My aunt has now been at the Knights care home for several years. At 98 years old she continues to receive the best of care and often mentions the caring staff on our visits.
Her ongoing care has become more complex in recent years and I can't fault how well she is looked after by a dedicated staff
team.
We are always welcomed on our visits and often provided with refreshment from the busy staff.
We are extremely grateful to all for the excellent service and care.

A warm friendly and caring environment for my father to live in. A home from home feel .
The staff are committed to providing tailored care to meet the needs of the resident and are always available or for feedback/updates.
Lovely grounds and garden well maintained which is fantastic when visiting.

My mum is happy and that's all that matters. Just concern on cleaning of room and smell in bedroom. Laundry not returning her items and on numerous occasions we have seen other residents in mum's clothes. Personal items ( bed throws) gone missing. Great activities since the return of the events coordinator.

Clean and tidy care home. My auntie feels safe here. The receptionist is a breath of fresh air, always welcoming and friendly. The unit manager and carers are very responsive and any concerns I have raised have been dealt with efficiently and effectively. The deputy home manger is also friendly and
responsive. I would have given 5 stars had the home manager been more communicative and actually spoke when you entered the home.

I would like to thank all staff at Athorpe Lodge for the amazing care my Mum received while being cared for in Balmoral suite and Hampton suite. The staff are just amazing in every department. Thank you all for the care love you showed my Mum Eunice while she was with you first for re habitation to

Unfortunately my lovely Dad ended up on Balmoral unit after a fall. He stayed there for 6 weeks and he seemed happy. He is now on Clarence unit permanently and appears to be quite settled and we feel that have made the right decision.
I have 2 gripes
1. The phone system at the weekend is dire.
You cannot get through at all. I have sent an email to the deputy manager of the home stating my dissatisfaction over a week ago and still not received a response. this in my opinion is unacceptable. As you can imagine it's extremely frustrating not to be able to find out how my Dad is.
2. More importantly there is a distinct lack of staff most of the time. For example my Dad needed the toilet and there was no one available to take him, this happens regularly. I have had to go and look for members of staff. This is extremely worrying as he is very frail and prone to falls.
On a positive note Michelle the receptionist is very helpful and polite.
Reply from Jodi O'Hagan, Business Manager at Athorpe LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that your Dad settled well and is now feeling comfortable and settled on Clarence. It means a great deal to us that you feel you made the right decision in choosing our home for his care. We are very sorry to read about your concerns regarding the phone system. This is not the level of communication we aim to provide, and we understand how distressing it can be when you are unable to get timely updates about your loved one. We will be reviewing this matter internally to ensure improvements are made. Regarding staffing availability, safety, dignity and wellbeing of our residents are our highest priorities, and your comments have been taken very seriously. We will be looking into this to ensure appropriate support is always available. We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to discuss your concerns further. . Please feel free to contact the Home Home Manager at your convenience.

Mum was made to feel "at home" from the moment that she arrived. She settled in well and with the support and care of the team there has thrived. Everyone refers to Mum by her name and all seem to know her personality well, which is great to see. The fact that we are also known and greeted by name too,
just makes it feel like a lovely place to be. The care is good and our Mum feels safe and happy in the environment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Athorpe Lodge.

After spending sometime in a different care home my sister and I visited Sandford with a view to moving our brother from his existing home. Fortunately there was a room available and we were instantly happier with the 'vibe'. It felt warm, friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
Our brother has now
been residing in Sandford for around 4 months. He is well looked after and it is clear to see all the staff are genuinely kind & caring. Our brother thinks the world of them and it's pretty obvious the staff think the world of him too.
He has several health related issues which are well met and managed. We are kept informed of any concerns and alerted when/if there is any deterioration.
Our brother appears happy & settled here which in turn means we can relax a little knowing his needs are being catered for.
There is room for improvement. Very often there is nobody to answer the phone or when visiting there is often no one to answer the door...a wait can be (to date) up to 15 minutes.

My lovely mum has been living at Heatherside since 2021. While Mum's support needs have increased significantly due to her dementia, one thing has always remained consistent: she feels like she's "just on holiday" and always has lovely things to say about the staff.
The rear gardens are beautiful and
lovely to sit in during the warmer months.
The most important thing for our family is knowing that Mum always feels safe and cared for. Whenever we visit, there is always some activity going on in the lounge, and this even reaches residents in their bedrooms, helping everyone feel included. There are regular external visitors who come in to entertain-singing, pet therapy, and so much more. The list really does go on, and it's fabulous. Mum even got to watch Elvis films last week on a huge tablet from the comfort of her bed!
What truly makes Heatherside work so well is the family of staff. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who cares for my mum-whatever role you play.

My mum has been at Athorpe for two and a half years after a short hospital stay. She really enjoys being part of the Athorpe family and has established lots of positive relationsships with both staff and residents alike.
She is very well cared for and as her needs change her care adapts accordingly.
As her daughter I have peace of mind that she is happy and well cared for and as a family we get to enjoy quality family time with her.
Athorpe is a very welcoming environment from the minute you enter reception and are met with a friendly smile, to the amazing carers, cleaners, cooks and office staff.
As a family we are very happy we chose Athorpe for our mum.
