About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Chef to join our team in a friendly residential care home. You will play a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life by preparing nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals that meet a variety of dietary and cultural needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, nutritious meals for residents
- Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified diets)
- Ensure menus are varied, seasonal, and compliant with nutritional guidelines
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness at all times
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering and budget control
- Work collaboratively with care staff to meet residents’ preferences and needs
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and CQC standards
About You
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care, healthcare, or education setting
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Catering (or equivalent) preferred
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene and allergen legislation
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Passionate about cooking and making a positive difference in residents’ lives
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
- Understanding and respectful of the needs of older people
