Job summary

JOB ROLE; Night Care Assistant 

Responsible to Manager/Deputy Manager 

Main Purpose of role 

To ensure with other staff in meeting the personal care need of the service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence and ensures their safety and wellbeing during the night. Care provided by care assistants is expected to include 

Main Duties 

     1.  Ensure the highest standards of holistic care and attention is given our residents in the home, meeting all resident’s needs, supporting personal care in line with their preference, identify adjustments and raise concerns with the home manager/deputy home manager. 

     2. Recognise the responsibility of all staff, ensuring residents families are satisfied with the care they are receiving, and giving residents choices in their personal care whilst maintaining confidentiality of       information regarding all residents, visitors and staff. 

    3. Take responsibility for all aspects of the home, residents care, and staff support. 

    4. Ensure all staff adhere to infection control & Manual Handling policies. 

   5. Contribute to the care planning process, accurately completing all necessary records. 

    6. Support and aid the team of staff on duty. 

    7. Encourage and support residents, and staff to engage in activities of interest to them. 

Health & Safety 

  •  Be aware of the Health & Safety policy at work act, and Rest Haven’s Health & Safety policy. 
  •  In order to protect the safety of service users, staff and visitors, all employees are responsible for :- 
  •  Completing an accident/incident form for all accident/incidents or near misses. 
  •  Report all defects. 
  •  Reports all complaints to the Manager/Deputy Manager 
  • Attend mandatory training 
  • Complete adverse incident forms and report these to the home manager/deputy home manager. 
  • To work with the property and maintenance manager/home manager to ensure a safe working environment in order to safeguard the welfare and safety of all service users, visitors and staff.
  • Report all hazards to the property manager. 
  • To be aware of Rest Haven’s emergency procedures 
  • To be responsible for your own Health & Safety 
  • To promote all policies and procedures including appropriate dress code in line with the Health & Safety at work Act. 
  • Other duties 
  • Undertake such other duties, training and or/hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general responsibility of the job. 
  • To undertake Health & Safety duties with the post or as detailed in Rest Haven’s Health & Safety policy. 
  • To attend statutory training, and staff meetings. 
  • To maintain a smart tidy appearance adhering to Rest Haven’s uniform policy, using personal protective equipment and uniform provided. 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Must have permission to work in the UK
  • Be able to commute to work
  • Have Care Home experience
