About the Role
At Barchester Healthcare, technology plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of outstanding care and operational excellence across our homes and support functions. We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled IT Services Technician to join our IT team and help ensure the availability, security and performance of our IT services nationwide.
In this varied and hands-on role, you will support the monitoring and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, helping to identify and prevent issues before they impact users and services. You'll work closely with the wider IT team and Services Desk to provide effective support, resolve performance issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of our network and systems environment.

What You'll Be Doing
Network & Infrastructure Monitoring
- Monitor server and network performance across the IT estate
- Set up and maintain monitoring solutions to support proactive IT service management
- Analyse network performance and implement corrective actions to resolve issues and improve reliability
- Monitor and maintain network servers, including supporting upgrades and improvements
- Document processes and maintain network performance metrics and reporting
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies and identify opportunities for improvement across the infrastructure estate
- Support the Service Desk with the investigation and resolution of performance-related issues
- Provide network support and troubleshoot connectivity problems across sites and services
- Assist in restoring services quickly and effectively to minimise operational disruption
- Work collaboratively with IT colleagues and non-technical stakeholders to deliver excellent service support
Security & Systems Administration
- Configure and assess hardware and application security logs to identify and manage risks
- Perform systems administration tasks to maintain the integrity and security of IT services
- Support network security requirements and ensure systems remain secure and compliant
- Assist with maintaining stable, secure and high-performing IT infrastructure environments
Network Configuration & Connectivity
- Configure hardware and software to optimise network communication and performance
- Support the setup and maintenance of LAN and WAN networks
- Configure and support Voice over IP (VoIP) and VTC devices
- Manage IP addressing and maintain accurate system and network reporting
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an IT support or infrastructure-focused role
- Experience working in a service-oriented environment with a strong focus on end-user support
- GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) or above in Maths and English
- Good knowledge of IT services and service delivery principles
- Strong technical skills across networking, infrastructure and IT security
- Full clean UK driving licence and flexibility for nationwide travel
