Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home is a purpose built, 56-bedroom home, committed to the highest standards of care and service, within a friendly and happy family run home. The home is rated Outstanding in caring and Good Overall by CQC (April 2022).

The aim is to provide the highest level of care in a dignified and compassionate way, with the best facilities and equipment in a comfortable home with trained experienced staff. There is a full and diverse activities programme for the residents put on throughout the home, providing many opportunities to socialise, participate and pursue their own interests. Outside there are beautiful, landscaped gardens and courtyards planted with year-round colour which are accessed by level, flat paths.

Qualified nurses and trained carers try and improve the quality of life for those who have chosen to live at the home. The approach is not one routine fits all, but rather a more personal care plan that makes allowances for the individuals' needs and concerns. The residents are at the centre of the home helping to create the Chef's menu's and choosing the activities programme. Everyone at Hill House wants the residents to be well cared for, happy and enjoy living at Hill House.

Although I live in America, I’ve been able to visit my mother twice in the last year while she has been a resident of Hill House, staying nearby and visiting her daily for a week each time. I was extremely impressed with the whole atmosphere of the home, from the welcoming and caring staff to the wonderful
activities provided every day for the residents. My siblings visit our mother regularly, and I’m often able to have a video visit with them. They also share with me health updates and the fun activity newsletters. Being so far away, it is extremely comforting to know that my mother is in such competent and caring hands.

My mother has been a resident since August 2022 and Hill House has proven itself to be a wonderful home for her. Hill House does not employ agency staff - all staff are employed directly and as a result work as a cohesive team, they all know Mum well and she knows and trusts them. The entertainment
for residents is fabulous - there is never a dull moment, and the team make sure every resident feels included and special. As a family, we cannot fault Hill House and feel very lucky to have found it.

The staff of Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home are always friendly, polite and professional. They treat Dad with respect at all times ensuring he has choices and is supported in his decision making. He is encouraged to join in activities which are always varied and fun but when Dad wants to be in
his room staff ensure that he has things to keep him occupied and regularly check on him.
Dad is happy at Hill House where he feels safe, has a routine for him and is well cared for by a designated team whom he trusts.
As relatives, we are kept informed of Dad's care and invited to contribute towards care planning. We are always made to feel welcome and an important part of Dad's life.
There are regular relatives meetings including via video call so everyone has a chance to be kept informed and to be part of wider discussions.

As another review put it so eloquently, moving a parent into a care home is difficult and emotional, especially if dementia is involved. Our father was fiercely independent and very resistant to any type of care. It became unsafe to keep him at home and the move was traumatic because he went into Hill
House in the middle of a lockdown.
The staff at Hill House are consistent and all are warm and friendly. They really care about their residents and have lots of experience. They do all the personal care jobs and continue to smile, difficult as these jobs must be. My father became quite rude and fought off help, but with time he mellowed and now he says that 'the care is very good'. He has been at Hill House for three years. The nurses and day-to-day staff are all really kind and the food is excellent. My father now spends most of his time asleep and he does not participate in activities but he would not have wanted to anyway. The staff call and update us all the time. We visit every week.

Moving a loved one into a home is emotional and difficult. 15-months down the line, our journey is still ongoing, we can honestly say Hill House has helped to ease the pain. Our mother is in an environment where she feels respected, safe and “at home”.
One of the reasons we chose Hill House is the
consistency of staff and without exception, the same care team has looked after our mother from her arrival. This has given her, and us, a sense of continuity, and seamless communication with nursing and admin staff.
We visit often and witness the daily running of Hill House. It is always buzzing! The wonderfully creative activities team keeps everyone engaged. And, although our mother was frail, and resistant to ‘joining in,’ she was always made to feel a part of the community.
My three siblings and I are so glad we found Hill House. It has given us peace of mind, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a home where your loved ones will feel safe, nurtured and understood.

My mother spent her last days at Hill House after spending 7 weeks in hospital. The care and love she received from the staff at Hill House was wonderful. The comfort provided in her room first class. My brother and I spent quiet and peaceful hours with her at this sad time. Thank you so much.

My lovely dad went to Hill House for almost a month's respite care subsequent to a fall at home and was cared for superbly. In an extreme state of frailty, he was treated with kindness, respect and outstanding communication. My dad spent a period in hospital prior to his respite and Hill House went
out of their way to ensure he was assessed and picked up from the hospital setting as soon as he could be discharged. Pain from a broken shoulder injury was managed extremely well and all staff with whom I came into contact were compassionate, knowledgeable about his condition and most importantly genuinely kind. I would not hesitate to recommend Hill House to any potential relative or service user for peace of mind and outstanding care for your loved ones. Thank you to everyone without exception.

Hill House has been a godsend for us after caring for our 90-year-old mother for a year, we finally decided that we were not able to keep her well and looked for full-time nursing care. Mum has been a resident at Hill House now for 6 months. From the first moment we walked into this nursing home we felt the warmth and love from all the staff; this is a happy place.
Mum is very well looked after and seems peaceful and content within her new environment. The care and compassion from

My mother has been a resident for just over a year. Our experience has been that the facilities are excellent and the staff are kind, professional, and very committed to providing the best possible care. There always seems to be something happening at Hill House with wide-ranging activities which seem
both stimulating and entertaining. We have been particularly impressed with the high level of communication. As well as the regular excellent pictorial newsletter we receive a monthly 'personal' update and emails from the nursing staff whenever there is something to report. We really value this high level of communication.
We have always found whoever we have come into contact with in whatever role to be friendly, kind, and patient. I would certainly highly recommend Hill House - the staff are brilliant.

