About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Chef to join our team in a friendly residential care home. You will play a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life by preparing nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals that meet a variety of dietary and cultural needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, nutritious meals for residents
  • Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified diets)
  • Ensure menus are varied, seasonal, and compliant with nutritional guidelines
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness at all times
  • Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering and budget control
  • Work collaboratively with care staff to meet residents’ preferences and needs
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and CQC standards

About You

  • Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care, healthcare, or education setting
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Catering (or equivalent) preferred
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene and allergen legislation
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Passionate about cooking and making a positive difference in residents’ lives
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
  • Understanding and respectful of the needs of older people
