Job summary

DEPUTY MANAGER – RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME
The Old Rectory, Acle

We are a well-established, 34-bed residential care home in Acle, providing high-quality care for older people, including those living with dementia.

We are now looking to recruit a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and to help maintain and continue to build on the high standards already in place.

This is not just a “step up” role — we are looking for someone who is confident, accountable, and ready to take on a leadership position within a busy and evolving service.

About the role:
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting both the team and the Registered Manager. You will be expected to lead by example, maintain high standards of care, and ensure compliance across all areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the overall management of the home
  • Leading and supervising staff on shift
  • Writing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments
  • Monitoring and improving care quality and documentation
  • Supporting with audits, compliance, and governance systems
  • Managing and responding to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints
  • Promoting a positive, professional culture within the team

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential or nursing care setting
  • Previous supervisory experience (Senior Carer or above)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) – Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Safeguarding
    • Medication management
    • Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Confident decision-making and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A proactive approach with high standards and attention to detail

This role would suit a strong Senior Carer ready for the next step, or an existing Deputy Manager looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

What we offer:

  • £14.85 per hour
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Supportive management structure
  • Opportunity to be part of a service that is actively improving and progressing