Mum has been a resident since last year and I'm very happy with the care she receives, her behaviour can be quite challenging at times but the staff always seem to find ways to reassure her, the GP visits on a regular basis and we're always kept informed about any changes with Mum via email, there are
various activities which Mum doesn't always take part in but she's happy to sit and watch, I can always leave Mum after a visit safe in the knowledge that she is being well looked after.

My father has been at Hill House for nearly two years and I continue to be amazed by the wonderful care he receives from every single member of staff. Over his time at the home he has been coaxed into joining in with the wonderful activities that are organised by the incredible activity team and has
been on trips out with them which really makes his day as his mobility is an issue so without them he would not be able to venture out as it would be too much for me to take him out alone. I cannot recommend this nursing home enough as the staff are superstars.

Whenever I visit my mum at Hill House there is always a warm welcome from the reception staff and all the care staff. They know who I am and who I am there to see and that attention to detail is reflected in the care that I see for Mum. Despite Mum's condition meaning that she can be challenging they
always treat her with utmost respect at all times and the patience shown is fantastic. The personal care that she receives is really good, she'd never had her nails done before she moved into Hill House! Although she is confused as to where she is it's a great relief to all the family that she is now in a safe, caring environment as her condition starts to deteriorate.

The Hill House team continues to care for my mum with kindness and great compassion. Her needs are met from laundry to toileting and always with a smile. Alzheimer's makes caring challenging, but the staff always do their best. We are kept informed by email/telephone of any issues and any concerns
are dealt with swiftly. A full activity calendar is provided but not all of these are suitable for Mum due to her condition but she will watch and likes being nosey. She has developed a mean sense of humour lately which seems to keep everyone amused. We have attended BBQs, competitions and most recently were fortunate enough to be with Mum when a ballet class visited. It was a true delight and the interaction we had with Mum was priceless. We are always made to feel welcome and the reception staff always greet you with a smile. The menus are varied and Mum particularly enjoys the puddings and Mum's room is always clean and tidy.

Hill House continues to offer kindness and care to my mum. Her needs are met, and the staff work hard. Alzheimer's makes caring challenging at times, and the carers at Hill House always do their best. There is always a jam-packed activity calendar, but not all of these are suitable for our mum due to
her condition, but the activities staff will always visit Mum's lounge area during the course of the day. We are always made to feel welcome and are encouraged to take part in the friends and relatives events. Most recently, a dance school has been an absolute joy, and to see the happiness on Mum's face was priceless. The menus are good, and Mum always enjoys her food.

Mum has been in Hill House since April 2022 and is very settled there. The staff are kind, attentive and they know her and her little foibles very well. She is exceptionally well cared for. She is safe, comfortable and has her favourite biscuits beside her! The continuity of staff is a major factor
in her contentment and now masks are no longer required she is able to talk with them (lip reading) despite being very deaf. Hill House is spotlessly clean; the food is very good and the whole place smells fresh on every visit. We are kept up to date with frequent emails and are always able to chat with management and nursing/care staff at any time. Hill House is a welcoming, happy, caring environment. We are so pleased we found such a lovely, friendly place for Mum.

Mum always seems quite happy. The staff know her and are aware of her needs and her likes and dislikes. The staff are welcoming when we come to visit. The food choices are good and Mum is always offered a variety of options.

My 98-year-old cousin has lived in Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home for over 3 years. I visit when I can as I live a little distance away. Hill House is always welcoming, helpful and calm. Receiving weekly photos of residents enjoying the imaginative activities is so reassuring for someone like
me who can't pop in as often as I like. The care and thoughtfulness of the staff is exceptional. A lovely place.

My mother, who has been in the home for the last six years, has always received the best care. The staff have always been caring and sympathetic to my mother's needs. When visiting I and my brother and my sister were always made to feel welcome and treated with kindness. The staff cared incredibly well
during the Covid pandemic and they always kept us well informed with visiting roles and made every effort to enable us to visit safely! I would highly recommend the nursing and dementia houses.

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.


I am immensely proud of the standards of care we achieve and the family ethos and feel which runs through the heart of our homes.

My values and passions have been consistent from the start. I pride myself on the quality and high standard of care with a person- centred approach based on each individual resident by creating and supporting a homely and warm atmosphere where residents feel safe and well cared for. My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.

I'm Steve, and I have the privilege of working as a Chef at Farnham Mill. It brings me immense joy to be part of a company that truly cares for its employees and fosters a supportive atmosphere. The management team is exceptional, always putting the well-being of both the residents and staff at the forefront.


One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is preparing meals for our residents. I make it a point to engage with each person individually, learning about their favourite foods and drinks. Their happiness is my priority, creating wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they genuinely enjoy.


In addition to my kitchen duties, I also manage the chefs' table and cooking club at both Farnham Mill and Hill House. It’s my passion to encourage our residents to explore their culinary skills and creativity, ensuring that we keep that spirit alive together.
