View Full Details of Hill House Nursing and Dementia HomeIt's difficult moving a loved one to a care home and there is inevitably a settling in period. After a challenging initial time Mum has settled in remarkably well. She looks and seems well and is much more engaged and lively than when she was at home. The staff are exceptional - polite, caring and welcoming. Importantly Mum seems to both respect and like them. Moving Mum to Hill House has been the right decision and I'm relieved to see her enjoying her twilight years.
My mum has been in the care home for 3 months now and we are so pleased with the care and support she has received. Like many, it was a very difficult decision, she has dementia but wanted to stay in her own home. My brother and I made the decision to move her as we were worried about how she was coping at home and we wanted to be closer geographically to her. The first few days were unsettling but now we can visit at any time, she is always pleased to see us and she gets involved with activities every day! She has settled in extremely well and all the staff have been absolutely fantastic. She is still mobile but has support with hygiene and dressing. She loves the food and the structure of the day really suits her. We cannot recommend the care home enough. Thank you!
Our last visit was to see our mum as she passed away. The staff looked after mum 24 hours a day when we were not there. When we visited we were given tea, coffee ,cakes and biscuits and later home made sandwiches from the kitchen. We were told that if we wanted to stay over there was a room for us.Mum was at the home for four years the care she received was always first class. The staff from kitchen, reception, care, nursing, activities and office have always been caring attentive and friendly. They have all done a marvellous job from day one. They are all heroes in my eyes.
My Mother was in the dementia section of Hill House for two months until her death. We chose Hill House because she had been there on two previous occasions, for respite care, and we knew that she would be well looked after. The staff were, without exception, amazing. They were attentive to her needs, warm and caring, smiling and cheerful. They always maintained her dignity, and I never felt that she was neglected in any way. My Mother was able to do absolutely nothing for herself, but the staff were patient, never rushed or complained, they just dealt with everything gently, and at the right pace for my Mother. It was a difficult time for me when my Mother was so ill, and we knew that the end was close. But the staff always greeted me warmly, would ask me how I was doing, made me a never ending supply of cups of tea, and would give me hugs when I became tearful. So I felt as if they were actually caring for both of us.
I've visited this home many times and I always find the staff amazing and the general care for residents very good. Food looks good too. Great warm care home and great staff. Manager is on point. Always seems clean and tidy.
Since moving into Hill House, Mum has received excellent care from all the staff. We are notified about all aspects of her care and her care plan is reviewed regularly with us. There are also updates about the varied and fun activities that residents can choose to be involved in. What really stands out for us though, is the dedication, kindness and respect that the staff show towards mum and we can't thank them enough for that. Mum is happy and settled here.
My Mum has been a resident since July 2024, she has dementia and needs full time nursing care. The staff have been amazing at making her welcome and helping her to settle in. We get regular updates about how mum is doing and if there are any issues that come up, which is very reassuring. The staff are also very welcoming to us when we visit, which really helps make time we spend with Mum as relaxing as possible. I have seen how the staff reassure the residents when they are distressed, including my Mum. There are lots of different activities that the staff encourage Mum to join in with, and it is lovely to see some of the photos from these events. The overall care provided is very good, and it a very safe and caring environment.
My mum continues to receive excellent care. She is loved and valued by the staff and treated with respect and dignity. The continuity of care staff and nurses is highly valued and communication between them and myself is ongoing and informative. The relationships I have built with staff during the last three years have meant that each visit to mum is like visiting family; a significant part of the support needed whilst watching a loved one decline. This is a hideous disease but knowing that my mum is safe and well cared for every day makes a huge difference to her family. Thankyou .
My mum has been in Hill House for 1 1/2 yrs now. It was a struggle for her to even accept going into a nursing home but now she calls it her home and is very happy there. All the staff are amazing, very friendly, nothing is too much trouble, dedicated, caring, approachable and just a wonderful team. We are regularly kept up to date with her health and wellbeing. Activities are well structured and love the themed weeks ensuring that there is plenty to do. She is even doing things like knitting and colouring which she loved to do but we could not get her to do at home. Rooms are decorated lovely and spotlessly clean. Food is lovely and varied. Regular meetings for family with the proprietor who ensures every complaint, suggestion, ideas are listened to and actioned. I feel that if i'm away on holiday my mum is well cared for in everyway which gives me peace of mind and comfort to know she is in very good hands. Thoroughly recommend to the highest standard of care.
I am very satisfied overall with the care given to my mother over the last 18 months, particularly by the general carers who have shown a great deal of compassion, empathy and patience. I'm extremely grateful to them for all they do.
