Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We are truly impressed with Glenfield Woodlands care home. The staff are all amazing, very attentive, they have a real passion to make sure the residents are well looked after, happy and safe, they go the extra mile, which is massively appreciated. It's great to see the residents and staff interacting
and having fun, the staff also massively support the families too and are always accommodating.  The home is immaculately presented and clean and the garden is amazing too.  The food is fabulous and they offer such a variety but also the cooks will accommodate the residents if they want something different.  They make an amazing birthday cake too.  We are so grateful to Sharon, Toni, Ellis and the team for all the support and looking after mum.  Mum really has settled in well within Glenfield Woodlands Care Home and really enjoys being there.  This gives us all great peace of mind and comfort that mum is really happy and settled.   We are so pleased to have found an ideal home for mum

At very short notice we had to place mom in respite care. Mum had never been to this care home before, the one she was used to was not available. This was an extremely anxious time for us. When I contacted the manager she was very eager to support me & offered a room for the dates required. Although
this was very thoughtful I was still very anxious because mum is from an Afro Caribbean background It was important that mums cultural needs would be met. I was so touched to observe the kindness and warmth shown to mum on her arrival. During a conversation with the manager I had told her how mums faith is very important to her. The manager had clearly remembered this & mums name tag included a picture of a preacher& gospel choir. This was a heartfelt personal touch to ensure mum felt comfortable & welcomed. This was the start of a fantastic respite placement for my mum that continued to the end including welcoming mums church congregation to the care home. This was very important to mum.
Reply from Marina Glaves, Resgistered Manager at Beechy KnollThank you for taking the time to complete this reveiw, it was a pleasure to welcome Mum and her Church friends and family into Beechy Knoll. It was warming to see how Mum was involved in activities and was very comfortable chatting to other residents and staff. It would be a pleasure to welcome Mum again should she need any further support.

My complaints are now with the Care Inspectorate of Wales. Absolutely terrible home. I removed my husband after 5 days.
Reply from Rob Noel, Regional Manager (North West) at Sandford Care HomeWe are sorry you feel like this. We have a duty of care for all our residents and we always want to ensure that Sandford is a home from
Home for all that live with us.

We had to follow medical advice where it was recommended that your ex husband went into hospital due to a decline in health. During the 5 days that he was with us, he was very settled, comfortable and enjoyed his stay, we cannot go against medical advice and it was in his best interest to go into hospital.

We will always do our best for the residents that reside with us and unfortunately even though you didn't want him to be admitted, he needed further medical support.

We will never compromise on resident safety or wellbeing.

I am sorry again that your experience wasn't what you wanted and we wish you both well in the future.

Glenfield Woodlands is an excellent care home. We continue to be impressed with the care my Father has received since day one. The staff are all amazing and nothing is too much trouble. You can see how much the residents are cared for and are treated as family by the staff. The home is always clean
and staff attentive to the residents needs. The food is also amazing, my Mother has been able to join my Father for meals which has been lovely for them both. As a family we are so grateful for all the hard work the staff do in making the home a special place. We couldn't wish for a better place for my Father.

The care is very good, particularly in terms of monitoring the health of my mum and making modifications to the medicines. The entertainment/activities provided are very good and the residents seem to enjoy them. The staff are extremely friendly and caring even in challenging circumstances. I do think
that some of the pastoral care is lacking. Ensuring teeth are cleaned, hair brushed, nails cut are examples I have noticed.

Mum gets the best care possible. The staff are always smiling and happy and nothing is too much trouble. If you need to contact the home their is always someone ready to help at the end of the phone. Mum is kept clean and warm and in her words safe. The meals are amazing with a menu to choose from everyday.

I am so grateful to everyone at The Laurels for the incredible care they provided for my husband. From the very first day, the staff made him feel comfortable, respected, and truly valued. Their kindness, patience, and professionalism were evident in everything they did - from the attentive medical
care to the small, thoughtful gestures that made such a difference each day.
The home itself has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is always clean and well-maintained. The caregivers went above and beyond to make sure my husband's needs were met, and they treated him with such dignity and compassion. It gave me great peace of mind knowing he was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about his well-being.
I can't thank the team at The Laurels enough for the love and support they showed both to my husband and to our family. They turned what could have been a difficult time into one filled with comfort, trust, and kindness. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I accompanied the Activity leaders and Carers with 6 of the residents to the Garden Centre this week. We went for a spot of shopping followed by tea and cakes in the cafe. The residents loved it, they clearly all appreciated getting out and a change of scenery. It was no mean feat managing various logistics
in the centre, and the wheelchairs in and out of the bus but the driver was also fab. The staff really go over and above to improve the quality of life for the residents and it was such a joy to see the beaming faces.

My husband began day care in January 2025 and went into care full time on 01/08/2025. Myself and all the family are more than happy with the care he receives, the activities they do and the feeling of a happy home. The staff go beyond expectations - wonderful.

Excellent, friendly care home. Welcoming staff. Good range of activities. My father seems happy here, his room is bright and spacious. Sometimes the table cloths and floor where dining tables are can be dirty with food on the floor.

My mum Beryl has late stage dementia mum moved into Gedling Village Care Home on 10/07/202, I can't express how much the home also the carers have touched my heart in such a short time, carers and cleaners go far above their jobs, I'm absolutely over the moon how well they have settled my mum. Also
welcomed her. I thank everyone who works within the home to make it very well ran.

I can not express enough how wonderful Gedling Village Care Home is. The care is second to none. Staff are friendly & welcoming & are so passionate about the residents & their wellbeing. Even on my Dads darkest of days they know exactly what to do. I have witnessed nothing but great things. Nothing
is too much trouble & staff take the time to get to know the residents on a personal level. Which make the care they provide even more special. Thank you.
