Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant (Nights) to join our vibrant healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, person-centered care to residents during overnight shifts, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a warm, supportive environment for individuals with diverse needs, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's, disabilities, or requiring palliative care. Duties
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, ensuring prompt response to emerging needs
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met while respecting individual preferences and dietary restrictions
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts safely to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers
- Conduct regular patient observation to identify signs of distress or deterioration, reporting findings to nursing staff promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and assisting with light housekeeping duties as needed
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive atmosphere
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in, nursing homes, home health care, or group home settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
- Valid certifications in CPR and First Aid are required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist residents with mobility using proper techniques and equipment
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in condition or behavior
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare team members
