Shift Times: 08:30 – 13:30
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time
Rota: Includes every other weekend

Ocean Living Care Home is looking for a skilled and dependable Cook to join our friendly team in Mumbles.

In a smaller care home like ours, food is a huge part of daily life. We are therefore looking for someone who takes genuine pride in cooking, keeps a clean and organised kitchen, and understands how important good meals are for residents’ wellbeing.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a cook in a care home, small kitchen, cafe?, or similar environment, and is confident working independently and running the kitchen during their shift.

About Ocean Living

Ocean Living is a 14-bed residential care home supporting older adults, including individuals living with dementia. Our smaller home creates a warm, family-style environment, where residents value familiar, home-cooked meals and consistency.

The Role

As Cook, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, home-style meals for up to 14 residents, ensuring food is both enjoyable and suitable for individual needs.

You will work independently in the kitchen during your shift while maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing fresh, well-balanced home-cooked meals and desserts
• Catering for allergies, special diets and texture-modified meals
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation
• Maintaining safe food storage, preparation and kitchen records
• Working closely with care staff to meet residents’ nutritional needs
• Keeping the kitchen inspection ready at all times

Please note: Menu planning, ordering and budgeting are managed by the Home Manager, allowing you to focus on preparing quality meals and maintaining a well-run kitchen.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone reliable, organised and confident working independently in a kitchen environment.

? Previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen (essential)
? Experience working in a care home, school, cafe?, restaurant or similar setting preferred
? Confident working alone and managing a small kitchen during your shift
? Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
? Ability to prepare meals for special diets and allergens

Essential

? Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate
? Strong organisational skills and attention to cleanliness

Desirable

? Food Hygiene Level 3 or HACCP training
? Previous experience cooking in a care home environment
