View Full Details of Hill House Nursing and Dementia HomeMy mother has been at Hill House since May 2024 initially for respite following a fall and broken wrist. Hill House were very helpful finding a room quickly and accepting Mum into their care. Initially Mum was reticent about being in the home but here dementia worsened and the decision was made to stay at Hill House on a permanent basis. The carers and nursing staff are fully committed to the care they give and Mum has eventually settled in to daily life at Hill House. Everyday is a new day. Nursing staff ensure Mum gets her medication. Mum is seen by the GP/ GP representative weekly and or as required and certain conditions have improved with the care being given. Mum is given the opportunity to get involved with activities arranged by the activities team including outings on the minibus. Support for residents family is also good with regular newsletters etc but also with advise on allowances, other support services and completion of paperwork.
Blanche moved into Hill House in August 2022. Her decline with Alzheimer's has been ongoing from that point, meaning that additional care and support was required with each passing day. The staff have been superb from the outset. From reception, through carers, the entertainment team and nursing staff, everyone has been brilliant. They got to know Blanche really well and provided us with a very personal service as a result. When we visited, staff were always available to talk and we were given time as well as tea and biscuits! Blanche was never a great socialiser, but with encouragement she joined in with all sorts of activities. Her brain was certainly well stimulated with the cacophony of colours, sounds and objects around her! During her final, days we knew that she was being well looked after, with staff at her side to offer comfort and support. We cannot thank everyone enough for what they did for Blanche. A better care home you could not find! Robert
My mother has has been cared for at Hill House for three years, during which time she has deteriorated due to dementia. Carers are always patient and kind, even when the residents behave like squabbling toddlers! The activities staff are imaginative and come up with fun things for them to join in if they wish to, including trips out, such as the community choir that runs every fortnight, alternating between at Hill House and Farnham Mill. My mother likes singing the old songs and hymns and dancing to more modern songs. A time for smiles and laughter while exercising mind and body. Everyone on the staff is friendly and approachable. The regular updates from the nursing staff and the ability to talk to them and the managers when I have concerns is comforting. I am glad to have found somewhere where my mother is safe, well cared-for and happier than she was at home.
Knowing that not only is dad being cared for at the highest professional standard , but that this is with both love and respect gives me total peace of mind that dad is in the right Nursing Home. Staff always make visiting as homely as possible with tea / coffee and often cake. The bbq's this summer have been a wonderful opportunity for grandchildren and great grandkids to have a fun time with dad enjoying the entertainment together. I highly recommend Hill House.
Mum took a while to adjust and accept she wouldn't be returning home, but the staff have been so supportive and caring that she is very settled and contented. She thoroughly enjoys the activities and outings, but is able to retreat to her own space when she doesn't want to socialise. I'm not able to visit my mother as often as I'd like but I know she is incredibly well looked after. I also find all the carers etc at Hill House are very welcoming when I do visit.
A wonderful, caring environment. Always activities going on, the food is superb, regular updates on your loved one's medical situation, and newsletters showing what has been going on in the care home with photos. It's like an all inclusive holiday without the beach!
Mum has been at Hill house for well over a year now. For most of us it is a really difficult decision to move our loved ones in to care. This home is run like a home. The facilities and staff are fantastic along with all the activities they offer. They keep in regular contact via social media updates, monthly reports and you are always welcome to call for updates or visit whenever you wish. I love seeing the photos of Mum smiling and joining it. It really is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Thank you to everyone who cares for my Mum and does such an amazing job.
Both my parents are residents at Hill House Nursing Home.My father has been there for over 3 years and my mother for nearly a year.Prior to this we had live in carers.I was recommended the home by several friends whose parents were residents. As a GP I have visited many care homes over the last 3 decades and can easily say that Hill House Nursing Home is head and shoulders above any other care home that I have seen. The staff on the front desk are always welcoming and know who I am.The turn over of staff is very limited. The nursing staff and care assistants are very kind and attentive and are familiar with my parents health needs and have a good insight into their condition. The activities team are cheerful and full of energy. There is plenty to do for those that are able.I visit weekly and am always offered tea and cake which is delicious. I can confidently say that my parents are in the best home available ,are treated with respect and are safe at all times.
My mum was transferred to Hill House from hospital after breaking her hip. She was very upset and unsettled for several days. The staff at Hill House were so calm and kind to her. Nothing was too much trouble and they never rushed her. She is now happy and settled. Whenever I visit she is up and dressed and she always looks fresh and cared for. The staff are always on hand immediately if any of the residents need anything. There are always a variety of activities available for the residents to choose to participate in if they want to and my mum enjoys joining in. I am kept up to date with all her care, medical needs and GP visits and all staff are always available for me to chat to about any concerns. I am very happy with the care that my mum receives and feel that I can trust all the staff to look after her. Even though her dementia has deteriorated she is still able to enjoy and have a good quality of life at Hill House
When I could no longer look after my husband at home, this care home was the nearest I could find with a true homely feeling. I am informed immediately if there are any issues. All the staff are kind and caring and all ways make me feel welcome when I come to visit.
