Regal Care Trading Limited, a leading provider of residential, nursing, and dementia care, is seeking a reliable and skilled Handyman / Maintenance Operative to join our Maintenance Team at our care home in St Leonards-on-Sea.

Our homes provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for older people, including those living with dementia. The maintenance team plays a vital role in ensuring the building, equipment, and facilities remain safe and well maintained for both residents and staff.

About the Role

As a Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting residents with their daily needs while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. You will provide compassionate care to older people, including those living with dementia, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and valued.

No two days are the same. You will support residents with personal care, encourage social engagement, and help create a warm, homely environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Assisting residents with meals, hydration, and nutrition.
  • Providing companionship and emotional support to residents.
  • Supporting residents to participate in activities and social engagement.
  • Following individual care plans to ensure residents receive personalised care.
  • Recording care provided and communicating effectively with colleagues.
  • Promoting dignity, respect, and independence for all residents.

About You

We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality care.

You will have:

  • A kind, patient, and respectful approach to supporting older people.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive and flexible attitude.
  • A genuine interest in working in elderly and dementia care.

Experience in a care home or home care setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Requirements

  • Previous care experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy care environment.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to high standards of care.
  • The right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but not essential.
  • Basic IT skills to support electronic care documentation.
