I came into this home for respite care and remained as permanent. I find the carers excellent, kind and very friendly. The food is delicious and a salad is always prepared when asked. The managers are friendly and will do anything to help. It is lovely to have some of my chairs from home. There are
activities most days in the week.
Reply from Michaela Pye, TBC at Old RectoryThank you so much Brenda for your very kind words - It is our wonderful team that make these lovely reviews possible and we will ensure that we pass on your comments. We take great pride in our home and offering high standards and service its so good to hear that we are acheiving this.

My husband went to the Old Rectory in February 2025. He was not in the best of health at the time and he was quite difficult to deal with initially and I was really worried about him. I didn't want to leave him there but the staff assured me he would settle in time, which he did and became settled and
happy, healthy, improved rapidly. The staff at the Old Rectory were wonderful, not only with residents but giving support to bereaved families really really caring. Management is very very good.
Reply from Michaela Pye, TBC at Old RectoryThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a great deal to us. It was an absolute privilege to care for your husband; he was such a special gentleman and will always hold a place in our hearts. We feel very fortunate to have known him, and also to have built such a lovely relationship with you, and your girls. Being part of his journey and supporting your family during that time was an honour for our whole team.
Please know that you are always welcome here, and that we continue to think of you all fondly. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience-it means more than you know.

My mum has only been here a few weeks but she has been welcomed and made to feel included and at home straight away. The staff are all fabulous and are all looking after my mum well. I have no concerns. The rooms are lovely. Mum has a choice of meals, she enjoys the different activities including Bingo.
I am sure Mum will continue to be very happy here.

All residents are a family at the Old Rectory, the home is clean and has brilliant staff who deeply care and love their jobs, this makes a huge difference when placing your loved one in a home. They have an excellent entertainment coordinator, you can see all their antics on their social media page,
it's wonderful to see.
My father came from a horrible home which he was placed in without our choice. Once Dad was at the Old Rectory, he put on weight, had the care he needed, he was clean and very well looked after. This home isn't just a care home, everyone is family.
If you want a home for your loved one look at the Old Rectory, their staff is very well trained, when I visited for the first time I asked hundreds of questions not only to staff but residents and visitors about what they thought of the home, I really looked on their reviews and CQC rating which is currently Good, I'm expecting them to be higher at the next inspection. I've worked in care for 33 years and would definitely recommend Old Rectory.

The residents of this care home have had a wonderful summer with trips to the races, the Gt. Yarmouth Waterways, garden centres and coffee shops. They have had singers to entertain them, a fete with Elvis entertaining everyone. Together with the usual activities and the occasional ice cream, they have
all enjoyed themselves. Thank you to the staff and volunteers for making this happen.

My Father has been a resident for approximately two years now and is very settled here. The staff are polite, caring and kind towards the residents.
There are plenty of activities laid on for them and there is no pressure to take part if they don’t want to.
It’s been a tough time for us coping with
a loved one with dementia but the management team and admin have been extremely supportive throughout, thank you.

I have been visiting the care home since 2014, originally with a family member as a resident and then with three different friends as residents. I have seen many changes over the period, especially in the last 12 months with many improvements being made to the interior of the building. Staff have always
been good to the residents and the management is now at the best it has been in the past 9 years.

The home is good and the team at the Old Rectory Care Home are excellent.
Ten months into my mum’s care and we’re overwhelmed with the level of care, love and support she is receiving at this difficult time.
This is extended not only to my mother but to all at the home.
Our thanks to the entire

Both of my parents have been residents at the Old Rectory Care Home since December 2022. I had managed to find care for them in their home since 2016 but as their dementia and mobility deteriorated, this was not sustainable. It was very important to find a friendly and cosy place for them to live and
be looked after with love and compassion.
On my first visit, I was immediately struck with the lovely atmosphere and feeling of warmth around the Old Rectory. The residents seemed engaged and happy and the staff were chatting to them as friends not just 'service users'.
My parents have settled well and formed friendships with staff and residents alike, as have I!
It's never easy to make the decision to put your loved ones into full-time care but I have felt reassured that they are being well looked after. I have no regrets. Highly recommended.

My dad was a resident at the Old Rectory for over four years. We sadly lost Dad just before Christmas. I can truly say we as a family were overwhelmed by the support and love that was shown to Dad and us throughout his final hours and during his whole 4-year stay.
The staff are kind, friendly and
are always cheerful.
We can never thank them enough for the love they had for our dad.

my mother has been at the rectory for four and a half years. During that time I have always found that she has been treated with respect and dignity which sh has always said the staff are caring, friendly and kind and did a magnificent job during the pandemic. I have peace of mind knowing that my mum
is well fed, clean and most importantly safe whilst she is living them.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.418)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.418) out of 10 for Old Rectory is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Rectory is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I believe a care home should feel like just that, a home. A place where people feel comfortable, valued, and free to be themselves. Yes, safety, dignity, and high standards of care are non-negotiable, but so too are laughter, good conversations, and those little moments that make life meaningful.

As a manager, I lead with kindness, openness, and a smile. I want my team to feel supported, confident, and proud of the work they do because happy staff make for happy residents. I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves, join in with activities, or share a joke over a cup of tea; after all, joy is just as important as care.

I aim to build a culture where families, staff, and residents feel like one community and where everyone’s voice matters, and individuality is celebrated. For me, it’s about balancing professionalism with warmth, structure with flexibility, and care with a genuine sense of fun. At the end of the day, people may not always remember the paperwork or the policies — but they’ll always remember how you made them feel. And I want everyone who comes through our doors to feel respected, safe, and, whenever possible, to leave with a smile.
