updates, especially after the doctor had visited, it gave much needed assurance that his care was monitored. Much more so in fact than when he had been at home.
The main lift was out of action whilst dad was a resident, but since we were able to use the staff lift it was not an inconvenience.
The only very small point I would like to make is the call system, it could be quite disturbing. It would have also been good to be able to call and ask for something, rather than it feel urgent.

Thanks to everyone who provided such excellent care.

My mum has been in Hill House for almost 2 years now and i cannot praise the home enough. All the staff are caring, attentive, nothing is to much trouble, supportive, helpful. Everyone is so welcoming it feels like our extended home. Regular updates are given in newsletters, social media, phone calls and residents meetings. It is lovely to see my mum laughing, smiling and enjoying activities which we could not get her to undertake at home. The activities are themed each week morning and afternoon and enjoyed very much by myself and my grandson when we visit regularly.

After having a very difficult time approaching the subject of my mum going into a nursing home, this was the best decision we made for her and our family. We know she is in the very best of hands where her medical care, personal care and wellbeing are at the foremost of the staff. And most importantly Mum now calls it her home.

Dad is well cared for and feels part of the family at Hill House. All the staff are friendly, respectful and polite towards him and to visitors at all times. The staff are responsive to changes in need and make prompt assessment and interventions including liaising with other professionals and his family as required. As a family we feel confident in the care and attention dad receives and that we are able to review and discuss his care regularly.

My mother has been in Hill House for two and a half years now and is approaching her 100th birthday. She has severe dementia but is clearly very happy in her home. Hill House is by far the best care home I have seen (and I've seen a few). The staff are always cheerful, attentive, and give mum all the kindness and support she needs. The home is well run and I can personally vouch that the food is excellent. There are plenty of games and activities during the week. Mum loves to join in where she can, or watch if not. I have nothing but praise for manager Shabana and her whole team!

My mother has been at Hill House since May 2024 initially for respite following a fall and broken wrist. Hill House were very helpful finding a room quickly and accepting Mum into their care. Initially Mum was reticent about being in the home but here dementia worsened and the decision was made to stay at Hill House on a permanent basis. The carers and nursing staff are fully committed to the care they give and Mum has eventually settled in to daily life at Hill House. Everyday is a new day. Nursing staff ensure Mum gets her medication. Mum is seen by the GP/ GP representative weekly and or as required and certain conditions have improved with the care being given. Mum is given the opportunity to get involved with activities arranged by the activities team including outings on the minibus.

Support for residents family is also good with regular newsletters etc but also with advise on allowances, other support services and completion of paperwork.

Blanche moved into Hill House in August 2022. Her decline with Alzheimer's has been ongoing from that point, meaning that additional care and support was required with each passing day. The staff have been superb from the outset. From reception, through carers, the entertainment team and nursing staff, everyone has been brilliant. They got to know Blanche really well and provided us with a very personal service as a result.
When we visited, staff were always available to talk and we were given time as well as tea and biscuits!
Blanche was never a great socialiser, but with encouragement she joined in with all sorts of activities. Her brain was certainly well stimulated with the cacophony of colours, sounds and objects around her!
During her final, days we knew that she was being well looked after, with staff at her side to offer comfort and support.
We cannot thank everyone enough for what they did for Blanche. A better care home you could not find!

Robert

Both my parents are residents at Hill House Nursing Home.My father has been there for over 3 years and my mother for nearly a year.Prior to this we had live in carers.I was recommended the home by several friends whose parents were residents. As a GP I have visited many care homes over the last 3 decades and can easily say that Hill House Nursing Home is head and shoulders above any other care home that I have seen.
The staff on the front desk are always welcoming and know who I am.The turn over of staff is very limited. The nursing staff and care assistants are very kind and attentive and are familiar with my parents health needs and have a good insight into their condition. The activities team are cheerful and full of energy. There is plenty to do for those that are able.I visit weekly and am always offered tea and cake which is delicious.

I can confidently say that my parents are in the best home available ,are treated with respect and are safe at all times.

Mum has been at Hill house for well over a year now. For most of us it is a really difficult decision to move our loved ones in to care. This home is run like a home. The facilities and staff are fantastic along with all the activities they offer.
