Job summary

General Assistant, Coppelia House - 33 hours per week, to include alternate weekends. £12.75.

Great care depends on the everyday support that keeps everything running smooth - that’s where you come in…

Let’s be honest: this role involves mops, laundry bags, trays, trolleys - and the occasional unexpected mess. But it’s also about something much bigger…

It’s about comfort. About dignity. About helping a care home feel like home.

When rooms are clean, clothes are fresh and meals flow smoothly, residents feel calmer, safer, and more respected. Families notice it too. And so does the whole care team.

As a General Assistant in our care home, you’re not working in the background - you’re a vital part of daily life. You’re the person who quietly keeps things running, who notices the small details, and who brings care into everything you do.

What you’ll do:

  • Keep bedrooms, bathrooms and shared spaces clean, comfortable and welcoming.
  • Support laundry services so residents’ clothes and linens are fresh, clean and treated with care.
  • Assist in the kitchen as a porter, helping with washing up, keeping areas tidy and supporting meal service.
  • Respond to spills, accidents and messes calmly, discreetly and without judgement - because dignity always comes first.
  • Help create a peaceful, organised environment where residents can relax and feel at home.
  • Work closely with care, housekeeping and kitchen teams to keep each day running smoothly.

Who you are:

  • Someone who takes pride in doing things properly, even when no one’s watching.
  • Kind, respectful and mindful that a resident’s room is their personal space.
  • Reliable, practical and happy to get stuck in where needed.
  • Able to stay calm and compassionate, even in more challenging moments.
  • New to care environments? That’s absolutely fine. If you bring warmth, reliability and the right attitude, we’ll support you every step of the way.

What we offer:

  • A role where you’ll see the difference you make every single day.
  • Fully paid training plus excellent opportunities to grow and progress.
  • A caring induction with your own mentor to help you settle in confidently.
  • Free DBS check and auto-enrolment into our pension scheme.
  • Flex Earn - see and access your earned wages before payday.
  • Eligibility for the Blue Light Card, giving you discounts across shops, restaurants and more.
  • Free meals when you’re working long shifts.
  • Access to a Peninsula Care Homes Mental Health First Aider, an external confidential helpline for you and your family, the ‘Whycare?’ app, and a Refer a Friend scheme (earning you money for bringing your friends on board)
  • The freedom to bring your personality, kindness and creativity into everything you do.

This role isn’t about perfection - it’s about compassion, care and the quiet impact of making someone’s day a little easier. Through clean, welcoming spaces and thoughtful support, you’ll help people feel truly at home.

If that sounds like work you’d take pride in, we’d love to welcome you to the team.
