Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for providing exceptional care to our residents, particularly those with dementia and other senior care needs. As the Deputy Manager, you will support the overall management of the facility, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained while fostering a positive environment for both staff and residents. Included in the role are 3 days designated as supernumerary hours. The salary is based on 44 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing daily operations of the care home and in the managers absence, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Supervise and lead a team of care staff, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance their skills in senior and dementia care.
  • Manage resident care plans, ensuring that individual needs are met through tailored support and interventions.
  • Illustrate the application of clinical expertise.
  • Foster a compassionate and respectful atmosphere for residents, promoting their dignity and independence.
  • Conduct regular assessments of resident health and wellbeing, collaborating with nursing staff to implement necessary changes in care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident care activities and staff performance, reporting any concerns to the Manager promptly.
  • Engage with families and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication regarding resident care and facility operations.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a senior care or nursing home environment is essential.
  • Nursing qualification is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with dementia care practices and an understanding of the unique needs of elderly residents is crucial.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