I am so pleased that I chose Hill House for the ongoing care for my father. All the staff from the nurses to the carers, reception, entertainment team, kitchen team and laundry/maintenance all provide exceptional service and care to the residents and their families and go above and beyond in their everyday tasks. The nursing staff are always available to answer any questions/concerns and provide regular medical updates with prompt intervention where necessary.
Mum has been in Hill House for the last 13 months, suffering from dementia. Every time I visit I'm welcomed with warm smiles from all the staff. They know you by name, they always make time for a chat and you're made to feel like you're part of a really big family. All the staff have really taken the time to get to know mum and understand her needs, which is particularly important as she has very limited verbal skills. They know what activities she enjoys and what she doesn't and you can see they put that knowledge into practice. Mum's care is fantastic and she couldn't be in a better place. Everyone is so lovely with her; patient, caring and kind. I know that in Hill House she is happy, safe, well looked after and always treated with compassion and dignity. All the staff are approachable and I know that if I have any questions or concerns they will be dealt with immediately, however I rarely need to ask any questions because the communication, both written and verbal is so good.
My mother has been a resident at Hill House since September 2022. I'm very pleased about how she has been consistently looked after since then. My mother is in a wheelchair, has macular degeneration and can barely see and hard of hearing The carers are so attentive and my mother is relaxed and confident with those who look after her every need. The nurse are in hand for chats about mum. There is good communication between the home and myself The home is spotless. It's a happy home where relatives feel welcome and the layout means the lounge and activities take place in one area so there's always feeling of life going on around my mother even if she can't join in all the activities she's still part of the group Having looked at other homes I'm extremely happy that at nearly 99 my mum feels wanted and cared for by people who are her family in so many ways. This is so reassuring for me
My 93 yr old Mother has been a resident of Hill house for over a year now and I have to say I have no complaints whatsoever. All the staff from the carers, nurses, events team, reception etc. are incredible. They go over and above in all they do. The genuine care is always given with a smile. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly. My Mother had a birthday gathering which was prepared beautifully by the events staff, who couldn't have been more accommodating. I never worry when I leave Hill House, as I know she is happy and well looked after. I would highly recommend to anyone.
My mother was previously at Woodlands house but moved over to Hill House a couple of years ago when her dementia worsened and she needed more medical care for some of the side effects, such as swallowing issues. She settled in quickly there and takes part in activities. The staff are exceptional and the atmosphere there is always of genuine care. Hill House provides simply the best care and are right to be proud of that. The people working there are always brimming with kindness, attentiveness and respect. I have never once doubted that my mum is in the best possible place, for this time of her life. She deserves nothing but the best and somehow we managed to find exactly that for her! Special thank you to the manager, who keeps me in the loop and arranges video calls, because I live and work in Arctic Canada. Thankfully my brother lives a short drive away from Hill House and is able to visit regularly in person and enjoys the family activities.
Hill House is by far the best care home we encountered when it came time for Mum to go into dementia care. It is well run, properly staffed and offers a friendly and cheerful home, combined with top-quality professional nursing and personal care. My family and I could not recommend Hill House any higher!
Mum has been at Hill House for 2 years. The Staff there are wonderful - Care staff, entertainers, reception, nurses - all very caring, welcoming and patient. The facilities are good and are clean. The garden is a delightful refuge when the weather is good, The nursing staff are excellent in keeping us informed as to mum's health. And the chef is great at catering to mum's wishes. I am welcomed every time I visit & when I leave I feel reassured Mum is in good hands.
I really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, and the residents seemed happy and well taken care of. The staff were super friendly and polite, and everything was so clean and tidy. They took the time to check in and make sure everything was just right. Honestly, I would definitely recommend this place for my own family!
Our relative has settled well and the improvement in her emotional wellbeing has been reassuring. Even though she only has a few memories she is bringing them up in conversations again. She is kept entertained and keeps staff on their toes. All staff from managers to reception are warm and friendly also very caring.
My mother has been at Hill House for well over 2 years, suffering from dementia. Whatever time of day I call in, I am always welcomed and feel 'part of the family' there. It makes visiting so much more enjoyable. My mother's care is better than I could have hoped for. All the staff are kind and caring and have endless patience, even at the end of a long day. The home manager and nursing staff are all approachable and ready to listen if I have any concerns or if I just need reassurance. They are very aware of all the residents and what is going on because they are hands-on and regularly visit the various lounges. The activities staff go over and above to catch the interest of the residents with fun things to do, including singing and dancing.
