The home
Situated in the beautiful market town of Castle Douglas, overlooking Carlingwark Loch and surrounded by the magnificent Galloway countryside, Carlingwark House is warm, welcoming home that provides residential care and support for up to 30 older people, including people who are living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Staff Management
· Support the Home Manager with staff supervision, recruitment, and training.
· Lead shifts and provide guidance to nurses, care assistants, and support staff.
· Conduct staff appraisals, supervisions, and performance management.
· Promote a positive and professional working environment.
2. Resident Care & Wellbeing
· Ensure all residents receive person-centred care in line with care plans.
· Monitor residents’ health, wellbeing, and safeguarding needs.
· Liaise with families, GPs, and healthcare professionals.
· Support residents with dignity, independence, and respect.
3. Regulatory Compliance
· Ensure the home complies with regulations set by the Care Quality Commission.
· Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
· Support the home in preparing for CQC inspections.
· Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed.
4. Operational Management
· Assist with rota planning and staffing levels.
· Help manage budgets, supplies, and resources.
· Ensure health and safety policies are implemented.
· Monitor infection control and medication management procedures.
5. Quality Assurance
· Conduct audits (care plans, medication, incidents).
· Address complaints and incidents appropriately.
· Implement improvement plans to enhance service quality.