It's difficult moving a loved one to a care home and there is inevitably a settling in period. After a challenging initial time Mum has settled in remarkably well. She looks and seems well and is much more engaged and lively than when she was at home. The staff are exceptional - polite, caring and welcoming. Importantly Mum seems to both respect and like them. Moving Mum to Hill House has been the right decision and I'm relieved to see her enjoying her twilight years.
My mum has been in the care home for 3 months now and we are so pleased with the care and support she has received. Like many, it was a very difficult decision, she has dementia but wanted to stay in her own home. My brother and I made the decision to move her as we were worried about how she was coping at home and we wanted to be closer geographically to her. The first few days were unsettling but now we can visit at any time, she is always pleased to see us and she gets involved with activities every day! She has settled in extremely well and all the staff have been absolutely fantastic. She is still mobile but has support with hygiene and dressing. She loves the food and the structure of the day really suits her. We cannot recommend the care home enough. Thank you!
Our last visit was to see our mum as she passed away. The staff looked after mum 24 hours a day when we were not there. When we visited we were given tea, coffee ,cakes and biscuits and later home made sandwiches from the kitchen. We were told that if we wanted to stay over there was a room for us.Mum was at the home for four years the care she received was always first class. The staff from kitchen, reception, care, nursing, activities and office have always been caring attentive and friendly. They have all done a marvellous job from day one. They are all heroes in my eyes.
My Mother was in the dementia section of Hill House for two months until her death. We chose Hill House because she had been there on two previous occasions, for respite care, and we knew that she would be well looked after. The staff were, without exception, amazing. They were attentive to her needs, warm and caring, smiling and cheerful. They always maintained her dignity, and I never felt that she was neglected in any way. My Mother was able to do absolutely nothing for herself, but the staff were patient, never rushed or complained, they just dealt with everything gently, and at the right pace for my Mother. It was a difficult time for me when my Mother was so ill, and we knew that the end was close. But the staff always greeted me warmly, would ask me how I was doing, made me a never ending supply of cups of tea, and would give me hugs when I became tearful. So I felt as if they were actually caring for both of us.
I've visited this home many times and I always find the staff amazing and the general care for residents very good. Food looks good too. Great warm care home and great staff. Manager is on point. Always seems clean and tidy.
Since moving into Hill House, Mum has received excellent care from all the staff. We are notified about all aspects of her care and her care plan is reviewed regularly with us. There are also updates about the varied and fun activities that residents can choose to be involved in. What really stands out for us though, is the dedication, kindness and respect that the staff show towards mum and we can't thank them enough for that. Mum is happy and settled here.
My Mum has been a resident since July 2024, she has dementia and needs full time nursing care. The staff have been amazing at making her welcome and helping her to settle in. We get regular updates about how mum is doing and if there are any issues that come up, which is very reassuring. The staff are also very welcoming to us when we visit, which really helps make time we spend with Mum as relaxing as possible. I have seen how the staff reassure the residents when they are distressed, including my Mum. There are lots of different activities that the staff encourage Mum to join in with, and it is lovely to see some of the photos from these events. The overall care provided is very good, and it a very safe and caring environment.
My mum continues to receive excellent care. She is loved and valued by the staff and treated with respect and dignity. The continuity of care staff and nurses is highly valued and communication between them and myself is ongoing and informative. The relationships I have built with staff during the last three years have meant that each visit to mum is like visiting family; a significant part of the support needed whilst watching a loved one decline. This is a hideous disease but knowing that my mum is safe and well cared for every day makes a huge difference to her family. Thankyou .
My mum has been in Hill House for 1 1/2 yrs now. It was a struggle for her to even accept going into a nursing home but now she calls it her home and is very happy there. All the staff are amazing, very friendly, nothing is too much trouble, dedicated, caring, approachable and just a wonderful team. We are regularly kept up to date with her health and wellbeing. Activities are well structured and love the themed weeks ensuring that there is plenty to do. She is even doing things like knitting and colouring which she loved to do but we could not get her to do at home. Rooms are decorated lovely and spotlessly clean. Food is lovely and varied. Regular meetings for family with the proprietor who ensures every complaint, suggestion, ideas are listened to and actioned. I feel that if i'm away on holiday my mum is well cared for in everyway which gives me peace of mind and comfort to know she is in very good hands. Thoroughly recommend to the highest standard of care.
I am very satisfied overall with the care given to my mother over the last 18 months, particularly by the general carers who have shown a great deal of compassion, empathy and patience. I'm extremely grateful to them for all they do.
