We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Maintenance Person to join our care home team on a full-time basis.
This is an important role within the home, helping to ensure the building, equipment and grounds are kept safe, well maintained and in good working order for our residents, staff and visitors.
Main duties
The role will include a wide range of maintenance and health and safety responsibilities, including:
- Carrying out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance
- Painting, decorating and basic refurbishment work
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Minor electrical maintenance where appropriate and safe to do so
- Routine checks on the building, fixtures, fittings and equipment
- Supporting with fire safety checks, fire records and audits
- Completing regular health and safety checks and maintenance logs
- Ensuring water temperatures, emergency lighting, fire doors and other compliance checks are carried out as required
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues reported by staff
- Keeping the home and grounds tidy, safe and well presented
- Liaising with external contractors when required
- Supporting the management team to maintain a safe and compliant environment
What we are looking for

- Has previous maintenance, handyman or building experience
- Can carry out basic repairs confidently and safely
- Has a good understanding of health and safety
- Is organised and able to keep accurate records
- Takes pride in their work and has good attention to detail
- Is reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently
- Has a positive and flexible attitude
- Understands the importance of working in a care environment with respect and professionalism
Desirable
- Experience working in a care home, nursing home or similar setting
- Knowledge of fire safety checks and compliance requirements
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance
- Driving licence
