Mum and Dad came to live at the Laurels early
December and both settled better than we thought they ever would.
Sadly we lost Dad on new year's eve .
The support mum and my family received was so much appreciated at such a difficult time for us all.
Mum has done so well coping without Dad will the the support from every member of staff not just the carers but everyone who works there, they are so kind and helpful and take time to help and have a chat with mum .I visit often and I always feel very welcome. They keep me well informed at all times .
They provide lots of activities for the residents , there is always something for the residents to do.

It's been extremely hard for me personally to let someone else look after and care for my mum and Dad. But I know my mum is in very safe hands and I am so grateful to them all .

Thank Gill for your kind words, and entrusting them in to the care of The Laurels - even though we only had a short time looking after your Dad it was a privilege to care for him, and ongoing care of your mum. Thank you again from all at the Laurels.

I have been at The Laurels for almost 8 months. The carers are all lovely and have a good laugh with me. I am very creative and enjoy the activities and entertainment that we take part in every day! The food is very nice and I love the variety of food we are given. I am grateful to be here around lovely people.

I am so grateful to everyone at The Laurels for the incredible care they provided for my husband. From the very first day, the staff made him feel comfortable, respected, and truly valued. Their kindness, patience, and professionalism were evident in everything they did - from the attentive medical care to the small, thoughtful gestures that made such a difference each day.
The home itself has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is always clean and well-maintained. The caregivers went above and beyond to make sure my husband's needs were met, and they treated him with such dignity and compassion. It gave me great peace of mind knowing he was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about his well-being.

I can't thank the team at The Laurels enough for the love and support they showed both to my husband and to our family. They turned what could have been a difficult time into one filled with comfort, trust, and kindness. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The Laurels have gone beyond excellent to look and care for my 94 year old mother. After living independently to sadly having frequent falls and needed to be cared for, made her quite anxious and 'difficult'. The staff have treated her with compassion and patience whilst trying to alleviate all of her concerns. They kept me upto date with any medical or general concerns either by a telephone call or personal when I called to visit my mother.

I would highly recommned this care home and congratulate all the staff, the catering team for excellent meals, the housekeeping for keeping my mums clothes washed and her bedroom tidy, the activites team for providing entertainment and giving individual care (painting her nails) the admin team for keeping me informed of any discussions with the doctors and change of medication and lastly but not leastly the caring team. They are always available to discuss and nothing was too much trouble.

The Laurels was offered as one of several choices for respite care. It was hard to acknowledge but with advancing dementia the decision had to be made and was right for Mum. The staff at The Laurels work so hard to ensure that she is loved and cared for so brilliantly well. They are quick to respond to her changing needs, to enlist help from community nurses and specialist teams as required to keep her well. The food is home-cooked with a wonderful aroma greeting you at the door! Daily activities offer great variety and entertainment, posted on social media for families to see! Today was flower arranging. They say a picture paints a thousand words. Seeing a photo of Mum enjoying herself, a wonderful glimpse beyond the dementia of our very dear mum! Reassured Mum is settled, safe and well cared for, enables us to be daughters once again, the opportunity to take her out, to really enjoy being with Mum, making precious memories for the future!

I would recommend this fabulous nursing/care home, especially to families who are starting to search for a place for a relative which we know can be taunting and very emotional. My mum has been here a year. The care is superb from everyone who works here they are kind caring and have very good quality nursing care it is like a big family who also take care of us and there are always activities. Trips out when the better weather arrives. The food smells delicious when you walk through the front door nothing is too much trouble and it is a happy place to be.

We have found all the staff to be caring, professional, approachable and kind. Our wishes have always been accommodated and they know Mum on a personal level. During a recent period of ill health, Mum was cared for with great sensitivity and she has recovered well.

We are so very grateful to the staff at the Laurels for being so welcoming and caring with Mum and Dad and supportive to us all as a family.
There is a positive environment and great atmosphere for encouraging clients to participate in activities both inside and outside the home, in the gardens and local community. Activities encompassing; church services, indoor sports activities, baking and arts and crafts. Going out for coffee and cakes plus visits to pubs and rickshaw rides to Glebe farm.
There's also time for rest when the residents need it.
There is good access to arranging services such as District Nurse, medications and continence aids with the stress being removed from the family.
The food is good quality and home cooked with plenty of drinks and snacks. The home is clean, tidy and well-maintained.

The staff are dedicated, professional and compassionate. It is home from home for our parents which is very reassuring for us to see Mum and Dad happy together.

Choosing a care home isn't easy however The Laurels has suited my brother he has his own room, with toilet and washing faculties. The room is pleasant overlooking the garden. Has his own TV so can watch what he wants. Meals can be taken in his own room however the dining room has small tables up to four sitting which makes it easy to talk to each other. Drinks and snacks are given throughout the day. The staff are all very pleasant and take the time to sit and talk to the residents. They have a TV in the lounge area plus throughout the week they do activities which they encourage the residents to play a part in. If a resident is able to go out the staff takes them out for coffee and cake which makes all the difference. There is a garden so that residents can sit in and enjoy the warmer weather. A Doctor comes weekly to check that each resident's needs are met, and a hairdresser, optician and chiropody also come to the home. The home is very welcoming.

We found The Laurels very homely and we were always welcomed as visitors. The home is well cared for as are the residents. The residents are very well catered for with meals and regular snacks and drinks. The staff are great and many of them have been happy working there for a good time so no quick turnover of staff. They know the residents well and appear to be very fond of them. We have been very pleased with the standard of care given and would recommend The Laurels.

My elderly mother became a resident of The Laurels in November 2022. She was 89 and suffering with Dementia. As far as myself and the family were concerned her needs were adequately being met and we were given no reason to believe otherwise. There was an incident in the early hours one morning which resulted in an ambulance taking her to A&E. Eventually she was seen by a Doctor who deemed her fit to return to The Laurels. The Laurels refused to accept her back and evicted her rendering a vulnerable elderly lady homeless. No assessments, no notice, and no coat or shoes. Disgusting!

Reply from Michele Jackson, Manager at The Laurels

A&E did not contact the home to allow for a review/handover or to discuss the incident Friday 24th February. A CPN was supposed to phone the home to give adequate handover to allow for safety measures to be put in place before return. No opportunity was given for the home to ensure we could meet...

They were always very caring and attentive to my mum. I just wish Mum had stayed there full-time. Her well-being improved whilst Mum was at Laurels. Also, Mum was singing hymns and playing Bingo.

I thank you for the support you also gave me, and I always knew Mum was safe with you.

When my dad passed away in December 2020, my mum was on her own in Middlewich. I was travelling down 3 times a day, with her memory loss, she wasn't taking her meds, not eating, leaving the front door unlocked and having falls etc. I knew the Laurels was great and knew a few people there. Since then, Mum became a full-time resident. The difference now in her health, with eating properly, in a safe and friendly environment is good. She loves being there and she knows she's safe. The staff at the Laurels have worked hard to get Mum to where she is. I feel happy and thank you all.
